Jan is a great coach, prior to working with Jan, I could not for the life of me do 1 pull up, push up, or squat correctly, I was always over weight (still am currently) but since working with Jan since august, I have not only lost weight and gone down 2 shirt size and 4in off my pant size, I have grown stronger and feel better overall. Jan keeps me accountable for my results which really helps keep me focused on this long journey to become the strongest version of myself.

I’ve worked out with various personal trainers at reputable gyms over the last six years, and Jan easily stands out above the rest. His commitment and enthusiasm for helping me achieve my goals were the first big difference I noticed right away. In my experience, most trainers bring a fair amount of enthusiasm to sessions with their new clients, but inevitably, they begin to lose that enthusiasm once the client is no longer new. Once that happens, each session becomes less productive than the last. I’ve been working out with Jan every week for about two years now, and he still brings the same energy and enthusiasm to every workout as he did to our very first session. I don’t know how he does, but I’m grateful for it. I’ve had about 200 sessions with Jan, and I’ve yet to leave even once feeling like I didn’t get my money’s worth.
Beyond Jan’s energy, commitment and enthusiasm, he is incredibly knowledgeable about his field. He tailors our sessions to meet my goals while at the same time taking care of two chronic issues that I’ve had for many years with my shoulder and my lower back. When I’m making it to my sessions, I feel great all week long and have no pain. He regularly changes up our routine, which keeps it interesting and makes me use and stretch muscles I didn’t know I had.
Before I started working with Jan, I was on a downward slide, losing muscle and gaining fat for about 6 or 7 years. Jan has completely turned that trend around, which I wasn’t sure would be possible at my age. I cannot recommend Jan strongly enough to anyone who wants to see dramatic results and feel great!

If you really want to work on your health, be strong, change your life to be better, and do personal training, I really recommend Jan to be your personal trainer.
When my cousin Jannah was looking for a personal trainer in 2013, I recommended Jan to her because Jan’s own personal story was very inspiring and motivating and I know that he is a good personal trainer. When my cousin trained with him, she said she really had a good workout and how much she liked training with Jan and I should attend one of his bootcamps. I attended one of his bootcamps and I can tell how much he loves and cares about his job and making a difference in people’s lives. His bootcamp was a lot of fun and it really kicked my butt.
A year later, in November 2014 I decided to train with Jan and doing personal training with Jan is the best decision that I have made for my health. I wanted him to show me exercises I have to work on so I can be healthy and fit. I didn’t know what steps to take so I can be toned and gain muscle and I knew working with Jan he can really help me. Within two months training with him, he has sent me exercises, videos, and notes of the work outs that I have done with him. His emails were so useful, helpful and very detailed and I really like that because it’s a good guide from what I am learning from him and the steps I have to take to be stronger and be toned. He takes the time to show me of what I have to do.
Jan is not only a personal trainer to me but he is also a life coach. One of the biggest things he has taught me is to not stress and be positive. Training with him for 9 months has been great. Personal training with Jan make me feel better and make me feel stronger because when I feel that I can’t do something, he will push me to do the exercise and say that I can do it. I feel good about myself after training with him. I am so lucky to have Jan my personal trainer because he is supportive and a very positive person. He is a good person, and he loves what he does. He is very motivating and inspiring. He pushes me, motivates me, and inspires me to do better than I was yesterday. When you text him a question, he is responsive. When we have conversations, questions he asked me make me think and he reminds me to think positive. I have learned to be positive and feel I can do anything because of him.
Thank you Jan for all you do and continue to inspire and motivate people to change their life. I highly recommend other people to work him because he is dedicated in what he does and his positive energy brightens your day to live life to the fullest and how personal training can change your life for the better of your health. He truly cares about the people he works with and he is knowledgeable in what he does. I really love this from him when he says, «Learn it, Know it, and dominate it» and another one is «things happen for a reason, and it will only make you a stronger person.» His words are positive and motivating that have help me to keep working on my health. Jan truly cares about each and every client and puts a ton of effort to deliver the best experience possible.
He strategically plans his sessions with individualized fitness goals so each session is precisely tailored for the right killer workout. As a Division I NCAA athlete I have worked with a bunch of trainers. Jan is definitely the best trainer I have ever worked with. You will appreciate Jan’s expertise and high standards as a stickler for perfect form and spends a lot of time getting you properly prepared for every workout session.
To keep the workouts challenging and interesting, Jan has met me throughout the city to cross train indoors and out. I can’t express how awesome Jan has been. I recommend anyone to train with Jan if you’re seriously looking to increase your fitness level.

Jan is a true professional. Incredibly knowledgeable about kinesthesiology and fitness, he’s able to work with people across the fitness spectrum. He’s great at finding exercises/​goals that are just out of reach but realistically attainable, which inspires you to go the extra mile. Every time he gives me a piece of advice or asks me to try something I’m iffy about, I go with it because listening to Jan has only brought positives into my life.

I trained with Jan for 18 months and really loved it. I was pretty hesitant, nervous and intimidated to start with a trainer, but Jan made me so comfortable from the start. He’s such a great guy with a great personality. I went from 0 push-​ups to 25. And — I even feel comfortable to lift weights on my own now!

Jan is an amazing trainer. Not only is he he knowledgeable about strength and conditioning and cardio workouts, but he can cater to and is specific with his workouts to injuries his clients may have. I had knee surgery 14 years ago and my knee is still not as strong as the other. When I workout, or specifically run, it causes me a lot of pain. Jan would focus on my knee before any training session by doing warm-​ups to make sure I would use my knee correctly during the session.
Jan is very passionate about what he does and it shows through his clients progress. He is not only an amazing personal trainer but he is a great person as well! He knows how to have fun relationships with his clients while keeping it professional at the same time!

Two years ago I started my journey with the best personal trainer in SF — Jan Milano. I can not speak more highly of this personal trainer. Honestly after spending at least 3 mornings a week with him for a solid year. I can make a more than valid assessment of him. He is one of the most positive young guys I know. I have lost close to 50 pounds — having him as a personal trainer. He makes working out fun! I never got injured working with him either. Going to the gym to train with him is something to look forward to and when you leave you feel EXHILARATED!

Jan trained me for my first marathon. I finished in excellent time with no injuries and a a much greater appreciation for my body. He won’t let you slack but he understands the demands of life outside the gym. I loved his energy in the gym and the fact that he cares about your long-​term and overall health, not just quick results. He can also change it up plenty — I learned some boxing, some olympic weightlifting, some sprinting, some endurance… he knows so many fun things to try out. You will not get bored.

I have been working with Jan Milano since mid June. It was after I had a back spasm, and was in physical therapy and seeing a doctor that I finally listened to them and friends of mine who encouraged me to get back to the gym. It finally registered with me that if I didn’t start taking care of my health and my body I was headed for bigger trouble down the road. I’m in my 50’s so breaking old habits are not easy to break. I was told by doctor and therapist that I needed to build up the strength in my core. I knew I could not do this alone.
I was introduced to Jan at the gym, and when I asked for a look at his resume and credentials before I agreed to train with him, upon review I could see that I struck it lucky if I could work with him. I began to have confidence after our first training session, and relieved that he could help me achieve and maybe even exceed my goals. Jan is a top-​of-​the-​line «elite» trainer. He is very knowledgable about every aspect of the body and he knows what is needed to get results. He also has a degree in Kinesiology. In about 6 weeks of seeing him twice a week, I no longer had the back pain issues.
I told Jan I also had a goal to take off some weight. I started with the idea of 10 – 15 lbs, but reality was that I needed to lose 25 – 30 pounds, and I could never do it on my own. I had years of bad eating habits and had developed a lot of intra-​dermal fat around the mid-​section (very hard to lose). I have tried Nutri-​system and other diet plans, but always came back to the same place I started from. Over the course of 3 months time, through taking Jan’s suggestions for my diet along with the exercise plan we had in place, Jan has seen me successfully lose 23 pounds.
So besides being my personal trainer, he is also very helpful with my nutrition. In working with Jan I have also become more stress-​free. I struggle with hypertension, high cholesterol and border-​line diabetes, so losing weight, eating a healthy diet, and regular exercise is crucial for my health and life-​expectancy. Working with Jan has been an incredible uplifting life experience for me. He is interested in all aspects of my health, and gently guides me where I need to be focused, but he has also taught me discipline when he works me hard during our workouts together. I have to say that my life and my health has improved greatly since knowing Jan and working with him.
