This is such a cute little candy shop. I ended up buying ½ lbs of chopped English Toffee. It’s absolutely delicious. Toasted almonds on the outside and crunchy but not overly sweet toffee on the inside. It was perfect. Wish it didn’t cost $ 29.95 per pound. That’s highway robbery for eating such sweet little morsels.
Customer service was friendly. Lots of other sweets to salivate over.

Some of the staff was EXTREMELY rude and unwelcoming on more than one occasion. The way I was addressed when placing my order was disrespectful and condescending. A woman wearing plugs was started to take my order before her tone and gestures made me decide that I would never spend another dollar there again. This wasn’t the first time she spoke to me with a rude tone.
If I could give this 0 stars I would. It’s never okay to speak to people with that level of an attitude, especially when those people are endorsing your business.

I don’t know what’s going on here. I think you’re actually just selling crack because I ate a pound in about 2 days. I ate your toffee at work and had an orgasm in front of my boss.

Hey Littlejohn. It’s Big Joc thanking you for making toffee that doesn’t stick to my teeth. And just so you know, I got a little bigger from the salted bacon caramel, the chocolate bunnies and the dark chocolate covered marshmallows. And by ‘a little bigger’ I mean I need to start wearing tarp for undergarments. Yeah. Thanks for that.

Hmmm a lot of the reviewers have complained about the customer service — personally as a busy professional working in the area, I really appreciated the customer service — it was quick and to the point, and they did not try to sweet talk me or waste my time. They were quick, helped me pick out what I wanted, wrapped it up, rang me up, and I was out of there and on my way back to work within 5 – 10 minutes.
In regards to the chocolate/​toffee — it’s consistently good. Great spot that is much needed in the area for a quick sugar fix or last minute gift. I am personally more of an ice cream or cupcake person than a candy person, but I think this place is on par with some of the best out there.

And after all that… no response… meaning that the managers do not care, do not care at all. This is the San Francisco of runaway rents, runaway prices, and customer service is there ONLY if it makes an inept manager LOOK GOOD. A store full of boxes… and a store full of employees who are afraid to think, afraid to act. A store full of people who have to contact a manager for their every move. I know what this is like, and it’s dreadful. I gave up ‘career goals’ & decided to keep my mind & my thinking skills. So very sorry for those who cannot or will not.

This place has really good English toffee and caramel chews. My rating is solely based upon the poor service I received here. I got two slabs (1 pound) of toffee and the sales reps asked if I wanted them boxed separately and I had said no initially. I paid for the toffee and went back to the store in the span of 5 mins to get two additional boxes of toffee. I then changed my mind and requested an empty box for the toffee I had originally bought 5 mins ago so that they can be boxed separately. The two sales reps gave me a super hostile response and said they can’t give out or sell boxes to me even though I made it clear that I had just bought the toffee a few minutes ago. As a paying and loyal customer, I really don’t appreciate how rude the exchange was and I don’t understand why they wouldn’t honor such a simple request especially when they had offered it moments ago.
5 stars for products sold here.

Candies are sweet but not the customer service.

I know this review will seem slightly bias since I am strictly writing this review in regards of the best English toffee I’ve ever had in America.
It’s a must try.
I don’t think I’ve tasted such amazing English toffee before until I’ve discovered this little gem.
They have many different choices of things which I’ve tried here and there as testers but nothing beats the English toffee here.
The price can be alittle high but given the quality and deliciousness it’s most definitely worth it.

We first got their English toffee as a holiday gift from a customer. I’m not a huge candy/​toffee person, but this toffee is really addictive! It has lots of butter and toffee flavor, accentuated with chocolate and almonds. Makes great holiday gifts.

If you are not allergic to peanuts you must should consider trying one of their English toffees… I feel like that is all I should say for my review but Unilocal is telling me to «keep on going»! So okay here it goes… If you have a sweet tooth, the minute you devour this delicacy your mind will hunger for more. My mouth is watering now thanks Unilocal.
If you are a tourist THIS IS A MUST! You will love it I’m sure but if not you can blame me for convincing you to try something new.

Took a stroll during the lunch period while on Jury Duty day and found this place.
I was given a sample of the English toffee (oh, yum), and decided to go the chocolate route and get a few dark chocolate salted caramel squares and the plain milk chocolate caramel squares. They were weighed, rung up (less than $ 5, credit cards accepted), and popped into my mouth immediately to make the dreary, mind-​numbing day go by a little faster.

My friend and I took a spontaneous trip to Little Johns Candies because it looked yummy on our way to Mr Holmes Bakehouse. I bought the dark chocolate covered salted caramel and the chocolate marshmallow. I ate them when they were slightly melted but they were still so good. The marshmallow was very light and fluffy, definitely different from store bought. The salted caramel was very sticky but full of so much flavor. My mouth literally had a salty/​sweetness shock at the exact same time. They have other pieces of chocolate and things such as brittle and chocolate covered dried fruit. Definitely give this place a shot!

Located on Market Street in the sketchy Civic Center is a small, but charming candy shop filled with handcrafted chocolates priced $ 19.95-$ 24.95/lb. The shop might be tiny and the location near riff-​raff, but their English Toffee packs a good punch. Yummy, sweet and with the right amount of hardness. The toffee was displayed in solid slabs, enrobed in chocolate and rolled in crushed roasted almonds, with no actual toffee exposed to air to protect it from that damn crunch-​altering San Francisco moisture.
I tried the English Toffee, Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter, Milk Chocolate Pistachio Toffee, Chocolate Bordeaux Butter Cream and a bite of the Regular Caramel Covered Marshmallow. My favorite was the toffee. The caramels tasted flat (do they use other sweetener in addition to corn syrup and granulated sugar?) and I downright disliked the Bordeaux butter creams. At times it was difficult to discern the flavor, except by noting the swirl pattern on top.
Toffee — Damn good stuff.
Everything else — Meh!

The staff are wonderful and the toffee is phenomenal. You can’t park anywhere on Market street. So, you definitely should park a few blocks over or stop by this place if you’re coming off Bart or are just in the area. It’s near my office, so I’m pretty lucky.

We stopped in, only for a minute. And, BLAMMO, we got a free sample of some really good English toffee. The selection looked great. The staff were as sweet as the confections.

You MUST get their almond toffee!!!
I’ve never actually been here but my amazing best friend has bought me pounds of their almond toffee and my entire family and I are obsessed! It’s just the perfect amount of sweetness and always tastes so fresh!
I’m looking forward to come to the shop and trying out other goodies!

My neighbors dropped off a box of pecan gadget and pecan toffee candies and gosh, they are amazing! So creamy and buttery; can’t wait to eat another.

I walked past Littlejohn’s the first day I got into San Francisco. They looked like a little cute candy shop. Unfortunately as I walked by they were just closing up.
On our last day in San Francisco, we made sure to return and load up on sweets. All I have are wonderful things to say about this shop. It’s a modern take on a candy shop, but it still has that charm.
A list of items we loaded up on: Chocolate Figs, Salted Chocolate Caramel, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Buttercream, Pecan Clusters and even some pistachio chocolate concoctions.
Just wow! I have loved every bite so far. They also have cutesy little boxes. :)
A half pound will run you around 12 to 13 $. Totally affordable for a little treat!

If there’s a Littlejohn, could a Bigjohn be that far behind in the wood? Don’t candy makers prance in pairs amid the happy elves, or did I just make up my own Brothers Grimm fairy tale? Anyway, their toffee brings back warm memories of my aunt coming over with a pink tin of Almond Roca. My mom wouldn’t let me have more than one at a time, but then I’d sneak three more in my shorts where they would melt and leave a telltale brown stain that I couldn’t explain with conviction. Now THAT sounds like a Brothers Grimm fairy tale sponsored by Depend undergarments. Even though Littlejohn’s has been around for decades at the Farmer’s Market down in LA, it only opened here on Market Street about a year and a half ago.
Not being that major a chocolate aficionado, I didn’t even notice Littlejohn’s until Jamie W. pointed it out to me as we were strolling on Market. And it’s only when one strolls that one notices candy shops because a more premeditated attempt to get candy would reveal a lack of will power, would it not? Oh, who cares? Me like chocolate, especially free samples. The Chocolate Dipped Apricots ($ 27.95 for a one-​pound box) are tasty treats (photo:
), and my aunt would have dropped her mahjong tiles to grab onto those. The Bacon-​Salted Caramels are undeniable in their appeal, and they’re only $ 19.95 for a one-​pound box (photo:

The Fudge is two dollars cheaper, so you can let your thighs rub against each other as you gorge on those (photo:
). But the true get is that ridiculously delicious English Toffee, which at $ 23.95 per pound, is worth its weight in calories. Well sorta. It’s that decadent mix of unsalted raw almonds, butter and sugar on the inside, combined with unsalted dry-​roasted almonds that stick to the milk chocolate on the outside (photo:
). it’s all really quite dangerous when moderation is a concept that easily escapes into yout distant memory. So don’t make a plan to go there. No, simply stroll by and just gingerly discover the store as you roll your dolly in to gather all those one-​pound boxes. I won’t tell.
CANDIES — 4 stars… the English toffee is classic, the chocolates are decadent goodies, all well turned
AMBIANCE — 3 stars… nowhere to set your ample derrière or at least mine but it is spacious
SERVICE — 3 stars… welcoming but they aren’t happy elves dying to ply you with free samples
TOTAL — 4 stars… go for the toffee, stay for the fudge… sounds like a Weight Watchers challenge to me

Looking for treats from a place we: A — hadn’t tried before; yet B — was tried & true… Littlejohn’s Candies was the obvious choice.
Picked up some Easter Chocolate for the Mr… super easy to get to, about ½ block from the Van Ness Muni station
I liked the abundance of chocolate bunnies in all kinds of poses & shapes — coming in both dark & milk chocolate varieties
Some had been decorated w/​frosting; some were just the chocolate; some were in pre-​filled boxes & baskets; (complete w/​Easter grass) while some were just the basic supplies so one could build their own basket
I also saw jelly beans & chocolate /​candy covered almonds which were the perfect «egg» partner, to my chocolate bunnies & creamy eggs
I chose smaller & ginormous chocolate-​buttercream-​filled eggs to fill my basket & verdict was that this was a nice, creamy, lightly-​flavored milk chocolate
Even though it was a bit pricey, would get it again & proudly stand behind this chocolate as gifts for friends & family — & I consider this a huge testimonial & a huge A-​OK for me
Next visit will definitely try their caramels & signature English toffee!
