I love all they’re food. But i got to say that the Bistec Ala Pobre is my fav main dish. Don Gustavo makes the best sauce to go on top of the bread. All are so good. For appetizers the chicherones de pollo. I’ve been dining with them for more then 15 years ever since they had the original location on Van Ness. My kids love this restaurant as well. It is our go to special occasion restaurant.

Great food! I had the lamb medium rare which was cooked perfectly. The service was also very attentive and friendly. I’d definitely go back.

Oh my, what a meal. My family and I could not be more pleased with this place. Superb food and great service. Went super hungry after a day at the zoo. Our waiter was super accommodating to our starving son, he kept replenishing our bread service and brought our appetizer quickly. Everything that we ate was really really great. Try the zarzuela de mariscos for a seafood medly in a tasty tomato-based sauce. Dip some bread in that sauce or use the rice that comes with it… delicious! Also, try the Cusqueña beer. Medium body Ale. Very refreshing and tasty. Although we didn’t try them, they also seem to have a great selection of wines. We’re in SF for just a few more days but we’ll be sure to come back before leaving town. This place is really great.

Less than average Peruvian food. The chicken was overcooked and I had to add spicy sauce to it just to give it flavor. I had a piece of chicken too that tasted like liver, was not fun. The ceviche was also average, nothing special. The server was a nice guy, but couldn’t give us any suggestions as to what to get. He’s like everything is made to order, which didn’t taste that way. Either they had premade the ingredients, overcooked it or the ingredients weren’t that high quality. Why does this city have such an issue having good Peruvian food? I’ve been to Peru, there’s no comparison!

Finally got to come around and eat here again and boyyyy did I sure miss this place. It is authentic Peruvian food! Fresh, delicious, and so tasty! They do not skimp on the portions at all. It’s a family owned restaurant and you can really tell the time, effort, and love they put in their food and atmosphere. Calamari was amazing! It wasn’t weighed down with breading unlike many other places. My all time favorite meal here is their lomo saltado. It’s so filling and always leaves me in a happy food coma after. The only thing I’d wish different about la fina estampa is how far they are from where I live.

This place is the real deal! If you want real authentic Peruvian food look no further. Being that I’m half Peruvian my family used to come to this restaurant when I was a little kid. It was in the mission back then. It’s moved three times since then but we haven’t been back in a long time in part due to all the other trendy«Peruvian» restaurants that we wanted to eat at and frequented(which I now regret because I could have been eating here the whole time) until my birthday celebration yesterday. The same chefs have been cooking here since it opened decades ago and they remembered my family and even me to my surprise! Oh my God it’s good to be home again! Whenever I eat Peruvian I always get the Lomo Saltado but this time I want to try something different so I ordered the Bistec a la Pobre which I’ve never had before. I can’t express with words how out of this world that dish was! The egg yolk with the fried plantain and the onions and the crunchy bread that was under the steak soaking up the juices is making my mouth water as I type this even now! The rice soaked up the remaining juices which were ample and made that rice the best rice on planet earth! The appetizers, papa a la huanciana, chicharon de pollo, and the anticuchos, oh my God, SO good! This place is THEBESTPERUVIANRESTAURANTINSANFRANCISCO! You must eat here! I want to live there!!!

I’m a Destino kinda guy, but now have to admit that closer to home, La Fina Estampa fits my gastronomic needs quite well. I love it! Tucked right off Van Ness Avenue on Bush Street, my friends Steve, Duane and I walked in yesterday evening for some great Peruvian food. We weren’t disappointed! The person who seated us, as well as waited on us, seemed to be the owner of the place, or at least held a command over the people working there. A basket of bread served with an amazing chimichurri spread was amazing. A bottle of sangria was marvelous, and kept me on point until our Conchit A La Parmesana(scallops, parmesan cheese and white wine)($ 10.95) and later my Saltado De Pollo(chicken sautéed with onions, tomatoes and French fries along with a nice side of rice($ 13.95) arrived. The scallops and chicken were super-tender and the accompanying veggies and rice were moist and delicious. More bread was requested so I could sop up more of the«gravy» on all the plates. One final note is that we appreciated having the host mention to us as we arrived that certain items on the menu were no longer available. Since they order their meat daily, the more popular items sometimes run out sooner than expected.

The food was great. Service was even better. They kept constantly checking with our party if we needed any thing . 3 sauce with bread. Mind blowing . I ordered the seafood platter with rice & fries. Thoroughly enjoyed it till the last grain :) Will be back to tryout their other options . Hole in the wall place but don’t miss it :)

I never had Peruvian before and I absolutely loved it. The waiter did an amazing job recommending me dishes and I ended up with Zarzuela. I enjoyed every bit of it, as well as the bread and the dip sauces. We paid less than 40 dollars for our dish and a bottle of Peruvian wine. Good deal! Definitely going to try more Peruvian places!

I officially love Peruvian food! Thank you La Fina Estampa, for making that happen. We stopped by for dinner on a pretty quiet Sunday. You’d never guess by the part of town that it’s located in that it would be so nice and charming inside. Small place, family-run I believe. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the Saltado De Pollo(the Lomo Saltado but with chicken instead of beef) and my husband had the Tallarin Saltado Con Pollo. Both were DELICIOUS. Mine came with a huge pile of white rice with a hint of garlic, which was amazing when soaked up with sauce from the rest of the dish. Not sure when we’ll be back in that part of town, but if/when it happens, this is definitely a dinner option we’ll strongly consider!

This little hole in the wall is easy to pass by, but should not be missed. The food is fantastic, authentic and fresh. I come here for lunch, just about every other week and order the same exact thing, every time. So what do I order that has me craving and coming back for more? The Parihuela Seafood Soup, it’s absolutely delicious and leaves me craving it on even the hottest of days. Stacked with seafood, it has a very aromatic broth and very flavorful. I love it. Most meals come with a soup or salad, which I typically get the salad since I order the soup. My only issue is that the dressing is too salty for my liking, I typically get it on the side. My friend loves the chicken noodle and orders it every time with a new lunch special. Everything I have tried was great. I’m a big fan of Peruvian food and love this little spot. They seem to do it all just perfect from the sauces on the side to the dishes and flavor.

The service here is great, but they are totally misunderstanding the new mandates for water consumption. When we sat down, the waiter explained to us that they weren’t allowed to serve us tap water unless we requested– and when we did– ITWOULDONLYBEONEGLASS. That’s it. The mandate is, you’re allowed to have as much water as you want, as long as you request it. If you want a refill? You need to request it. They are not going to automatically refill it for you. That being said, they only gave us one glass of water the entire time, and then urged us to buy bottled water if we wanted more. Um, what? Ok. Other than that, the food was average, and they ran out of alfajores. I also have crustacean allergies, and they unfortunately use the same deep fryer for everything. It was good they told us this, or else I’d be swimming in hives, but still– you can’t fry your shrimp or other known common allergens separately? Man. That removed like HALF of the menu(if not more) for me. Unfortunately, the lomo saltado wasn’t as seasoned as I would have preferred, but it wasn’t bad. The meat was at least fresh. Wish they hadn’t run out of stuff, didn’t misunderstand the SF Water Mandate, and didn’t deep fry all their stuff in the same place. I probably won’t be coming back here, but it wasn’t terrible.

This definitely felt like Peruvian cuisine with a lot of Spanish influence, and being that my friend and I were reminiscing about our trip to Barcelona, and wistfully dreaming of the late night, Sangria-drenched, dinners of Paella and amazing seafood, we decided to walk down the street to try La Fina Estampa. Well it was our lucky night, because when we walked in, all of the tables were full except for one right in front that seemed to be waiting just for us! Two Sangrias, por favor! Our server, Luis, was awesome and the wonderful service made it a 5 star experience! The bread comes with these 3 delicious sauces, a must have even if you’ve sworn off carbs forever. We ordered the Ceviche De Pescado(with fresh white fish) and the Paella Marinera(seafood paella). When they brought us the wrong Ceviche, Luis quickly fixed the problem, and even brought us an extra half carafe of Sangria to make up for it! I guess those Sangria-drenched Barcelona nights will live on in SF, and I’ll be back for more.

Group of friends and I came across this place yesterday while we were in the area and decided to give it a try. After perusing the menu for a while, I ended up getting the Tallarin Saltado Con Pollo(chicken sauteed with noodles, onions, and tomatoes). It was delicious, especially the sauce. There’s also free bread that comes with a couple of salsas, all of which I summarily ignored because I kept dipping the bread into said sauce. The waiter also deserves his own paragraph for being very polite and accommodating. Even gave me updates of the Warriors game because my phone had bad signal! This was incredibly important to me because it was Game 5 of The Finals, and it was honestly a pretty close game until Steph Curry sank those dirty, dirty 3’s late in the 4th. In retrospect, it probably reflects badly upon me as a Warriors fan that I wasn’t glued to a TV, but I was really hungry and this place did the job quite well.

This place is one of the restaurants where you feel like the food is homemade. Everything is very tasty and service is nice. One recommendation though is not to go there during the lunch time as they have a very small menu(roughly 10 items) and no appetizers or dessert. My boyfriend is Peruvian and he said the food tasted quite similar to the authentic. PS. Make sure you try the complimentory salsas they bring with bread.

Found this place one night I was on my way to Polk street to a party. Decided to come here with friends for one dinner night. It’s a small place but feels very comfy. They have great food not too much of large portions. It’s best to order several plates and share with your party. The waiter was very friendly and helpful with an awesome sense of humor. I am happy I found this place and will def return!

I really like this Peruvian restaurant. It is a small restaurant with a nice ambiance. Customer service is very good. I tried a few items on the menu and they were very good. The Lomo Saltado was very good. The meat was tender and the soy sauce based sauce was flavorful. The rice was well cooked. The restaurant offers complimentary bread service with butter and three(oil and basil, hot pepper paste, hominy and corn) dips. The ceviche mixto was good. The meat(squid, white fish, shrimp) was spicy and fresh. The squid was very tender. It was very filling. The Sangria was good. It was bit strong for me. It was topped with fresh fruit(pear??). I also like their Spanish Omelette(Tortilla Española). It was fluffy, moist, and delicious. It was well made.

I was not expecting to be as impressed with this place as I was. Went with a large group a few nights ago and got to try and see a lot of things. The waiter(is he the owner too? Or manager?) was very friendly and when I told him(upon leaving) that I’d be back and was in the neighborhood, he gave me a copy of their lunch specials menu to take with me. A lot of the same courses we ate for dinner at much cheaper prices! Anyway…the tortilla española was really good. Not too heavy and full of flavor. I took a bite of the chicken chicharrones and thought it was just OK. Probably better with the dipping sauce but to me, good fried chicken has to be able to stand on its own. My entrée was the parihuela de mariscos, or seafood stew. It. Was. Delicious. Nice light tomato broth, with a little spice, and a great collection of shrimp, calamari, baby octopus and more. I would definitely have this again! And I will be back.
