Julie has an awesome sense of humor, which is a huge asset when you and your partner of many years are stuck in a rut, struggling to communicate with one another, as my partner and I were. Spouse and I are extremely different, but Julie is able to see and understand both of our perspectives. And when she can’t she asks questions until she gets it. Then she is able to help«translate» for us. Julie has seen us through a larger commitment to one another, waiting for an adoptive placement, and now becoming parents. Her insights into the destructive, unconscious patterns that play out within our relationship have helped us to grow stronger as a team and as individuals. Having someone objective to focus on the relationship and help reel us in when spouse and I are each spinning in our own hamster wheels has really helped to deepen our understanding of ourselves and each other. Julie is exceedingly kind, but she absolutely won’t bullshit you. She has challenged us to work really hard and we are better partners, parents, and humans for it.

Julie has been my therapist for going on four years now. I’m very lucky that I found her, as she’s helped me through two difficult periods in my life. She is caring and compassionate, but tough when she needs to be. Her advice is sound and her insights revealing. I feel I have a much better grasp of my emotional life since starting to see her. I was scared to go my first time, but Julie and her office are peaceful, safe, and even dog-friendly!

Julie is a great coach, therapist, and objective observer. Julie challenges me. Sometimes I need a coach to get me out of a stuck place or to see new opportunities. Sometimes I need an outside observer to show me a pattern I can’t see. She is soft-spoken but she doesn’t sugar-coat the truth. Julie is real. She is plain-spoken and uses real words. She is practical and grounded. There is no hot air, nothing to believe, no visualizations or affirmations. Many times I have left my session either with a big smile on my face or even laughing out loud as I walk down the street to my car — energized, with new action items, but not pumped up with hot air that dissipates thirty minutes later. She doesn’t take insurance. It’s a huge hassle for any doc to deal with insurance, and she is a sole practitioner doing her good works one patient at time in one cozy room, without a staff to spend the day on the phone arguing with insurers. As therapists go in this town, she’s not expensive, and she’s worth every penny

I had to chime in on the reviews of Julie Minoff. Julie does not approach therapy in the traditional type of way. My work with her has always been more about self exploration and understanding rather than self correction and deprecation. She has cheered me on, let me cry, and always made me feel like I was special. We get into therapy for many personal, and for most of us, deeply hidden reasons. Julie does not give«ANSWERS“or «CRITICISM», but rather allows us to craft our own answers and self criticism. She has guided my growth in a way that is less debilitating and more enlightening than it has ever been. Thanks Julie!
