Voilà: the quintessential cheese and sandwich shop, straight from France but nestled in the bustling FiDi. And what a charming reprieve it is! Essentially, everything on the menu is as delicious as it is wholesome. Only the best ingredients mean glorious sandwiches(do try the prosciutto and burrata); salads overflowing with fresh veggies and exquisite cheese drizzled with their housemade apple cider and honey vinaigrette dressing; and made-to-order cheese and charcuterie plates that will make you the hero long after you’ve left the party. If you’re in a rush, La Fromagerie turns out their sandwiches even faster than the Sentinel. 3 minutes tops, I promise. Where else can you find that in the FiDi? And the handsome French manager(?) is always so accommodating. He doesn’t even seem annoyed when I try to practice my fledgling French with him at the counter. My only hope is that once the word is out, the lines don’t become as long as those you see at Mixt Greens. Please don’t forget about me? Your early adopter friend, Jelena

Food wise, this place is good. The reason for 1 star is because of customer service and lack of attention preparing an order. I ordered the L’Occitane salad and was the only customer in the store. I got back to my office to eat my super late lunch(2:30pm) and realized the chicken was left out of the salad. I went back to let them know they left the chicken out and I was greeted by the gentleman that prepared my salad signaling that he was busy on the phone. In the end I got chicken in the salad but extremely disappointmed by the lack of apology of needing to go back to get everything that I paid for.

Sometime when one door closes, another fenêtre opens. I was disappointed recently that a regular haunt of mine went south over the winter in terms of quality, cost, and service. I was excited today to learn La Fromagerie is much more than just a cheese shop. Had a wonderful Gruyère and ham sandwich on their fresh-baked ciabbata with a delicious fresh side salad. AND despite a line ahead of me, was in and out in just a few minutes which earned them the fifth star. I expect that I will be learning much more about cheese in the near future! Bön appétit!

My company has gotten some cheese and charcuterie plates from La Fromagerie and I usually like the Manchego and the Gouda. I never got to visit their B&M due to them being in the Dogpatch but with this recent branch opening on Montgomery, I decided to bring my cheese obsessed friend to come here and have her choose her cheese Christmas gift. Despite it being at lunch, we got in and out really quick since the lunch crowd wants to order sandwiches. I have to admit that the L’Italien one with proscuitto, handmade burrata mozzarella, and tomatoes is damn tempting. I mean it’s a $ 11 sandwich… am I crazy to think that’s normal? Next time I’m coming back here, I’m getting that sandwich.

Totally addicted to the La Mancha salad. Only time I’ve ever been able to eat an entire bucket of raw kale. The balsamic vinegrette really does it I think. And just found out today that all the sandwiches can be converted to salads, so can’t wait to try the one with the burrata !! The deli case with the cheese and salami should not be overlooked.

Delicious! This is great stop for some amazing sandwiches and salad. My favorite is the Italian with the kale side salad. This is a great place to grab lunch or have a quick lunch with friends.

When was the last time you had duck breast for lunch? Thought so. Damn, the Toulouse sandwich with smoked duck breast, sharp sheep cheese, arugula, and fig jam is quite the treat to have for lunch. Plus it gives your hands a nice smokey smell after. And it’s like only $ 10. You can’t go wrong.

Cheese, glorious cheese! Give me a pound of cheese, some fancy charcuterie, a baguette and a bottle of red wine then I’m set for dinner. Unfortunately, pulling that for lunch is often frowned upon by co-workers. Hence, fancy cheese-inspired sandwiches is an acceptable compromise. La Fromagerie is such a better option compared to alternative shops that dare to offer cheese like«Swiss» or «American» on their menu. Toulouse: Smoked Duck Breast? That’s a huge differentiator from the plethora of sandwich & salad joints flooding the FiDi lunch scene. It tastes a bit like a nice black forest ham, given the smoking related flavors. But there is definitely something more duck-y than ham-y going on. The Ossau-Iraty had nice sharp tang to contrast the cold cuts. And the arugula actually worked nicely to contrast the richness of the sandwich with its subtle bitterness. The dried fig slices worked ok. Kale Salad: Love the ample cheese slices, pumpkin seeds and dried figs. The large chunks of raw kale were a bit much though. Would have preferred more delicate baby kale or slightly wilted adult kale. Was looking like the big kale decorations you’d see at a 1990s buffet(before people were into the whole kale thing).

Fresh made sandwiches and macarons. So French chic! The store is clean and cozy… Ask Aymeric to play Justin burner in the store and he will be excited!

La Fromagerie’s 2nd location in the FiDi is every bit as enchanting as their first location in the DogPatch. This beautifully decorated spot hosts a business which is unique to this hustling’ bustling’ district, and a wonderful asset which anyone in the area should visit. In addition to their delicious, freshly assembled sandwiches and salads, La Fro offers you the opportunity to select cheeses and charcuterie to go(cut on demand) for consumption at your office. Delicious cheese, meats, spreads, and Firebrand bread– who can ask for more? My favorite sandwich so far is the ‘Toulousian’, although I have had the chance to sample a few and they are all scrumptious. Great fresh quality and value = Big strong 5 stars and I will surely be back when I’m in the area.

The sandwiches are all quality sandwiches but my favorite sandwich is Le Toulouse. When I walked in the cheese shop I was greeted immediately. The gentleman working there was so helpful and easy on the eyes. I found out later he was the manager. I highly recommend this place.

Had the Toulouse sandwich which was pretty good. A little skimpy on the duck though.

Honestly, the best place to move into the financial district hands down. The sandwiches are exactly like what I had when I visited Paris, and all the ingredients are the highest quality(I can tell the meats are fresh and the vegetables are stated as organic). I got the«Le Californian» my first visit which I absolutely loved, and the kale salad my next visit. The kale salad has duck(WOW– YUMM) and these wonderful figs I haven’t been able to find anywhere, amongst the other ingredients. The owner of the shop himself is straight from France, as are his co-owners, so he really knows his stuff. As I was leaving work one day I decided to stop by as they were still open, and he patiently helped explain all the different types of cheeses he has and what would pair well with the other food I had(I decided then to get some cheese platters for a small party). He then told me they will have wine coming to the shop so we can pair the cheese and wine — I absolutely can’t wait!!!

Time: 11:33am/67°F cloudy Purpose: Acquired this place a few months back from their dogpatch get together event. Ambiance: Located in the heart of Fi-Di. LF replaces Optic Veo with three tables out front and planter boxes surrounding it. Communal table inside sits eight or more. Color scheme for this place is off yellow with baby blue throughout. All purpose marble prepping counter with partition glass. Rest of the place a mid high shelf and table with overhead hand written blackboard. Most of their action center around 11:30am-3pm. After that its slows to a crawl with everything sold out. Only people watch no entertainment of any kind. Staff: One guy with heavy French accent about late 30s. Cool mellow attitude answering only questions that matters. Has that can do look and beyond. Gave me a sample of semi soft cheese. Don’t know what he gave me, I just chew and nodded good. What else was I suppose say or do? Cleanliness: Grade A, everything kept behind counter till ordering. Other goods are mostly vendor bought and packaging from factory. Tables are wipe down when ever they’ve a change from the front. Eats/Drinks: LeToulouse sando $ 10.99 made on rustic ciabatta bread from Firebrand. This sando is well made from the start. The moment box was open to unveil, it was drool worthy. Sheep cheese pairs good with smoked duck breast. It’s like eating chacuterie small bites, but in a sando form. Each slice of roquefort cheese was shaved by hand per order. I would eat manchego cheese as a snack everyday, yes I will. To break up the all savory part there were fig jam and dried figs nestle inside. Without it, it won’t taste as good. Virgin olive oil was brushed along inside of bread. Organic sprigs of arugula added a pungent peppery flavor cope with salt & pepper is something I would eat itself. It’s not the best French sando I ever had, but better than average around. Main Features: Artisan cheese of Italy, US, and France. Products/Services: Sandwich, salad, various domestic/imported cheese, DIY fondue sets, cookies/crackers, jam/jelly, macarons, tortas, biscottis, baguette/rolls, olive oil, dressing crafted caramel, assorted bottle soda/water, fruit and veggie juice by Evolution, takes plastic. Punch Lines: Clean, new, warm service, seats are minimal, hard to find cheese, free caramel samples, no espresso or coffee, under $ 11 sando, CYO sandwich/salad, ciabatta bread only, pleasing flavors, laid back, lively atmosphere, décor leaves something to desired, sidewalk seating. Tradeoffs: Late to open for the day(11am), not ideal for those who does graveyard shift ref to security guard, janitorial etc. Four hours to get a sandwich from 11am-3pm once you past it, that’s it, next time. Final Thoughts: It’s really just a fancy cheese shop than a actual full service sandwich deli type of place. You won’t find everything you normally would from your favorite sando shop. If you want a light bite with no fancy ambiance thrill yourself or with a colleague this is for you. However, if you want a side of this and that hot food is absentee here. Not a bad shop it really differentiate itself from other shop with gourmet artisan cheese, not processed.

Oh my goodness, the smoked duck sandwich with the side salad is one of the best lunches I’ve had in ages. It made me want a glass of wine to go with it.

One day, I saw a friend on Unilocal bookmark this place. 2 hours later, I was at the shop, looking at what they have to offer. I am a sucker for all things Francaise, so as if arriving at a shop called«La Fromagerie» wasn’t enough, I ordered a sandwich called«Le Parisien»($ 10), which consisted of Swiss Gruyère(aged 12 months), rosemary ham, cultured butter, cornichon(French pickles), all on Firebrand artisan bread from Oakland(whoo, Bay Area!). It is wholly obvious from the name of the store that the star of the sandwich is the cheese, which had a grainy texture and tasted quite savory and creamy. It went well with the rest of the components, but in all honesty, I kind of expected to be awestruck with a $ 10 sandwich. If you assess it honestly, you’ll find it’s just an over-glorified ham & cheese sandwich. It’s delicious, but not something I’d go for again and again. Mazarine Coffee has an awesome grilled cheese that blends four different higher-end cheeses together, so perhaps La Fromagerie can make something similar? Overall, it’s just another solid option to grab a sandwich or salad and go in an area overly saturated with grab-and-go eateries. I’d probably make a comeback every once in a while.

I had a chance to try the La Mancha salad with kale, figs, pumpkin seeds, machengo cheese, and smoked duck. Simply delicious, perfectly seasoned and savored every single bite with just the right amount of dressing. I will go back to try the other salads in the menu.

Soooooooooooo glad La Fromagerie opened in the Financial District! It’s cute as hell, and my lunch today was outstanding. Service was quick and friendly(and easy on the eyes). Looking forward to stocking up on cheeses etc., and their salads/sandwiches are going into the rotation stat. :)

This place just opened next to my office and today I stopped by for lunch and had a ham and gruyère sandwich. Simple and delicious. Service was fast and the place is nice with inviting French music. I noticed they sold Firebrand bread from Oakland, so I definitely had to get a loaf. Also some truffle cheese. The raspberry macaroons are awesome, but it’s better if you eat them right away. A business with good cheese, cold cuts and awesome bread, is always welcomed. I’ll definitely be back.
