The DJ sucked!!! He couldn’t stick with one good beat and song. Total shitty DJ on 5÷28÷16. The place was pretty cool but overly crowded so couldn’t dance without getting hit or hitting someone. I would check it out before heading to a better spot.

The bartender treated me like I was stupid because I asked about one of the sour beers on the menu, then ignored me. Sorry if I want to know about the selections on your menu.

Rude staff. I didn’t have enough cash for tip, told the bartender I would come back with more cash. The bartender ignored me when i returned from the atm. He tried to lecture me about Bernie Sanders, and he refused to take my next order. Wtf?

This place is cool if your going to see a specific band or performer. Upon entrance at the door they charged an exorbitant $ 12 cover charge and only took cash at their bar. The spot feels like your typical mission dive bar, but with a stage and a little dance floor that was made by clearing out the chairs. Go for a band you follow, or if you like the mission hipster grunge scene then this place is for you for dam show. Cons: they packed this place pretty full, which was surprising because the cover was so much money! Also beers ranged from 6 – 8 $ which isn’t bad but considering the cover, you end up having to spend a lot of you want to drink at all.

What’s up with the lame ass bartenders? Dude said I need to tip him after serving one drink otherwise, fuck this place. Don’t even bother coming here. Nothing is great about the place, not the music, not the atmosphere, everyone dances so awkwardly, it’s pathetic to be honest, and remember, if you want more than 1 fucking drink get ready to pay more tips than the actual drink.

I went in there to have a couple of drinks in there with my Friends and the rude bartender said because I didn’t tip him on the first shot he wasn’t going to take my order, what kind off customers service is that? Completely unacceptable!

EVENT: it’s 9:30pm… it’s after dinner. we walked around… trying to find a place to sit and drink… and do some chatting… we had great parking already and didn’t want to move. LOL! We thought this place had an interesting name… make-out room? haha… that’s something to try… DRINKS — $ 4, $ 6 bucks! I guess not so bad. Seating… interesting — wheely chairs and tiny round tables… Music — some salsa, so old school music = love it!!! Love the VIBE! Totally cool! Will come back again!

If only Unilocal had an option for zero stars… this place tops my list for the worst spot in San Francisco. Here’s to «quality» service and an immaculate environment. 1. Friends and I popped in at 10:30pm on a Friday night. Right when we entered, we were rushed to pull our ID’s out to show the doormen(**note** there was absolutely no line). 2. Ordered 1 vodka tonic and 1 ginger whiskey. Then a friend popped in and added another one of each to the order. The female bartender’s response«what else?» Me «that’s all for us.» Her, «Okay good, don’t waste my time and make me add another drink to your order!» 3. My friend was pulling out cash at the atm as the drinks were being made. The bartender scolded us and said«WHYTHE F! CKDONTYOUHAVECASHREADY?!» 4. Our friend returned with cash and we handed her $ 20 for the 4 drinks. Of course, at this point, there is absolutely no reason to reward her for her stalwartly service, so no tip was given. 5. Another scolding«NEVER F! CKINGCOMEBACKHEREAGAIN!!!» 6. The décor is painfully tacky and the place is filthy.

Friends and I went here. Thought the place had an awesome vibe and good music but nearing the end of the night a tall black man who worked there was harassing customers to the point of trying to fight people. He for no reason tried to kick my friend that was behind him courteously bussing his glasses and then persisted to spray bleach in my friends face. When my friend got incredibly angry with obvious reason the bartenders kicked him out and tried to explain why they had to keep that person working with the company because he’s been there for so long. The bartender even admitted that he was very unstable but was basically allowing such behavior. If I had an establishment and someone working there that threatened customers, I’d fire them immediately. This was definitely the strangest occurrence of unprofessionalism I’ve witnessed yet.

Music is great, bartenders, not so much. Can we please add either«hustle» or more bartenders? I was getting beers faster at the coat check than at the bar. I am not exagerating… for real. These guys were going 20 mph at at the Autobahn. Did I forget to mention this is a cash only place? I understand cash only, but slow service? I’m top of that, my friend was sitting at the bar waiting for me, these girls next to her asked to get a drink and waited 25 minutes. So, my friend vas vocal, asked who was servicing this area of the bar and the bar back ended up getting shots for the girl. Then the bartender came and told the bar back to charge the girls $ 10EXTRA. He then proceeded to tell everyone at the bar that my friend should never be serviced again. I had to leave the place, go to the bar next door to get a drink and then come back. I’ll have a better party at my local bar, hire a dj and tell girls is 2×1 drinks than at this place.

Nice little, divey, stop-over joint in the Mission. The décor is fun, and the drinks are cheap!

Pretty much a typical divey venue in my book, with the added ambience of live acts on various nights. When there isn’t something live going on, the music can vary greatly. The crowd also varies greatly too. Not much I can say besides a divey atmosphere, a large space conducive to dancing when the music allows, and fairly reasonable prices on a decent array of drink choices.

I come here regularly with my husband. WE Absolutely love DJ Kool Kyle’s mix of music. He is the absolute best! It may not be the fanciest place in town, but it sure does harvest the perfect environment to have some good ol’ fun. My only complaints are the air quality inside and the bartenders. After 10:30pm it becomes a sauna inside. It is so cool that it gets crowded but I think there should be a better system to get some ventilation up by the stage/dance floor. After two songs of dancing, you can bet you are sweating bullets! It’s cool that drinks are decently priced… but some of the bartenders behave like they hate being there. Wait times for drinks are also really long. The dark haired female bartender has a bit of an attitude. I always try leaving a few extra bucks tip to kinda cheer her up but she just grabs it and tosses it aggressively into their tip bucket. I would definitely recommend saturday nights to any latin dancing fans. It rocks here guys, seriously.

Came to this place last Saturday night and I have to say, I was actually pleased. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much(just like most places in SF) but the cheap drinks and great salsa mix kept me there for longer than I expected. My party and I came around 11 and left by 1:30. The dance floor wasn’t as big but it drew a large crowd in. There was no line when we came but as we came out for fresh air throughout the night, the line outside to get in was getting longer and longer. The only complaint I have was that it felt so suffocating while dancing. I felt no type of circulation in that place at all. Can’t say much for the bathrooms since I didn’t use it but it seemed pretty inconvenient that the men’s bathroom door was right across from the bar and every time someone came out a whiff of bathroom stench would wafer out to whoever was standing near it. 4 stars for cheap drinks, good music, and interesting choice of decoration.

Cool space. Horrible Service! They only take cash, really? With a $ 3.50 charge at ATM. C’mon, get with the times. Tatted up, dark haired bartender a total B with a bad attitude. Went there with some friends last night to celebrate. First round… ordered 2 drinks, gave her a $ 20 she gave me back ones. Left $ 2 tip on bar, walked away. Second round of drinks, bartender ignoring us, then finally comes over after my friend flags her down. Starts yelling at us… accusing me of not leaving her a tip that and I left my ATM receipt on the bar for her to clean up. Wanted to know if the ATM receipt was supposed to be her tip. Being completely ridiculous. Totally ruined the night, my friends and I will NEVER be back.

Ambiance: We got there at 10 and the crowd was mostly older Caucasians, but as the night went on, it became more diverse in age and race. The place has a divey bar vibe and has a space in the middle to dance. Drinks were $ 7 – 12. Music: We came here looking for some Latin music. The DJ played mostly cumbia and one old merengue. He also played some salsa which I did not rec

I can’t say many of the people there dance well but then again as long as you’re having fun, who cares, right? My friends were not feeling it and wanted to leave but it was an interesting experience.

Charlie Jane Anders’s impromptu(or not improve? who knows, she’s so good!) hosting is so on point. If I took one thing from that night it was that they were selling(?) or accepting donations(?) of hippopotamus’ spoof. What else do you need to know in life? I’ve wanted to check out Writers with Drinks for a long time and I am so glad that I got to see one right before traveling. Here’s the website: . The one I went to in Jan had an eclectic group of writers. My personal favorite was poems by Sandra Lim. The perfect balance of sarcasm, optimism, cynicism, and hope framed perfectly by beautifully flowing words. I got a signed copy afterwards. Was happy. The event space itself is really nice. Pay cash at the door. Was sad to not witness any make-out seshes. Pretty crowded, but people were polite and very civil about make room for people who were standing. Limited amount of seating. My friend and I took turns getting drinks and saving each other’s spot, so it was pretty painless. Very reasonably priced and delicious drinks! Definitely want to check out future events when I’m in town. If anything, just to see Charlie. Just amazing.

This place is crazy crowded for a Tuesday night at 11pm. Had no idea. After a terrific dinner and old co worker and I werent quite ready to head home yet so we got a drink here. Kentucky Mule and Mezcal to cap the night. Luckily we caught a booth but it was decently full and people were working the dance floor. the people are all over the place and it’s interesting people watching for sure. Otherwise It’s a decent bar with a kooky charm

The Make-Out Room is one of the few original bars left in SF. And when I say original, I’m not only referring to the fact that it’s been an anchor business in the neighborhood since the mid-90’s, but also that it continues to host a range of local talent — authors, bands and DJs — that have been a part of the community for some time. And with the closing of other local watering holes like the Attic, Pop’s and Jack’s, it increasingly serves as somewhat of a refuge for otherwise displaced artists, writers and creative types that don’t necessarily have the income or inclination to frequent some of the city’s newer, pricier, and more boutique establishments aimed at a very different, and more recently transplanted, audience. That said, you can catch some of the city’s best up-and-coming bands during one of their frequent happy hour shows, and some of the city’s best DJs on choice weeknights. Not to be missed are the Tuesday night Slow Jams party with Primo and Lucky(San Francisco’s best oldies DJs), the Thursday night Web of Sound party with Jackie Sugarlumps(San Francisco’s best 60’s garage DJ) and the Friday night 2000’s party Last Nite(some of San Francisco’s best indie DJs.) Go for the happy hour, stay for the show. Leave a nice review as well. We don’t have many real places left and this is one of them.

Went out last night for a DJ spin… good times… OK general prices to be expected. Looks like a prom inside… but I think that’s what they are going for. There was a live reggae band before the spin, could hear them all over the bar. Small spot, clean bathroom. Nice bartenders, pretty quick even when it was PACKED.
