So gooddd. One of the best banh mis I’ve had. Definitely best in the area I’ve sampled lees sandwiches, balos, Saigon sandwiches, as well as several in various phở restaurants. Nothing better than being full with 3.75.

Update: They have banana tapioca pudding for $ 2. It was delicious and complimented the spicy special combo sandwich very well :)

The special combo banh mi($ 3.75) reminded me of Boston banh mi back when I was little but souped up with jalapeño, pickled veggies, and more meat. It definitely is a second to Saigon Sandwiches even though it is open later(Saigon Sandwiches closed at 5pm Sunday despite the signs saying 5:30pm) and cheaper by $ 0.75 because the meat used isn’t as meaty or real. L & G uses the usual salami like meat with the fatty parts and peppercorns, the paté isn’t as tasty or appealing, and the white meat has the tinge of red on the edges from the seasoning, which was interesting. Also, the sauce and mayo used didn’t quite complement the sandwich as a whole. Still tasty, definitely hits home for me because the ingredients used remind me of when I was young, but unfortunately doesn’t cut it as the best banh mi because Saigon Sandwiches uses ingredients that are, in my opinion, much better and tastier.

Order delivery from here more than once a week. I ask for extra veggies and no mayo and they always COMETHROUGHWITHTHEEXTRAVEGGIES on the banh mi. Theyre spring rolls are huge and tasty with mint inside. They gave me sriracha packets on the side like I asked! =D

They accept cards with $ 10 minimum! Pick up a business card because they’re now doing frequent buyer stamps. Buy 10 sandwiches, get 1 free! The lady who runs this place does it all on her own, and she’s a total sweetheart. Love their pâté! I always order a combo with no cilantro. The owner always remembers!

THISPLACEISSOUNDERRATED. Saigon sandwich had a line outside the door(as always) so I decided to try here. This place is so much better than Saigon!!! Unlike Saigon, their bread is crispy but soft, not soggy. Saigon’s meat to bread ratio is not on point, there’s much too much meat that it feels as if im not even eating a sandwich anymore. L&G’s ratio is perfect! Stop eating at Saigon! You have to try here, it’s amazing, and clean! They even have stamp cards and combination pork sandwiches

Saw L&G across from Saigon Sandwich. L&G turned out to be better. L&G is now my favorite TL Banh Mi joint. The couple that serves up the Banh Mi fare is very sweet, as compared to the grumpy and harried crew at Saigon. 3 of us sampling the meatball(siu mi), chicken and bbq pork versions. They all were good/great renditions. They had(and we got) a small variety of(Vietnamese) mochi, sweet/colored rice, and other goodies. The couple offered a «buy 10 get one free» cards to us and with the man saying«good deal» and stamped the back with 3 marks. I took the card but unfortunately I am not much of a coupon clipper or a disciplined carrier of frequent dining cards like this, so it likely won’t be used on my return visits. The story of the owner is worth reading:

I was craving a meatball banh mi, and the line at Saigon Sandwich across the street was just too long, so I ventured over to L&G and I’m so happy that I did. The store was not crowded at all, and the family that runs it is super friendly. The mom makes the sandwiches and her son is the cashier. The meatball bahn mi is probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The bread was very crispy, and the pork meatballs were piping hot and were moist and tender. The sandwich was topped by a heaping pile of pickled vegetables. Strangely, the meatball sandwich doesn’t come with pâté, so I ordered it with pâté for an additional 25 cents. The meatball sandwich with extra pâté and a can of grass jelly drink was just $ 5. Where else can you get an awesome meal for $ 5? That’s an incredible deal, but more importantly the banh mi was delicious and I’ll definitely be back.

I’d been craving Vietnamese sandwiches. While waiting for the bus on the way home, I remembered L&G was right off the 31 Balboa. Hopped on the bus on Thursday, August 6th and got to L&G a little before 6pm. Grabbed some take out for dinner. Vietnamese sandwich: *Special combination($ 3.50) *BBQ chicken($ 3.25): add Pâté I loved the special combination. Lots of pâté which I adored. I added pâté to the chicken sandwich as well. I don’t believe they charged me for it as I only paid $ 6.75 altogether. Both sandwiches were delicious! The bread soft, but with a nice crusty chew. The veggies were pickled nicely and the peppers had a nice kick. I wanted to try some spring rolls as well, but I think they were out as I didn’t see any. Great place to drop by and fulfill my banh mi craving. Cash only.

Best bahn mi sandwiches ever! Took these tasty sandwiches to outside lands and they were perfect! For $ 3.50 you get something 10x better than what you’d get at outside lands for $ 10!!! Chicken has so much flavor and they don’t skimp on the«veggies»(pickled carrots, daikon, jalapeño and cilantro). Pork is also wonderfully seasoned and tasty! Best of all– family owned. Mom is making the sandwiches and is just the sweetest thing. Her son is working the register and is so hospitable. They’ve been open for 6months and I promise every time I’m in town, I will go and see them. They deserve nothing but success!!! Go and support them!

Parking during the day right before lunch then it’s iffy. I stopped to get one of the best Vietnamese sandwiches in the city. I parked in front of this place and they had a special on their sandwiches. I went in and saw Bbq as opposed to roasted pork and chicken. Plus the price was lower, normally 3.59 but special 3.25 no tax??? Fine with me. The bread is great! Exact same as the place around the corner(sorry will not mention the name unfair to this place). The other place went up to 3.75 for a sandwich. I love this place all ready!!! Bbq is good. Bread is good but if you don’t want it toasted say NOTHOT toasted isn’t really her word. It’s all good though. So meat is prepared Bbq, great bread, and it’s the cheapest Vietnamese sandwich out there.

My tofu sandwich was not good. I think the primary issue was the mayonnaise, which tasted largely like what you would buy at an American grocery store rather than what should be in a banh mi. What the heck! The bread was also not crunchy, though the owner explained that they had run out and needed to purchase some from another sandwich place. I also typically get a taro/sago pudding cup, and this one tasted weird. Kind of salty? Definitely not normal, as I’ve eaten a ton of these in the past and the flavor was quite off. I have the will to like this place, but really can’t rate it high in good conscience!

I usually go to Saigon Sandwich Shop which is across the block but I stumbled to this new place. I was kinda hesitant by reading the reviews here, thought F it I’ll give it a try, ppl have different reviews and different taste buds. The gentleman who made my sandwhich was very kind. The place is clean and stocked with homemade snacks from fresh egg rolls, sweet rice, etc. I ordered the combo Bahn mi. Took a bite of it and damn it was really good. No shade on meats and veggies. Prices is .25-.50 cent less than Saigon. I really don’t know what ppl were saying that the bread is too crunchy. To me, it was perfect. If your are impatient waiting in a long ass line in Saigon Sand shop, give this place a try. It’s worth it to me in my opinion.

Nice, filling sandwich with very reasonable pricing. The bread was a bit too dense, thick, dry and on the hard-crusty side, not soft-crispy. I had the combo sandwich, the meat was alright, not very flavorful — all cold cuts. Couldn’t taste much of the pâté or mayo. Pickles and cucumber were very fresh so that was good. The pickled carrots and radishes were not overly overwhelming or cut too thick like some places — awesome! But they do tend to give a lot of carrots which upstage the meat. :( Nice togo brown bag with napkins included. Super friendly lady behind the counter. Cash only, btw.

Seems like a clean lil sandwich shop. I’m here to try it out because sometimes the one across the street has stale bread. Front desk lady seems nice but didn’t offer me any promotions like the others ranted about. We were 3 people but she didn’t say buy 3 get 1 free so I’m not sure if that’s still happening or just temporary. We just got one sandwhich the tofu one I’m crossing my fingers hope it’s good will update tmr when I eat the sandwich. The 4 star is for clean organized shop w/good customer service since she separated my sandwich carrots and cilantro b/c I said it’s not for eatting today. I think they should have a promo for new customers we were very hesitant of the purchase so only got one. If promo I would have gotten more for the rest of the family

Tried out L&G Vietnamese Sandwich Sun 2÷22÷15. It has a Grand Opening sign out front and so I was excited to try a new place when I usually go for Saigon Sandwich nearby. They have a small menu and picked the Special combo sandwich $ 3.75. It was pretty fast to get my sandwich. Tasted ok, lots of stuff inside, I thought the bread was a bit too hard and crunchy. Guy told me he was going to lower the price to $ 3.25 for a month starting 2÷24÷15 so I might try something else next time. I paid Cash.
