Ken’s Kitchen

Just had food delivery from Ken’s which arrived exactly on time. My first time trying their food and I’m quite impressed. The Asparagus Chicken is the best I’ve had in SF! In addition the Wonton Rangoon was a surprise. They add finely diced onions and carrots into the cream cheese filling which gives them an unexpected fresh «crunch».
I can’t wait to try more from my new favorite!

Extremely rude delivery driver. Also, didn’t see their health score before I ordered it I would not have ordered. Gross.

I placed an order though
at 8:51 and all went as expected…
I received a phone call at 9:21 confirming my address.
I then waited until 9:53 at which point I called the restaurant.
The food had not even left yet… due to a shift change?
No offer was given except for it leaving as soon as possible… not even removing an item from the bill? What kind of service is that?
Totally incompetent. Will never order again.

I have ordered here for a few years and every time I’ve ordered everyone always is satisfied. Today I ordered on Eat24 and the wrong order was sent. The lady who answered looked it up and was so sweet and-​resent the soup. I do have to say I was impressed because this isn’t always the case. The soup was great and I will for sure order again.

Solid Chinese food for a great price. Happy to have them in my neighborhood. When I ask for Spicy kung pau they deliver for less than 10 bucks. The portions keep me fead for days. Thanks Ken!

If you required a small change, they asked special price without telling you ahead of time, such like mushroom and preserved egg porridge. The tea cup they brought to me had not washed at all. The waitress offer me exchanging a clean one, but I cleaned it by napkin already.

I usually order thru eat24 and get Kens kitchen because its the cheapest minimum delivery fee of $ 11 order. I waited 2 hours for my food to be delivered and the delivery guy is so rude. He asked me for tip but gave me a solid 5 bucks back. then he delivered again and took 2 hours and just dropped my food on the table. This place is good for a quick Chinese food place, but the service is something I expect to be better. How do you expect to keep your customers if you’re rude? SMH

Stopped by here because line at Brenda’s French Soul Food was pretty long and it was right across the street. Food was pretty standard for Chinese food. Not bad. Not great. Price was super cheap. Friendly service.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!
Ordered 1 hour before my lunch and now it’s been 2 hours. I’ve called many times to check and they are acting like a bitch and giving me fucking attitude. Like WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM!
Don’t ever order there!

After a morning of meetings, it was time to break for lunch and our group leader suggested Ken’s Kitchen since they would be able to accommodate the nine of us and it was only a block away from the office. We arrived and were lucky that a large round table in the back was opening up. Perfect timing.
We checked out the menu, which had a large list of lunch specials. Most of us ordered from this menu, but some ordered from the specials of day that were on the board by the entrance.
I ordered beef chow fun. It was a good portion, but the flavor was ok. It was missing «wok hee», for those that understand Chinese wok cooking.
The complementary hot and sour soup. It was very spicy hot. So spicy that I had at most a spoonful.
Overall, prices were inexpensive and food was served quickly. But food was just ok, so don’t expect gourmet Chinese fare.

«Why did I waste my money???» That’s the first thing I think after taking a bite of the «spicy mango prawn», which I was told was in a brown sauce and was indicated to be spicy on the menu (but was more sweet than anything). I really had high hopes that this place would be good, and maybe I just picked the wrong thing, but I shouldn’t have to have this internal dialogue after eating unless it’s something I made (and yet, I am).
Not only was the dish sweet, but it lacked all types of flavor and spice (salt vividly comes to mind). A pinch probably would have done wonders! Then again, I don’t even think a pinch of salt would have helped. This was just bad.
Did I mention the sauce was nowhere near brown? How do you mistake yellow for brown???
So yea… not a fan. I’d like to believe they have other great dishes, but I’m just not willing to try them anytime soon (but someone, please feel free to and prove me wrong).

Hungry and want Chinese take out?
Order here for a cheap, quick and relatively good Chinese food. Remember, you aren’t paying for a 5-​star experience or food quality. You’re paying for dirty, greasy and yummy Chinese food.
I ordered at 9PM for a late night snack and I don’t regret it. It took about 60 minutes to arrive. If you don’t mention that you want hot sauce, they won’t bring it. I didn’t even get a fortune cookie, lol! But I did receive an orange, which was odd. Is this a Chinese tradition?! I know about bringing fruit during Chinese New Years, lol. But not from a take-​out bag!
If you’re craving a lot of carbs, order the Chicken Chow Mein. It’s deliciously good if you’re super hungry. Unfortunately, the flavor was bland. Like bland bland. They give you huge portions though. Oh, and it’s super greasy. I added Sriracha, which made it 3X better!
The Sesame Chicken was delicious! Better than Panda Express and they also gave a lot too.
Overall, I wouldn’t mind ordering from this place again. The driver was super sweet too and even got out of his car to come to my door in the pouring rain.

Usually I come here from school during lunch/​dinner break since kens is the closest and also affordable (never spent more than $ 12). Love their salt n pepper chicken wings and shrimp dumplings. The staffs are really nice to me as well.

The food all amazing, and the price is very good deal, the Mongolian beef worth to try is very delicious, we will try next time

Ordered a lunch special (wings) and an extra soup through
. The delivery arrived 30 minutes late, and even though it says online that all of Ken’s Kitchen Lunch Specials come with an egg roll, soup and fruit, I didn’t get any of that. It only came with the wings and rice. Two stars only because the salt and pepper wings were tasty.

If you’re looking for dependable Chinese food near Hayes Valley, and delivered within 20 minutes (free delivery with a $ 10 minimum) then call your order in. I found ordering through Grubhub adds an hour.
I enjoyed their fish dishes, and can’t go wrong with broccoli beef. The meat they select always seems fresh or soft, better than the tendonny, chewy beef other Chinese spots offer. Prices help stretch my non-​tech salary. The flavor is here!

Order meatless chicken and fried rice (okay plain) don’t get Sui Mai it’s nasty! Taste like they had the pork out in blood and then steamed it.

Bad experience. Made a normal order and when I was eating noodles dang near broke a tooth on some thing that looks like fish tank rocks. When I called back lady only said we send you new order right away as if she knew it was a problem with my food. I am very un happy now with a chipped tooth WTF!!!

I love this place for what it is: divey, greasy, cheap chinese food. Fast service. Decent portions. Very tasty food.
I usually get something like the szechuan chicken & eggplant specials, or kung pao chicken, etc. Food is ready quickly. In and out for lunch in well under an hour. They’re very generous with the eggplant, and I love eggplant…

As long dusk didn’t settle in, you’ll see people eating there. My usual, broccoli & beef w/​rice or tomato & beef. The place is always busy on the phone. Not looking for ambience, not necessary. Eat, go home, get back to work. Live to see another regular day. Someone complained about «bugs.» Thought the bugs was the hotel around the corner, the ones outsiding all day long.

I’m a regular customer of this restaurant but they are absolutely the worst in terms of delivery. I ordered my food via Eat24Hours and they didn’t deliver after 2 hours. When I followed-​up, they said they tried to deliver twice so they aren’t delivering anymore. That’s just crap.

Food is just bland with uneven chunks of meat grown in. Rice was super dry. There was a string of steel wool on one of my chicken. Someone was fighting in the kitchen and the place isn’t clean. Don’t waste your money.

Fairly typical Americanized Chinese food. Average quality, but convenient, and the price is right. the service is excellent and the food comes very quickly. A hard-​working lunch place. I eat here at least once a month.

I wish I could give 0 stars… This place is DISGUSTING!!! I ordered pot stickers and chicken fried rice. They’re fast and arrive on time but the quality of their food is a shame there food is so bad a homeless dog who hasn’t had a meal in 10 hot summer days wouldn’t get that shit. Save ur money. Waste of $ 12

The husband and I ordered delivery service from here the other night. While we are very selective about the types of Chinese places we eat at, we ordered from here out of desperation as we just moved into a new spot and just wanted a quick eat while we were unpacking.
Much to our surprise, the food and delivery came quick and hot within 20 minutes. We ordered the: scallop fried rice, salt and pepper calamari, and the hot and sour soup. The scallop fried rice was quite tastey, as it was not oily and full of dried scallops. I do wish the rice was a bit fluffier, however that’s just my personal preference. The calamari and soup was quite good as well.
If we are having another late night of unpacking, I would not hesitate to call for delivery service from here again.

I used to go here for lunch everyday when I worked in the area. I always ordered either the oxtail with red wine sauce, salmon w/​mixed vegetables, or one of the noodle soups (duck or chicken) with extra veggies on top. Service was always quick. They give me a small bowl of hot & sour soup while I waited which was always nice.
The duck was always fresh and juicy, while my all time favorite salmon was always flavorful.
Sometimes I don’t have enough time to run down there for lunch, so I ordered through their website. They typically come within 40 minutes and the food is still hot which I appreciate.
I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a quick and easy chinese place.

I ordered Ken’s from EAT24 and they always missed my order. They never delivered enough orders. It’s the 3^rd time that they missed my food/​drink.
They even made wrong order this time. I ordered Chow Fun with Beef but they give me the one with beef instead.
IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE !!!

This place takes at least 1 hour and 20 minutes to deliver. This has happened 6 of 7 times.
Every time I call they said driver is coming back from another delivery.

Bug in my food!!!
After I was halfway done with my plate, oh man:(
I ordered delivery from here and was pleased to see that they added new options for lunch, I ordered rock cod with tender greens.
Delivery came in 15 min which was awesome even though they forgot my egg roll and fruit (not fond of their style of egg rolls and didn’t really care about getting fruit).
I seriously tucked into what was an absolutely AMAZING cod and bok choy dish, perfect amount of ginger, not too salty, perfectly flavored and to my delight Ken’s Kitchen was even using biodegradable containers.
Then I saw him. Mr. Bug as I was eagerly eating broth covered rice.
I PRAYED I tell you, I prayed he would move so that I could just tell myself he hopped in my plate in the bag or something but nope, he was deader than a doorknob.
I had just spent the last 5 minutes eagerly gobbling bug broth.
I am so grossed out and I am convinced this must be punishment for never ever eating in and only ordering in food or going out to eat.
Grubhub and I are breaking up today and I am going to get acquainted with my neighborhood grocery stores again.
I wish I had some Ipecac syrup right now.

For delivery, white meat chicken with snow peas = oily sauce, very little white meat. Garlic pea pod tendrils= oily + used too ouch of the tendril so was tough + 11 bucks. spicy eggplant= oily + not spicy + over cooked.
Meh.

This was my favorite spot to go for lunch with my co-​worker! Excellent prices with hot and sour soup! Staff is friendly, and a tv to watch to kill some time.
I was curious to try this place and wow not bad and for the price you can’t beat it. Usually its a single item and steam rice. You can do a single item and chow mien, but it will cost a bit more. I usually go for the bank of the buck so i went with 1 item. The 1 item thing can be anything like Orange chicken, sweet sour pork, mushroom chicken, pineapple beef etc. I do recommend the pineapple beef or chicken because they do use real pineapple not some canned crap. The service is superb fast. Once your order is in out in minutes!
Overall great! best bang for the buck and will fill you up and you get free soup. Sometimes they ask if we want seconds on soup but i usually pass. It’s not the greatest but one bowl will do.

WORMS IN THE MEAT!
I work near here and used to come in for lunch all the time. The food was «ok» and cheap. After finding little white worms (not maggots, like thin string-​like worms) in my food, I won’t be back. One of my coworkers said they found black bugs in their rice here. Ugh. Too bad.

I love this place, not only do they have meatless chicken but they’re service is fast and super friendly and their food is amazing.
