A bit slow but worth the wait. I’ve never had a tortilla so damn goooooood. Really hoping they get additional hours because I’d make this a once a week dinner.

I’ve been here twice now — both times on a Friday. The carnitas reign over the carne asada, but the flour tortilla(made in house) really is the star here. For $ 3 – 4, you get a good sized taco with all of the fixings and the option to add a crumbled nut and spice mix. This go around, grilled peppers were a side fixing. Come early — they run out at any time. Only open on Tuesdays and Fridays. Great snack if you’re also waiting for Delfina to clear up :)

We happened to stumble upon this place just as they were opening, so we didn’t have to wait too long. They’re based out of Tartine’s kitchen, in case you get there a little early and don’t know where to look. They were serving carne asada that night. We ordered: — 1 primo taco — the flour tortilla that gets awesome Unilocal reviews is pretty good. — 1 regular taco — just the primo minus flour tortilla/cheese/beans, but plus corn tortilla — 1 tostada — this was a small fried tostada topped with carne and I think other toppings found on the regular taco(I don’t actually remember, sorry!) We thought the food was fine, but one could find equally fine food at Cancun with more choices and less of a wait. If you’re just looking for great tortillas, they do sell them now(I think $ 4 for 12 or something like that). We may try to go back if they have fish tacos(because great fish tacos are hard to find, and perhaps these guys can pull it off), but we probably wouldn’t wait in a long line for these tacos.

When people rave about tacos, they usually rave about the meat. In the case of LOQUI, the freshly made flour tortillas totes steal the spotlight. LOQUI is a pop-up shop, situated to the left of Delfina, run by a hard-working couple. The amorphous line, which has been exponentially growing in size these last few months, is self-regulated and can serve as a source of high blood pressure. However, after 15 – 20 minutes of waiting to get beckoned to the front window, we got to try one of each of their taco offerings. The $ 5CARNEASADAPRIMOTACO is carne asada + beans + cheese + guac + onions + cilantro on a homemade flour tortilla( ). The tortillas are freshly made on the spot – you can watch the gentleman take the dough, handpress it, and grill it like a boss. The result is a slightly chewy flour tortilla that reminds me of cong yo bing(green onion pancakes). No wonder people walk away with bags of tortillas, which are available for purchase. The $ 3.50CARNEASADAREGULARTACO is carne asada + guac + onions + cilantro(no beans or cheese) on a homemade corn tortilla( ). I’m not a fan of corn tortillas at all, unless they’re in chip form, so I appreciated that the corn tortilla is freshly made and toasty when they serve it up. As for the carne asada, the meat is moist and tender. It isn’t oversalted nor over-oiled, which gives it another plus in my book. The guac isn’t anything special, but the dry salsa(dried red chiles with seeds and spices) that they offer at the front window is amazeballs. Do the beans and cheese warrant the additional $ 1.50 for the primo designation? Notrly, but the flour tortilla justifies the extra expense. Try both and see fo’ yoself. Carbs versus protein? The carbs win the battle this time. But I’ve heard their carnitas is good, so the war rages on.

Super delicious. I had already put my name down for Delfinas when I smelled the carnitas tacos. No problem. I ate half of my pizza(delicious), and then I ate a taco(well maybe 1.5 tacos since my fiancé is not as greedy as me). pork was soft and delicious. i agree that it is on the less seasoned side, but in their combination with the fresh onions and guac and salsa, it works. interestingly the salsa also doesn’t taste like it has much or any salt. i can’t wait to try to carne asada and the birria. also, thanks guys for keeping the price to $ 3 for the regular. we really need more options like that in SF!

Still up to par! Last Friday I was at the window at 7:50pm, was the 2nd group in line, and they they were taking orders by 8pm. * Carnitas Regular($ 3) — 4.5 stars * Carnitas Primo($ 5) — 5 stars * Lamb Birria($ 3) — 4.5 stars photo: As before, Loqui has awesome fresh tortillas and were thick and grainy. I didn’t realize this last time but the Primo has a flour tortilla — oh man, this this was best flour tortilla I’ve ever had! It was a little thicker than your normal tortilla, but it had just perfect texture. The carnitas were amazing. They weren’t very marinated, but the quality of the meat was incredible, very soft and hearty. Both the Primo and the Regular Carnitas came with guacamole, but the Primo also had beans. The lamb was more simple and came with salsa on top too. Menu:

They were serving carnitas the night i went, it was delicious, and i consider myself a bit of a carnitas snob. I highly recommend trying this«pop up» if you have the chance. You wont be disappointed. I will be returning:)

I’ve had their tacos on three separate occasions since I’m always in the neighborhood on the weekends and the salsa is spot on and just spicy enough to burn which I love. The tortillas have a great texture to them as well. But every time I eat the tacos the meat or fish is significantly under seasoned. Last weekend, I added the given lime and stole a dash of salt from a nearby table and viola! it was delicious. I understand that there’s a fine line between seasoned and salty but don’t be afraid!

I ordered the carne asana tacos here, regular and primo. I don’t eat too many tacos because I’m not a fan of the classic corn taco texture, but these are something else. Soft, chewy, just amazing tacos with delicious meaty fillings.

Loqui makes me feel like I did when I was 13 and a new, exciting girl moved into the neighborhood. She’s clever, she wears arm bands and designs her own T-shirts. She listens to Soul music, likes to read and play kickball. She glows and shines light onto the block and the thought of loitering around with her all summer makes the school year palatable. Loqui does for Latino food in the Mission what she did for the block. There’s love in them tacos! Whether their cooking’s inspired from memories of their abuelita’s kitchen or some debaucherous jaunt to TJ, it doesn’t matter, it’s executed with finesse, respect and creativity. Their menu changes often but EVERYTHING is worth trying. They make their own tortillas, bread(their main cook is a baker at Tartine) and salsa(they have a DRY salsa that’s red chiles ground with pumpkin seeds and other spices – awesome!), their guacamole focuses on the richness of the avocados and they grill their carne asada over hickory. If you’re in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by. You will not regret it. I won’t mention their prices because they’re WAY too low for this quality of food and are bound to change soon. I hope so because I want Loqui to stick around for a long time.
