I have never even been to this store, I will still give it 5 stars. The staff at this store is amazing. I had called this gallery inquiring for a vessel with a lid. After determining why I needed this item, Jesse immediately sent me different options she had on hand. She was very patient in responding to nearly every question I posed. After making my decision and purchase, the correspondence was just as attentive. Months later, the top broke off. This time around my correspondence with Sara was just as attentive and responsive. They offered to send the top to the factory(in China) for repair or recreation.(no this is not gratis but the fact that they can do it meant a lot) The process took a few months and the replacement was beautiful. I can’t thank the ladies at LiuLi enough. Not only are they selling beautiful works of art — their customer service is also best in class.

I always passed by this place because it looks bourgeoisie. Due to boredom we took a look at this Chinese glassware gallery. This place has a nice classy presentation. All the glass pieces are illuminated by light. The level of craftsmanship is staggering. The pieces I viewed ranged from $ 2,000−18,000!!! I was sure to be extra careful of my step. There is no fee for viewing, but the employees will keep an eye on you like you’re ready to trip and knock over their expensive goods. Liuli is located right next to the Museum of Craft and Folk Art and perpendicular to the Contemporary Jewish Museum.

Wow, this store and the designs are AMAZINGLY beautiful. I didn’t realize this until I went inside, but my mom bought me a glass necklace in Taiwan a few years ago. We were drawn in by the beautiful displays and I saw their designs and realized that I had one of their pieces. The store is immaculate and really modernly decorated. I don’t think I have ever seen a high-end Asian store up to this caliber. The storeclerks were very friendly and knowledgeable and we oohed and aahed over all of the glass sculptures, charms, ornaments, buddha pieces and the tea sets as well as sake sets. We bought a beautiful candle that smells like jasmine and were treated to a cup of oolong tea at the counter, which was made up of these interesting glass cubes. Very modern with a definite Chinese edge of sophistication to it. I’d definitely like to get pieces from here for my own collection.

This gallery features glass artwork of Chinese influence and style. The work itself is beautiful, and the staff are very friendly about describing it in depth, and even pointing out features! They have a sister-gallery in L.A., and the artwork rotates between the 2 galleries and the eponymous restaurants in China and Hong Kong. Bonus points to Liuli for hosting the SF Chamber Orchestra performance when the original venue canceled last-minute! TRIVIA: The«zu-yi»(roo-YEE) curve, much like a wavy shepherd’s crook, represents good luck and is prominent in many pieces of artwork. Among ancient nobility, a zu-yi was affixed with notes so reports could be made to the emperor without viewing him(which was forbidden). Commoners, by contrast, used the tool as a back-scratcher! ____ _____| /\__/\__/(please forgive my mediocre ASCII art…)

I’ll admit that I was bummed when I realized that it wasn’t going to be a high end Chinese restaurant moving into that spot, but it’s a gorgeous place to buy beautiful glass art that nobody really needs(which I suppose is the point of beautiful glass art). The lovely, very attentive gentleman who took us around was friendly and helpful. We purchased a really beautiful necklace for a friend who is addicted to LiuLi, and I can see why. Plus, the packaging is super nice, and they give you a matching gift card — perfect gift buying if you have someone who is into this type of thing.

Liuli is a thoroughly elegant gallery, one to be visited by anyone who appreciates the color and reflective qualities of original glass art pieces. The shop itself is a dramatic architectural space distinctive because of an over-sized screen at its entrance that is needlework-laden with renderings of chrysanthemums in full bloom. This enterprise was initiated in 1987 by several well known Asian film celebrities,(according to their catalog). Other gallery locations include Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Flushing, NY, and San Gabriel, CA. This gallery represents the revival of an ancient Chinese technique similar to the French pâté de verre methods. The process used involves heating crushed glass and enamels or paints which are then poured into a mold. The sales staff is extremely pleasant and knowledgeable, so I did not hesitate to browse. The prices vary from reasonable to the collector range.(A glass and silk cord necklace could be purchased for under $ 200, while limited edition pieces can go into the thousands). Anyone who appreciates beautiful craftsmanship is likely to become a regular visitor. Great wedding gift possibilities here…

My in-laws brought us a piece of Liuli artwork from a gallery in Taipei for our wedding. I instantly fell in love with the piece’s detail and design. When I heard that the artist’s gallery had just opened in SF, I took my in-laws so we could take a look. Upon entering the amazingly designed space, I knew it was going to be a great experience. Unlike a lot of galleries, the staff was friendly and talkative. They offered us tea and we had a leisurely look at the artwork while talking to the staff. There was no pressure to purchase anything. The gallery is well worth a look, even if you’re not in the market for glass artwork. Take a look, have a cup of tea and nice conversation with the friendly staff.

for years i have been an admirer and collector of art from liuli gongfang, which creates glass pieces through an ancient chinese art form of wax casting. the only unfortunate thing is that they only had galleries in asia… but no longer! about 3 weeks ago, the company opened it’s first flagship store in the united states… right here in san francisco. and like it’s galleries across asia, this location has a wide variety of inventory, including table and wall art, jewelery, tableware, and desktop accessories. i recently took a stroll through the gallery where the atmosphere was tranquil and the staff extremely friendly. however, their knowledge of the wares was somewhat minimal — which i’ll equate with the fact that the staff are still being trained — but thank god for all the little note cards they have hidden throughout. still, i can’t wait for my next visit, when, hopefully, the staff can better explain things i may have questions about!
