Since my favorite lunch spot(café Venue! x) is under reconstruction, I had to find some alternative. Luckily, «Ladle & Leaf» was just across the street and also served tossed salads, sandwiches and soups. Even more soups to choose from! But the triumph didn’t last too long. I can’t say it’s bad. It’s fine, it’s pretty cheap(around $ 10 for soup and small sandwich) and very clean. However, the sandwich(turkey pesto) was way over salted. And I love salty things, I put a bit extra salt almost all the time. But this was just unbearable. Saltness almost burnt my mouth. I was too hungry to throw it away though. On the other hand, the soup(tomato soup) didn’t seem to be salted at all. Which isn’t that bad if you’re having it with the turkey sandwich, but they don’t really balance each other too well. After all it ended up being a bit of a salty burn + a sip of bland cream. It would be a great place if they fixed their issues with salting different things. And if there was a place to sit. But only 3 stars for now.

A new place to eat downtown that is quick, reasonably priced and healthy. Great selection and good portions. I have been there a few times and the service continues to improve each time I visit so obviously someone is paying attention. I toggle between sandwiches and salads and like them both. I recommend you give it a whirl.

Heads up, there is a $ 5 for $ 10 Groupon for this place. Should get it since it’s pretty pricey here. TLDR: Messed up my order, disorganized, food still good though, go to a different location. Alright, I’m like super pissed at this place. First off, wait during lunch time was like 15 minutes in line. When I got to the registers, I placed an order. Girl #1 at the register gets my order wrong(she ordered me a salad when I wanted a sandwich) because she was thinking of a similar item. Now my fault for not catching before paying so I wasn’t mad. She went and fixed it. But then she gives me the wrong change for my order. By now I just wanted my food, there was a long line, and the girl looked frazzled so whatever it’s just a few cents. Now I’m patiently waiting on the side for my order. Around 20 minutes passed and I’m still wondering where is my order. Apparently, they made the order that was wrong and my fixed order receipt was never printed. When I mentioned that the order made was wrong and I thought the girl fixed it, girl #2 gave me a weird look like I did something wrong and I heard her whisper«this is the expensive one». Well, not my fault girl #1 messed it up; don’t give me a look like I’m in the wrong. Also, they were very disorganized with the orders. Because there were so many flowing in, they didnt have a really good system to sort. Food wise, it was good. I liked my order(Perfect pairing: Clam chowder $ 5.75 and Kimchi Wagyu Steak Sandwich $ 4.50) though it was REALLY. SMALL. for price paid. Don’t let the kimchi scare you; it wasn’t spicy at all. I’ll return to Ladle & Leaf but not this location.

It’s rough to find a place to grab a breakfast sandwich during Christmas/New Year’s week. After finding Café Me and Il Canto closed, I ended up here(next to Il Canto). It’s a decent menu, evrything is fresh and seems wholesome, and service was good. The food was fine. Had a bacon, egg, cheese bagel and a chicken chorizo, egg, black bean bowl served on salad greens. Bagel sandwich was very basic. Did the trick, but kind of bland. The bowl was good but I decided it was too salad-like for breakfast for me. If the greens were sauteed, would’ve been better. I think next time I’ll try the potato crust quiche for a GF option. Seems like a solid spot!

I sure didn’t expect such excellent food at such affordable prices. Too many soup and sandwich shops these days are priced excessively high. At such an expensive rent place like Embarcadero, Ladle and Leaf fits the budget at very health conscious and fresh ingredients. Clam chowder paired with a hummus wrap was sufficient and Very good. The place is very clean and the staff very friendly. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Okay, this place is interesting. I came here one day for lunch and thought they had a good variety of soups and salads to choose from — and I was definitely craving something light. After much deliberation, I ended up choosing the Quinoa and Kale salad, which ended up being VERY delicious. I was extremely surprised. The vinaigrette they used had a tangy, sour taste that added just the right amount of flavor. I would give their food 4 – 5 stars! I took two stars off, however, because I think the price point is a bit high for the quality of the salads, but quite reasonable for the financial district. You have a lot of big shot professionals working in that building. Also, it took quite a while to get our food, and I think there’s only one person in the back making the salads. Altogether, I think this place was good and I would give it a try. But there are tons of other soup and salad options in FiDi!

The people are very nice here, but the customer service is terrible. I often get the wrong item when I order and I’ve frequently found that I was overcharged when I look at the receipt. When I bring it up with the cashier, they apologize, but make no mention of a refund. Also, there is ALWAYS something wrong with the registers, so expect long lines at lunch. Lastly, the food often takes at least 10 minutes to prep, which doesn’t make sense to me as the soup is pre-made and the salad shouldn’t take that long. The only saving grace and why I’m still a customer is because the food is really good.

Good selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches. I like the«Pair It» option, meals will typically come out to $ 10 – 12 and you’ll get plenty of food. While it is a popular spot, I’ve found that the line is manageable around lunch time.

I like that you can make a pair of their soup, salad and sandwich offerings. With a drink expect an average of $ 15 per person. Don’t pay attention to the billboard signs out front. Go by the menu above the cash wrap. Ordering is a little chaotic during peak hours. I find that SF soup company doesn’t salt their soups too much so I always have to add in more seasoning or hot sauce. I do like the menu offerings here. There’s enough variety to keep it interesting.

They have multiple signs for seasonal soups so I waited in line for the vegetarian minestrone. When I got up front they said they only have one seasonal soup available at a time but the specific one isn’t listed anywhere. All they had for vegetarians were the regular(not that great) SF Soup Company options. Not veggie friendly, poor signage leading to a waste of time.

The salads look a lot better than they taste. Got their most popular Thai salad. It could have had some more flavor.

Good soups /OK prices — esp for FiDi Salads are a total rip off — I paid extra for extra chicken but did not get extra chicken. What I did get was a $ 10 bowl of lettuce with the tiniest sprinkling of chicken /toppings. Can do much better at the salad bar in EC3.

Quick, value priced, large green rainbow salad paired with the Creole crab soup is excellent, adding up to a quick, healthy meal that satisfies. My go to lunch fix with the dressing on the side.

Evolutionary. San Francisco Soup Co. is trying something new: Which means incredible turkey sandwiches featuring homemade cranberry sauce with hints of mayo, BBQ sauce and spice. Just $ 4.75 for a half that was plenty filling. Left just enough room for a $ 3 nonfat vanilla parfait with crunchy granola and strawberries that reminded me of the great taste/value from the other locations. Given on the side at no charge was a taste of homemade hummus. Also likely a repeat from the original brand but that didn’t make it any less good. Friendly staff is ready to answer questions and make customizations. This quality at these prices is almost revolutionary.

I have always been a fan of SF Soup Company, so when I saw that Ladle & Leaf(«an evolution of San Francisco Soup Company») was opening very near me, I was quite excited and happy about this location’s proximity to me. As it is to be expected, all the soups that I get and love from SF Soup Company are served here. They also have a Perfect Pairing option which allows a customer to choose a combination of two from their soup, sandwich, and salad selections for a lower price. The sandwiches and salads are prepared fresh per order. While it all sounds good, the catch here is that they are rather chaotic, especially during the lunch hour. One could make the excuse for them that chaos is to be expected during peak hours, but I came in after the lunch crowd have died down, and there was only a very slight improvement to the service. I think they should work on this. I think that having a clear separation between the order line and the waiting area would be very helpful in this department as people seem to be confused where to go. Also, I am quite unsure if they have this in place or not, but I hope that you can order ahead of time via phone call or online and just pick your order up. I think this would be very helpful for their office worker customers who have limited time to enjoy their lunch. I will be a regular because I really do love their soups.

I’m super happy this place opened up in place of Freshii. In my mind, it’s like a better SF Soup Company — which is what they are somewhat selling themselves as. They make the sandwiches and salads after you order them so its a bit fresher than the salads they have at some of the SF Soup Cos. They can also make chopped salads which is what I normally get because then everything is kind of married together and makes it much easier to eat. I’m all about simplicity while grabbing lunch to go(esp when I have way too much work to do). Overall, it’s a good salad, salad, and sandwich place. Especially for those in a rush that want a great meal.

I appreciate the reinvention of SF soup co, but there are some communicative and operational inefficiencies at this location. I’ve been here 5 times since their opening since i work nearby but only once did they get my order right. Needless to say, my modifications to their recipes are not difficult, at all.(I.e. Dressing on the side, or no tomatoes). Their salads are ok. I have this fear of chicken with fake grill marks. Their soups are good– and I appreciate their daily rotation. Prices are reasonable. They are currently having a $ 2 off promotion. Without the promotion, I really don’t see an incentive to come back.

My wife is a big fan of San Francisco Soup Company, so we stopped in for lunch recently and have now added it into our rotation of favorite spots to grab a bite. *Great service. *Quick and easy ordering. *Made to order sandwiches and salads; nothing pre-made or soggy — woo hoo! The turkey bacon avocado is our current favorite. Try it, you’ll like it too.
