I joined one of Caroline’s mothers groups for second time mothers. We met every Monday for a couple hours to discuss around themes that Caroline proposed at the start of the program. It felt good to be able to discuss the various challenges of motherhood in a friendly and intimate setting, knowing that what we shared would stay within the group.
Having Caroline there allowed us to get expert advice on parenting, relationships, nursing, introducing solids, going back to work, and more. She recommended books or other experts we could reach out to for help in specific situations. She’s a very warm and caring person, the exact kind of support a new or second (or third!) time around mom needs.
All the mothers in my group still see each other on a regular basis and have become friends, which is an added bonus and lasting benefit from the course. I definitely recommend!

Caroline was recommended to us by a good friend of mine and we couldn’t be happier we decided to work with her. From the moment we met her we liked her energy: supportive and nurturing, and also extremely professional, practical, and knowledgable. She truly offers the whole package to postpartum moms and families in that she is trained as a psychologist and a lactation expert so can provide both emotional support tailored to the needs of each client and in depth expertise about breastfeeding and infant care. We really looked forward to our meetings with Caroline– she was so encouraging, informative, and positive but also very understanding and down to earth when it came to listening to and addressing our needs and concerns as new parents. When in the first week postpartum I expressed my unhappiness that the house was in disarray she quietly tidied it while my husband and I bonded with our baby: the point was not that this was her usual service but that in my case it made a difference to me psychologically to see the house in order. She taught us to clip our newborn’s fingernails, give her a bath, swaddle her, take her out in a carrier wrap, and most important of all, figure out a breastfeeding routine– including using a pump. She also provided much needed support and a referral when I experienced some anxiety during my first two weeks that I wanted to address in the event that it might develop into postpartum depression. I felt very comfortable discussing this with her and trusted her implicitly. She is fabulous and I’m excited to start her mom’s group this week!

Caroline provided such wonderful lactation and emotional support and care during my first 3 months of motherhood. My baby was premature, which commonly leads to breastfeeding challenges. Caroline broke things up into two phases of getting my supply up to start and then helping him breastfeed once he had developed stronger muscles to suck. It was a lot of work and she checked in often and was very attuned to how overwhelmed I was feeling. She provided a lot of encouragement and very practical support on how to manage my baby while keeping up an active pumping schedule. I am so grateful to have had Caroline’s thoughtful support.

Caroline is an incredible resource. I highly recommend her to anyone with babies who have lactation questions/​concerns. I participated in her 0 – 3 month mom’s group and not only did we cover topics from baby’s sleep schedules to going back to work/​pumping, I also made other mom friends. Now I have a network of moms in San Francisco to consult on numerous topics. If you’re thinking of using her services, definitely do it, she’s great!

As a Birth & Postpartum Doula, I have partnered with Caroline for quite a few clients and have to say that she is absolutely amazing! From the first time I heard Caroline talk about postpartum care and her approach to supporting families, I knew that I wanted to collaborate with her and refer my birth clients to her. And that is exactly what I have done, with 100% satisfaction on EVERY single one of my clients that have worked with Caroline!
Her approach is both nurturing and realistic. She meets parents where they are and really curtails her support to each individual family she works with. With her Psychology background she is really able to go deep with her postpartum and lactation support, MUCH more so that I have ever witnessed with other lactation consultants.
Not only would I want Caroline as my own Postpartum Doula and Lactation Consultant, but I have full trust in sending my own clients to her, knowing they will get the exact support they need. There are just no words to explain how wonderful and talented Caroline is!

Can’t get enough of her! I told Caroline I wish I could continue her groups until my sons graduated high school… and I meant it! Her groups were so interesting with great topics and resources. The most important aspect is her persona-she’s incredibly gentle, kind, empathetic, warm, understanding, candid and funny. I joined 2 of her groups and loved them both, especially the 2^nd time moms group. I always felt so comfortable sharing with her and she created a safe environment. I really valued her words and advice. Her knowledge of psychology also helped so much when trying to understand the mind of a toddler (and our partners!). I feel so fortunate to have met her.

My first baby was tongue tied and was biting and pinching my nipple while feeding. Two different lactation consultants at USCF Mission Bay postpartum have NOT noticed it. After a week of suffering through painful feedings, I called Caroline and she was a godsent!
What she did for me:
– She took one look at my baby and told me that frenotomy might help my baby release her tongue. She was right.
– She recommended the right physician, who was experienced with infants. She followed up with me after the frenotomy.
– She recommended the right osteopath to help with continuing the jaw relaxation.
– She taught me how to help my baby nurse while dealing with tongue tie.
– She taught me how to train her tongue after frenotomy.
– She taught me how to sideline nurse.
– She introduced me to a group of fantastic women that have babies of the same age as mine.
– She saved me from a possible mastitis. She responded to my cry for help when I had a plugged duct and gave me clear instructions for how to unplug it.
– She gave me hugs when I needed them.
Definitely call Caroline!

Since day 1, my baby was a great at breastfeeding. But after about 6 weeks, he was probably going through a growth spurt and it seemed like I never had enough milk to satisfy him. So, I decided to call Caroline to have her check on us and let me know if I had enough milk for my baby and could keep breastfeeding him.
Caroline was super responsive and flexible and came visit us very quickly. As she came into our house and we started to talk, it took her only a few minutes to understand what the problem was. My baby was totally ok with my milk and getting way enough… the actual probably was that he was exhausted because we didn’t know how to get him to sleep. She gave us tips on how to ensure he could nap properly during the day (by wrapping him in the Moby properly or swaddling him). She also brought her scale to ensure that our baby gained enough weight.
The 2 hours we spent with were amazing and made me feel so much better. It made me realize that everything was ok and that we were doing our best for our baby and just had to focus more on sleep. As we managed to get him on a good sleep schedule, things improved drastically for us and for him.
I wanted to write this review because I think Caroline is much more than a lactation consultant. She has a wealth of knowledge about parenting and what to do with a new born to be off to a good start. She also has amazing energy and you can feel as she walks in the door that things will improve.
I can’t say enough good things about Caroline. We have emailed and communicated regularly since she came over. She is still helping me in my last months of breastfeeding as i want to last long enough to avoid giving my baby formula.
Bottom line, whether you need help with lactation or if you feel some stress or are anxious about anything, just reach out to her. Chances are that she will be able to figure out what is not going well and help you out.

Caroline was referred to me by my OB when I asked for a Lactation Consultant referral. We met twice before my baby was born where she went over breastfeeding techniques, showed me videos about the first latch and talked to me about what to expect during the first few days. Meeting with Caroline before my baby was born gave me the confidence to figure out how to breastfeed while in the hospital. I even had nurses tell me how impressed they were that I knew some of the techniques already.
Caroline came to my house the day after we got home from the hospital, which was a lifesaver. Those early days were challenging and knowing that we had Caroline’s support to learn various breastfeeding positions, talk about latch issues I was having and have her general postpartum knowledge was incredibly helpful. She gave me advice on how to get rid of plugged ducts, diagnosed additional latching issues my baby was having and even referred me to other medical practitioners to help with latch pain when nothing else worked.
I loved working with Caroline so much that I joined her first time moms group which was also amazing! To have a weekly outing where I got to meet other moms and have a dedicated topic every week was perfect for me. I plan to join the 3 – 6 month group as well because I loved it so much.
I feel so lucky that I got to work with her!

I wasn’t sure that I wanted to spend money on a second time mom’s group, but I’m so glad that I did. Caroline facilitated a really warm, supportive environment in which we felt comfortable sharing the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. Caroline inserted her much appreciated expertise where appropriated, and also let us talk and vent. I’m thankful that she thought to form a second time mom’s group. She’s a very compassionate and thoughtful group leader and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

I first met Caroline when I hired her as lactation consultant. She came to my house to offer guidance on latching and various feeding positions. She’s very technically knowledgeable about ways to encourage breastfeeding success and communicates in a way that is incredibly encouraging and supportive. She gave me lots of great advice and included my partner in the discussions. During the visit, she went above and beyond to help us 3-​week newbie parents tips on how to put on a Moby, set-​up our bed for co-​sleeping, and swaddle a baby! She has a magical way of interacting with babies. Our little guy always initially shrieked when getting changed at the diaper table but was amazingly quiet when Caroline handled him. I later participated in a new moms group that Caroline facilitated. She’s a fantastic, skilled facilitator – always respectful, patient, and full of good advice; I loved attending the group sessions each week. Caroline”s such a great champion for new moms. I recall her emailing me personalized suggestions/​advice on specific concerns I brought up in a group session. She’s genuinely passionate about supporting new moms and their babies. Her consulting and moms group kept me sane during my maternity leave, I feel so incredibly fortunate that I got to work with her!

I am sure I *could* have gotten along without Caroline, but thank goodness I didn’t have to. Caroline is amazing. She’s one of the best teachers I’ve ever met – gently guiding and encouraging you to find your own best answers with unparalleled patience and good cheer.
I didn’t think I’d need a lactation consultant but hired her as a postpartum doula – I knew a lot of new moms who had trouble with breastfeeding, though, and I am so so glad that I was lucky enough to have Caroline around from the very beginning. With her help I got breastfeeding going smoothly and experienced very little trouble. You’d think breastfeeding is the most ‘natural’ thing in the world, and it is! But having a friend there to help you over the bumps in the beginning is invaluable. I also joined the new mamas group and loved every minute of it.
Whatever reason you have for seeking Caroline’s services, you will not regret coming to her. Do it now! You’ll only regret any delay once you’ve worked with her.

Caroline is great! I am SO happy we hired her for her lactation consultation services. We met with her a couple weeks before our baby was born and she gave us great information on what we should expect the first couple days. It was a great help! While I was fortunate to have good luck with breastfeeding, I still found Caroline’s postpartum visits to be very helpful. Having your first baby is overwhelming and many times it can be confusing. Also, our families live far from us. Caroline was there to help answer any questions can give feedback which made both my husband and I assured that we were doing things right!
I also joined Caroline’s mom’s group shortly after the baby was born and it has been AMAZING! It can get very lonely at home when its just you and the baby so I really looked forward to our weekly meetings. I loved all the new moms in the group and know that we will be good friends in the years to come and our babies will grow up together!

Caroline is an amazing lactation consultant. I am so grateful that I was able to have her around for my second baby. As I had issues with my first I wanted to get ahead of it for my second and Caroline helped me to get ready and have a plan. She came to my house and we talked about my first experience, what went well and what went wrong, my fears and my goals. She spent a great time answering questions I had and gave me advice on things to do and not to do right after birth and during the first days of my baby’s life. I am convinced that Caroline’s advice and wisdom made my second breast-​feeding experience so much better and enjoyable than the first one… It is also great that she made sure to be available on day 2 or 3 after birth, to come to our home if needed to make sure everything was going well…
Caroline also holds groups of mothers that can discuss all sorts of themes… I loved that our group was made of only second time mothers… We had so many things to share!!! It was great to realize that we were all going through the same things… (oldest child reactions to baby, husband and wife challenges in relationship…) And what was so helpful was that as a lactation consultant, Caroline was able to offer some follow up on initial private consultations… We could ask her questions about breastfeeding and was there to support us along the way… Because things are ever changing with our little ones!!!
So I highly recommend Caroline as a private lactation consultant as well as a group leader. Her kindness, generosity, knowledge and wisdom made this experience a great one!

We hired Caroline for lactation consultations and I participated in her new mom’s group. Both services are fantastic!
1) the lactation consultations: She came to our home before our baby was born to get to know us as a couple and also my health history (I’m a breast cancer survivor). She offered some great advice to my husband about how important his role is and how he could help me once the baby was born. She came to visit us the day we came home from the hospital, which was priceless because our baby wasn’t latching and she wasn’t getting any milk. The following two visits were also extremely helpful because she offered solutions and support to our struggles with breastfeeding.
2) The mom’s group is so much fun. Our small group of 7 became very tight knit and we will continue to support each other now even after our official sessions are over. It’s a great way to meet news moms, discuss common questions and share stories. Caroline prepared a topic per session and shared useful information.
Both services were well worth the money.

I participated in one of Caroline’s new mom groups, and loved it. It was wonderful to get to know other moms who are going through the same things as you. The weekly meetings with the same group of people allow the time to really get to know one another, and establish the trust required to have honest conversations. As a facilitator, Caroline is nonjudgmental, helpful and informative. I loved the resources she introduced to us — articles, web sites and other people we may want to talk with to learn more.

I wish I’d gone straight to Caroline when I first realized I was having problems. She makes at-​home visits, which I find to be more productive than seeing LCs in hospital/​office settings. She also sees the unique woman and situation behind each pair of breasts. What truly WOWed me though was that she asked what MY breastfeeding GOALS were. My previous LC never once asked me. Why is this important? Well, if you have BFing problems, there are so many things you can do to make them better. Take supplements, correct the baby’s latch, pump more, drink more, eat more, lay down, sit up, lay sideways, warm your breasts, etc. As a first time mom, this can all be a bit overwhelming and drive you up the wall. Caroline was sympathetic and gave me a minute to cry, then we got down to business. I knew deep down that she would do her best to help me and not tell me to just take fenugreek.
Caroline spent a lot of time with me and baby. She looked at latch, positions, baby’s tongue/​neck/​posture. She also helped me remove a plugged duct and evaluate my pump settings. I was amazed that my son did so well with her. She was gentle and made him laugh!
At the end of the day, I had a plan that I felt I had some say in. Caroline also continued to follow up with me through email. Two months after her visit, I feel like I’ve met my goals and the results are better than expected. I’ll definitely be seeing Caroline again with Baby #2!

I participated in one of Caroline’s mommy support groups, and absolutely loved it. It really helped me transition into mommyhood. As a Type A kind of person who feels like she can do it all, being a new mom quickly taught me that things can get overwhelming. Caroline’s mommy support group taught me that I’m not the only one feeling that way. The camaraderie and sororal atmosphere was something I looked forward to weekly. Plus, it was nice to get perspective and validation from other moms going through (or having already gone through) certain milestones and challenges. Everything from squeezing into jeans (thank you bellybands), finding baby care, discussing feeding, and even discussing nuances of life with your husband/​partner post-​delivery (if you know what I mean).
Surprise outcomes for me from the group: free baby clothes from a fellow mom, and a great sharecare family for our family.
