The best vegetarian noodle soup I ever had ! So delicious and such sophisticated palate. Great service, slightest head turn on my end and someone comes to check if everything is okay . Beautiful design and pleasant atmosphere! Loved it!

Super delicious place. We ordered a few dishes, all of them are super yummy. The best thing is the dessert, the matcha tiramisu tastes like heaven. It includes heavy taste of tea leaves, and not very sweet. You really should try this place.

I love getting lunch or dinner here! The food is high quality and great presentation. I know some people will disagree that the hole in the wall place is better. It might be, but you come here for the convenience of your shopping or seeing a movie. I always get the juicy dumplings and the bang bang chicken wings are great.

mmmm, main complaint that it is overpriced for what you get. we went for lunch on saturday and the restaurant week wasnt available! SAD. so then we had to browse the extensive menu and pick out the gems — which was hard, especially because one of my friends is vegetarian. anyhoo — we got: dumplings, crispy egg rolls, XLBs, wild boar scissor cut noodles, crispy tofu, and char siu. ended everything with matcha tiramisu. sooo honestly, nothing was BAD, but everything was just okay. XLBs didnt have a whole lotta flavor, and the char siu was a bit tough. the noodles were probably my favorite thing, but if there wasnt hot sauce on the side, they’d be slightly bland! WAH! really good cocktail list! this is definitely a chic chinese restaurant ahah — less expensive than hakkasan, but i think not as delicious either, so depends on what kinda experience you want. i would probably come back but… not without hesitation.

I have eaten at many Chinese restaurants in the Bay Area. I used to catch Martin Yan on «Yan Can Cook» on PBS back in the day. Make a connection: I wanted to eat here. I was pleased with the meal I shared with my date. We had calamari, beef rolls, pork belly sliders, gai lan, and the wild boar scissor cut noodles. I liked all of it and we got a good amount of food to give this place a serious taste. The scissor cut noodles had a generous portion, but they were not too exciting. I would compare eating here to going to a nice Asian restaurant like Osha Thai. Is Thai food better than Chinese food? Maybe. it depends. I liked the location at the Westfield mall and the nice décor and interior. My friend thought the service was kind of sloppy when they placed dishes on our small table without arranging anything. It was a good experience at MY China. Yan Can Cook and will cook!

As a Chinese person, it’s tempting to be critical about how I can go elsewhere, order more/less the same dish(es), for a less expensive price. Then again, I chose to try this place so, in terms of price, I knew what I was getting into. M.Y. China, is owned by chef Martin Yan, whose TV show«Yan Can Cook» is well known by many. Because of its location in Westfield Mall in Union Square, I went in with the expectation that I will be getting authentic Chinese cooking with a Western flare. I was right. The menu caters to the Western palate as true Chinese cooking doesn’t include cold salads. My friend and I ordered the Peking Duck(a dish of crispy roasted duck skins and meat tha includes 8 housemade buns in a bamboo steamer), Grandma’s Gai Lan w/garlic & Chinese sausage, and Wild Boar Scissor Cut Noodles. Highlight: I know the Chinese side of me was coming out because when the broccoli dish came out, and as much I liked the crunchiness, I really wanted oyster sauce to compliment it; I asked our waiter for some, she looked confused/unsure and had to ask around. Good thing, though, one of her staff members came through and gave us a small dish of oyster sauce… lol. A plus for awesome service, décor, and the food being tasty, but, I personally, may dine here less often as I can order the same food at a different restaurant for a lesser price. Of course, as I said, the price does fit the environment in which it’s located.

XLB and seafood dumplings were amazing appetizers! 5 stars Rice cake with wild boar and cabbage was bursting with flavor and very generously portioned: P 5 stars Cumin lamb was just ok. The chunks of lamb were a bit too big and could have been more tender. 3 stars Overall, a great experience and perfect pre-movie dinner spot. Request«outside» seating for a beautiful view of the dome.

While we were waiting for our table, we were greeted by a middle aged ‘chef’ carrying a bluetooth speaker blasting ‘Gangnam Style’ while he gyrated his hips and swung his limp noodle(s) around the restaurant. This was probably the highlight of the whole night for us. The low point of the night came shortly after the ‘Think You Can Noodle Dance’ audition when the Scissor Cut Wild Boar noodles arrived. To put it mildly, I think I’ve had better noodles at Panda Express. One would think to label a dish Scissor Cut Wild Boar, there would actually have to be some Wild Boar in it. Ours barely had any in it. which I thought would be salvaged by the famous Scissor Cut noodles. Wrong again. These noodles were totally lacking in flavor and could have totally used some kind of sauce. I’m also at a loss to discern the difference between these and non scissor cut noodles. I suppose it’s about what I expected from a Chinese mall restaurant.

Decent, good-quality Chinese food that’s dressed up and priced for the venue’s showcase location right beneath the dome of the Westfield. The Shandong beef rolls with hoisin sauce, for example, are good enough for a small meal and have enough beef in them to justify the price. The squid ink snap noodles with shrimp, scallops, and calamari were also a decent choice and, again, had enough seafood relative to the price. Neither dish tasted all that memorable — if anything, it was all sanitized for Western tastes — but nothing was objectionable either. If you’re a fan of Martin Yan, this beautiful venue is worth a visit. There’s a massive bell from a Chinese monastery that weighs almost a ton, and there’s also a noodle chef who pulls honest-to-goodness, mile-long noodles in front of you for entertainment value.

Came here during a lunch rush. The wait was a bit longer than expected, but they were pretty attentive. Waters were constantly refilled, dishes taken away, we were asked how our meal was … Impressive for a packed restaurant during lunch at Westfield. The food was above average, better than many mom and pop places. The prices are a bit higher than it should be, and portions are smaller than Chinese joints in the East Bay, but it’s not surprising given the area around here. All in all it was an enjoyable experience. I would probably give them another try when they weren’t so busy. 3.5 Stars rounded to 4.

Came here for lunch with a friend on a Saturday and the place was actually pretty packed. I was surprised given how large the restaurant was. Anyways, M.Y. China serves actually pretty authentic Chinese food for a pretty high price. Would recommend making a reservation on OpenTable since they have a lot of available reservations but there was a bit of a wait for walk in. My friend and I got: soup dumplings, wild boar noodles, sauteed beef, and the pork buns. Soup dumplings are really interesting here because they’re served to you in a spoon, which eliminates the hardest part of eating a soup dumpling — the part of picking it up. That being said, there was still not a ton of soup and the bottom of my soup dumpling was really moist… which was not pleasant. Not super delicious. The pork buns we had were solid, but like good pork buns anywhere. Sauteed beef and noodles were all decent, but nothing to rave about. Overall, the quality of the food is good, but these four dishes came out to be about $ 70 – 80 dollars which is ridiculous for lunch. The food wasn’t that much better than stuff that I can get from Chinatown, and those places are a lot more easily accessible than having to go to the fourth floor of a mall. tldr; it’s authentic, but the prices are really high and the food is only really okay

Tis the season, where I go downtown, embrace the 30 person line at the mall and eat dinner at M.Y. China. I came here with a friend and I wasn’t sure what to expect! Of course, we ordered drinks which included this smoked apple cocktail(super strong) and a cucumber ginger drink which was amazingly refreshing. A friend recommended us try the Mao Chicken and Big Knife noodles. I really didn’t know where to start on the menu just because I was a bit overwhelmed. I guess I’m used to ordering certain things at Chinese restaurants but I’m glad I tried something new! First off if you’re a fan of XO sauce which I am, you definitely need to try the Big Knife noodles. It’s basically seafood stir fried with wide rice noodles, eggs, mushrooms and XO sauce :) the Mao Chicken was alright, nothing crazy special but it was very tender for white meat. Also their balsamic sauce that came for dipping was A+!!! We finished off with their puffed egg pastry which was the best I’ve ever had. So light and fluffy. Everything I love about beignets and eggettes rolled into one. Over all, the tab came out to around $ 90 – 100 after tax. Each entrée was $ 18, each drink was $ 13 and the dessert was like $ 12? Not too bad, and apparently they have happy hour which I’ll be back for!

Underwhelmed. Where’s the flavor? The spice? The sauce? Everything we ordered had great potential to be delish, but just missed the mark and left us wanting to order more to fill the void. The best part of my meal? The tea! How sad. Recap: The wild boar scissor cut noodles were way too dry, borderline bland, and skimpy on the meat. The 7-spice pork ribs were $ 18 for 5 ribs. Not worth it. Service was brusque, obviously wanting to keep tables turning unless we were ordering more. Though, they did refill our teapot at no charge, which was a nice bonus. I will say, the ambiance is definitely nice for a mall restaurant. It’s strangely both upscale and family friendly, packed with large groups(definitely make a reservation). Random note: there was a chef bouncing around the dining room, twirling noodles in a rave-style dance, while playing Gangnam Style on a portable stereo. Ok! *If* I go back, I’ll need some better recommendations for ordering.

Although Yan’s famous line is «If Yan can cook, so can you» aint so true for me, but it is for Yan! I surely believe Yan can definitely cook! M.Y. China is located inside a big mall that has Bloomingdales and Nordstorm which is by the beautiful dome. Because it is an upscale restro, the price is a little higher compare to other regular chinese cuisine. It cant be compared! I believe MY China has partnership with the owners of Koi Palace. I was very pleased with all the fresh ingredients in all the dishes we ordered, all tasted simple in a good way, it wasnt too salty or had too much flavor, but it did had the right amount of flavor in each dish. Also, the way it was cooked was perfect, I did not see any trace of overcooked or undercooked. The duck had flavor, skin was crispy, and did not have too much fat, it was also nicely sliced. The bun for the duck came out super hot and super fresh! We had to order 2 extra! The lamb was soft and good as well! The service was pretty slow and unattentive. It took a very long time for our 1st and also our 2nd martini to come out. We spent probably almost 2 hours dining there, not that we were busy eating or mingling, but mainly because we were waiting to be served . Yan was super kind to come to our table and greeted us and took photos with us. It made up for the slow service, we were grateful. Thanks Mr. Yan!

3 words: Very Expensive Letdown. First and foremost, the hostesses need retraining. I do not need to feel forced to watch them discuss whatever they are discussing that has absolutely nothing to do with me. I had a reservation, I made it a point to be exactly on time. Seat me first then giggle and talk about whatever you like. Professionalism. The space itself feels and looks like you are in an airport. It isn’t comfortable or luxurious. The prices do not match the space. I was seated at an end table in the outer perimeter of the restaurant which was nice, but with the tables unnecessarily close together, watching my dishes quickly fill that tiny table was overwhelming. Limited elbow room due to the party at the table beside me made trying to eat comfortably annoying. If you want to buy the most overpriced XLB, try it here! 6 pieces for the price of an entrée. It was good, but not that good. Now that I think of it, Dragon Beaux has a similarly priced XLB with the same amount of dumplings. I do not recommend, I would not reorder this. The overcooked chicken wings were saturated with a sweet and salty sauce that made eating one wing enough for me. Steamed Fish. This was delicious but overpriced. The long stalks of vegetables were awkward to eat but they were cooked correctly. The squid ink snap noodle? OUTSTANDING. Wonderfully balanced with perfectly cooked seafood alongside toothsome noodles. This was perfection on a plate. If I only ordered this, my review would have a different tone. My egg puffs were hollow. I basically poured the random dipping sauces inside of them to eat. Such a shame to not have the lovely tender web-like center to contrast with the crisp sugary outside. I’d be happy to have a properly cooked egg puff without the sauce distraction. The highlight of my visit? My server. She was attentive and professional. Polished. The busers were also excellent. They deserve 5 stars. When I consider the price point, the stressful feeling of being crammed into a space, and the weird reception, I would not recommend this restaurant. I could have spent the same money at Koi Palace for an amazing meal in a comfortable dining space. If you are in the mall in jeans and a t-shirt, sure. Come by for a bowl of noodle soup(I spied a LOT of folks having that). If you dress well, go to Lark Creek Steak across the way for a more refined dining experience at a similar price point.

I have been wanting to try M.Y. China and finally got there last night. Made reservation of a late dinner at 8:15 pm. and met my daughter at the Westfields Mall 4th floor. The restaurant is beautiful next to the Rotunda of the Mall. We sat at a corner booth and ordered a bottle of Cannonball Cab for the table. We ordered the following dishes: Pork Belly Sliders 5 stars excellent with some pickled radishes inside Shandong Beef Rolls 4 stars strips of beef steak in flakey skin. Trio of pickles 3 stars shredded daikon, pickled radishes, and pickled squash. Steamed Sea Bass 5 stars excellent fresh slices of sea bass. small portions though. Shandong Lobster Clay Pot 5 stars comes in clay pot with glass noodles. Wok Seared Beef Filet 4 stars on a bed of arugula great taste very small portion for $ 19 Stir-fried Green Beans 3 stars very salty, soft, Scissor — Cut Wild Boar Noodles 4 stars very good, Noodles were not to thick. Ambiance = 5 stars Service = 4 stars Parking across the street in lot at 5th and Mission. $ 214 before tip.

What $ 20 Will Get You @ M.Y. China: 1) A pickup lunch labeled as the«Dim Sum Collection»(fka dim sum). 2) Two good sized and tasty Shiu Mai and two Har Gow. 3) Two surprisingly unique Farmer’s Dumplings with diced yam, pumpkin and crunchy bamboo shoots. 4) An unremarkable Steamed BBQ Pork Bao and two would’ve-been-cool-with-more-Har-Gow-instead Seafood Dumplings. 5) An extremely gloppy, overcooked and unappetizing pile of rice wrapped in lotus leaves. 6) A clueless hostess. 7) A promise to return to M.Y. China only if someone else is footing the bill. 8) A Note to Self to go to nearby La Cocina to eat all the sugary things.

I was told by my friend that they had tasty appetizers here and the prices were significantly lower than the original since we came here during rush hour. ATMOSPHERE: It wasn’t crowded at all when we came in and was greeted immediately by the host. She told us that we could sit anywhere so we seated in a bar-like area where we could see the staff prepare food which made it seem more authentic. FOOD: I didn’t know what to order so I just let my friend order. We got the calamari, pork in a bun, and shumai. Calamari: 5⁄5 — Oh. My. Gosh. These were probably one of the best calamari I’ve ever had! The chewiness and crunchiness were perfection and I was a bit saddened when we ate it all. This is something I HIGHLY suggest ordering! Pork in a bun: 3⁄5 — I’ve had something like this similar from the Philippines and it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be in comparison with the ones my grandma usually bought me from the Philippines. Shumai: 3⁄5 — Not gonna lie, these shumai we’re tasty but they weren’t the best. I would say they were a bit above average. They tasted significantly better with the sauce so don’t forget to dip it! One thing I didn’t like was that the water they gave us(they give you water in a vase) wasn’t cold at all. It definitely was lukewarm and I didn’t like that. CUSTOMERSERVICE: At first, they were very prompt but got slower during check out. I looked around and there weren’t many patrons dining in. Would I come back here? Yeah, I would for happy hour. Would I recommend this to my friends? Sure!

One of those restaurants located at the top dome of the Westfield mall. They have outdoor seatings that are part of the mall. Since it was my first tine coming here with my mom, we asked the host if we could browse the inside of restaurant first before we decided to dine in. Very modern trendy ambiance with the asian/Chinese theme since it is a chinese restaurant. They had that somewhat looking bell by the bar area. Had like an open kitchen. Told the host that we decided to dine in. He didnt ask us if we wanted to sit indoor. Not sure if they wanted to fill the seats outside first even though there were actually people inside. Anyways, lets talk about the foods. 1. Mu shu pork tacos(comes in 2). They put too much of the green onions. The meat has a good amount of flavor 2. Chicken wings. Although its a tasty chicken, Had a lot of sweetness flavor on the skin in the beginning when i first bite into it. taste better with the rice 3. Squid ink snap noodle with seafood. Theres more vegetables/bell peppers than the seafood proteins. The squid ink snap noodle, never taste the squid ink on noodle before so taste wise was not bad. Interesting flavor. There was some juice at the bottom of the plate that had some salty flavor Decent experience here
