Very nice people, I do not understand why they have 2.5 stars. They’ve always been helpful and kind.

Great people, excellent service. One time I was in a squeeze and needed to purchase a pen and the kind lady gave me hers.

I really liked coming here. It’s not particularly polished — the walls are lined with keepsakes like a Peruvian flag — but they’re really helpful and when I showed up there was no line. They helped me file my first money order, something that would have a fraught experience at a USPS, and it seems like they could do most anything else shipping-​related (I saw a FedEx sign in the corner). They also picked up on the first ring when I checked to see if they did money orders. I hope this place stays in business. They have a lot of character.

I am a local business owner and I absolutely love this place.
Much shorter lines than the post office, and the staff is very friendly and highly efficient. I use Mail Carrier etc, exclusively for all of my outgoing mail and packages.

Wow. Like some have said, I’m wondering what alternate reality the one and two star reviewers come from. Welcome to the real world (although, maybe San Francisco doesn’t merit that title anymore).
I’m the business owner/​operator of three different enterprises, and I use the Mail Carrier as my primary address. I’ve been getting my mail here for 18 years. Not only do the staff here look out for my interests in general, but they’ve assisted me in some very complicated situations involving receiving and sending packages, etc. At this point, I’d be afraid of using another service; the Mail Carrier has become in integral part of my operation. My only complaint (if any) are the occasional weekends/​holidays that they are closed (but perhaps the instant access of the internet has spoiled me).
I’m honestly trying to figure out how people can’t understand rules like not parking one’s bike in the doorway, etc. Victor, Anna and company have never been anything other than gracious to me. I recommend them highly.

All of my experiences here have been easy, filled with warmth. They’re good people. I live a little farther away now but still come here when I need them because I’ve developed a sense of loyalty born of trust and positive exchanges. Thanks, my trusty postal friends!

TERRIBLE!!!
In the midst of filling out some shipping documents after being helped by the woman working the front counter the owner of the business came out of the back to tell me my dog was not allowed inside.
My dog has California assistance tags. I explained to him that she has her assistance tags and that CA assistance animals are allowed inside businesses. The owner then stated that «I did not have a disability» and that my dog could not be there.
He refused my business… and I was about to shell over a significant amount of cash (also really shady that this is a cash only business.) for my shipping as well.
My place of business has been using his company for shipping and faxing for over 3 years now. It’s a major disappointment to see such ignorance… especially when they are your neighbors. Myself and my place of employment will not be doing business here ever again.

Refreshingly functional visit! Given the scathing 1-​star reviews, I wanted to share my positive experience. I was shipping a boxed bike (53“x30“x9″) and had a prepaid FedEx label in hand. After reading the reviews, I was cautious and called ahead of time. The woman who picked up the phone, Anna, cheerfully told me that of course they accept drop-​offs. She explained that the shop is small without room to store a large bike box all day, but I could bring it around 3pm since FedEx picks up at 4pm. Cool! When I arrived, Anna was friendly and professional. She gave me a clear FedEx pouch for my label and told me again that the FedEx guy would be there around 4pm. She pointed reassuringly at the pile of other boxes waiting to go out. I’m extremely protective of my bike but I left feeling sure that, at least on this end, things were in good hands. (What happens in the hands of FedEx is another question.) Thanks, Anna!

AVOID AT ALL COST! These guys are crooks. I tried dropping a UPS prepaid package off here and an older gentleman tried convincing me that UPS now charges a required drop off fee of $ 2!?! Its PREPAID. He’s like yeah thats how it goes, its not us, its UPS.
I walked out and the UPS guy happened to pull up right then and I asked him about it and he said thats Bullsh*t. Later I looked up UPS website which also confirmed they never charge for prepaid. return shipments.
Previously, I also had an electronics package that went missing after dropping them off here. You can’t make this stuff up. These guys SUCK.

MAILBOX RENTAL — UNSECURED PACKAGES, POOR SERVICE
Customer since they opened, did not forward ONE SINGLE PIECE OF MAIL but cashed my check to pay for forwarding.
Victor, I put up with a lot in our years together, but I thought you’d treat us better than this.

I heart the family that runs this place– so kind and helpful. They knew me by my box number right away just after my going a handful of times! And it’s the law that they can’t post mail past the time of regular post offices– which is 5 p.m. so just be aware of that and it’s all gravy!

It’s true. They are slow, non-​communicative. I live less than a block away and thought the convenience was worth it, but now I’m rethinking this. The USPS is horrible, too. Not sure what to do … Any suggestions, Unilocalers?

I’ve only used this place once in the three plus years I’ve been in this neighborhood. It’s surprisingly inconvenient, and expensive, and the (short, dark-​haired) guy at the counter is lacking in friendliness. I’m honestly surprised he’s stil in business.

Worst customer service ever, not even a Hello back! Overcharges beyond reasonable: Was quoted $ 13.74 for first class, went to post office and paid $ 9.50 for PRIORITY!
Don’t even bother just go to the 24^th street post office. Would give them 0 stars if I could! NEVER AGAIN…

Terrible!!! They will over charge you beyond reasonable amounts. I recently thought I would send a FedEx envelope to Japan from here. They charged me $ 80 in cash. I checked into it and FedEx only charges $ 47.86. I was beyond upset. I felt like this was a ridiculous mark-​up.
I demanded a refund and they gave me 75% or $ 60 back. Please don’t support this business!

This place gets a star for at least providing a service closer than the Post Office — it’s nice to be able to mail something only a block from home before work.
But the bad news is, something goes wrong every single time I go there. The best (but very typical) examples I can think of are the time the person behind the counter was on the phone for five or six minutes while I stood there ready to do business and clearly presenting myself as ready… or the time the very same thing happened and THEN the person behind the counter greeted another customer who had come in minutes after me – started up a conversation with them and then proceeded to serve them first while they brushed right by me and inserted themselves between me and the counter.
I’ve never had any negative personal interactions with them so I don’t think I’m being singled out for retribution or anything. There’s just some kind of missing sense of ordinary customer service.

This is one of those occasions where I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality.
I’ve been renting a box here for a few years, and have always found the owner and the workers here to be completely sweet and helpful.
In fact, they go beyond the call of duty — I’ve on a few occasions had giant boxes arrive and have been out of town, so they’ve sat there for a few days. Have I gotten any complaints? Not a one.
It’s true that they don’t want any bikes in the shop, and they do stop accepting mail at 5pm but then stay open til 6pm — apparently that’s some sort of USPS regulation for Postal Sub-​Stations. It is frustrating to find a place that’s open but won’t do what you want. I feel like that’s responsible for most of the bad reviews, but it isn’t their fault.
Or maybe I’m just living in a parallel universe where these guys are nice.

Holy shit this city reeks of entitlement. Awww, the owner of a business enforced the fire code by telling you (you!) not to prop your bike up in the doorway, even just for one minute? And he didn’t kiss your ass when he told you? You poor, righteously indignant thing. And awww, the owner of a business doesn’t want to set a precedent of continuing to provide a service each day that he’s only contracted to provide until 5:00pm, after 5:00pm? Maybe not the way I would do business, but it’s not my business, it’s his, and he has every right to close down operations at the stated closing time, even if it’s you (you!) who walk through the still-​open door after the clock strikes 5:00pm.
I’ve come to this place many times, and while I wish they provided more services, I have never had any problems with the customer service from either the owner or the very nice lady who is usually working when I come in. Then again, I know how to say «please,» «thank you,» and «oh well, that’s life.»

Just like other reviewers, I think the owner is extremely rude. I don’t know how businesses like this survive. After forgetting to bring my bike lock I asked them if I could leave my bike in the doorway so I could open up a PO Box. The owner acted as if I had asked if I could poop on the floor. He made me feel as if I were a horrible person for asking and I mentioned that he just lost a new customer when he said– «Eh, so what? Those are the rules.»
I would only recommend using this joint if you are a masochist.

I have often wondered how this place stays in business, but after today, I am absolutely convinced they HAVE to be laundering drug money or something.
Even though they were open, they refused to sell me stamps because it was after 5PM. I hadn’t been aware of the stamp prohibition, and had planned a big wild stamplicking party with friends. We had all planned to get stampfaced and tear up the town, but were almost thwarted by this guy. I had to walk a whole block away to get them from an ATM.
This store is 2 blocks from a post office, so you would think they would specialize in being open later or at odd hours or something to compete. You would be wrong though. This place is open LESS hours than the real post office. Figure that out…
You are way better off walking to the real post office a few blocks away.
