I preferred this place when it was dirtier and sweet, moody Jay used to manage it. At least Jay was around to troubleshoot the chronically broken machines and respected your personal space. The current manager, Chris, harasses women all day but magically disappears when a machine’s down. The current manager has: –without my permission handled my laundry by moving it from the washer into a dryer. It was not anywhere near to closing time and there were plenty of unused units –stepped into my personal space to compliment me on clothing I was transferring out of the washer –said, «did you leave your underwear behind b/c I found nice lacey panties» –asked another woman if she would give him a bra The laundromat’s redeeming quality is a 40 minute, $ 5 big washer.(The one on the right b/c the left one will eat your quarters.)

For the past 2 years, I’ve lived a block away and the guy who manages this place is a filthy creep, who I believe lives in a tiny dirty room attached to the laundromat(I’ve seen it a few times when he left the door open). He allows his disgusting, obnoxious street friends and their poor dogs hang out inside during open hours. He’s constantly bothering you when you just want to do your laundry in peace, and nowhere to be found when the machines aren’t working. Speaking of machines not working, both of the larger/more expensive washers have a recurring issue where the quarters stop dropping into the internal receptacle. There’s a trick you’re supposed to engage using a long skinny tool that the manager carries with him as well as banging of fists. I can’t do it on my own when he’s not around and there’s no number to call or anything(the one painted on the wall doesn’t work). One time the manager screamed at me from across the room and told me that I was«really rude» because I was wearing headphones and didn’t hear him ask me a question. I am not kidding when I say this man is a complete psychopath. I’ve heard from neighbors that he doesn’t open at a consistent time, so be wary of that if you need to wash something in the morning before work. I now pay a bit more to use my basement laundry, but I would recommend going anywhere else in the neighborhood!

I’ve been here once, SO excited they have three regular size washers for ony $ 1.75 a load. I dont’ always need to wash a ton of stuff. I went around Noon, it was busy, clean and smelled like laundry. It’s very close to the Haight, so I would not go after dark, but I was happy to be able to save some dough and wash smaller loads.

Horrible, disgusting place. Dirty, smelly, awful. Not worth the dollar or two you’ll save. Bonus: get verbally assaulted by the manager for following the directions on the change machine! Note to manager: if you don’t accept $ 20s, take the $ 20s sign down instead of shouting and cursing at people with $ 20s. Wow.
