It saddens me to say that in the last month or two, Modern Thai’s food quality has declined considerably. Most notably, the egg rolls are like soggy cardboard now, with no crispness whatsoever. My D&D group now orders from Red Jade.

Terrible service. I ordered my food just to get a call back 50 minutes later to hear I need to come pick it up myself or wait an additional hour. Staff was rude over the phone and made it sound like it was my problem not theirs. Unless you think 2 hours delivery is acceptable I would steerclear of this place.

Food is good but not great. Tom yum with shrimp was mildly spicy and had a modern flavor to it. The shrimp was plentiful and well-cooked. The coconut shrimp appetizer was the highlight. Papaya salad is fresh and lacks enough spice. No real bite to it at all. The chicken pra rem had a fairly thick but tasty peanut sauce. Have previously had chicken cashew and I enjoyed that more. Chocolate tartufo for dessert was excellent with a nice balance of creamy and crunchy, and a hint of rich.

My new favorite Thai delivery place in SF! Ordered this for a work training on Sunday and I was so blown away, I had to order it for lunch today. Get the pumpkin curry. Do it now! Also loved Pad see ew, and crispy tofu with peanut sauce. Ordered at 3:05 and it was at my work by 3:35. Amazing! Fast, amazing, with vegan options! Yay!

This place was great! I stayed right up the street was looking for something local and delicious obviously. I had the Chicken Satay & Cashew Nut Chicken. So good that i went back the next day for dinner again. Good quality food, nice staff reasonable prices for Thai food in SF. All around good vibes, good food, good times!

Got the mango red curry, pad see ew, cream cheese wontons, and sticky rice. It was all pretty good. I thought it was a little weird that the sticky rice came in a small, super dense patty thing, but everything was tasty enough.

Food is good, but delivery and customer service is horrible. I just received my delivery order which was missing the BBQ pork in the Singaporean noodles(two orders). Called and they said they ran out. Wouldn’t they notify the customer a first? And how do you run out at the beginning of the day on a long holiday weekend? Seems like the worst management decision ever. They«say» that I will have 10% off my next order, but how is that possible with delivery apps? Probably never going to order from here again. Lers Ros is better anyway.

Came here 12-9-2015 Ordered pumpkin curry with tofu, steamed rice, and steamed veggies. Curry was very good, rice was a little skimpy imo, and veggies were ok. They also had a Unilocal dine in offer for thai iced tea but sadly cant get it togo. Everything cost around 20 a bit pricier then some of the other thai places I have been too. But lady who took my order was nice and polite. Overall I will definitely come back for the pumpkin curry!!!

Can here for a late night dinner after a movie at the Van Ness theater. Friendly, prompt service with a smile and the food was incredible. We started with the crispy basil tofu appetizer and my husband who doesn’t usually like tofu even loved it. The crab fried rice was delicious and they also offer free delivery. This is definitely our new go-to Thai place!

Food was very fresh and delicious. The wings specifically were great!!! Waiter was kind. The prices are reasonable great for lunch. It is casual so there is no need to dress up.

This place has constantly gone down a downward spiral. The«Green Curry Fried Rice» hardly looks green like it did eons ago! A sincere request to make the dish«Thai Spicy» does not seem to be understood– food has come to the table bland at best. Second, third and many more chances given — but this time«Never Again» will have to stick. Pity

This is my go-to spot for Thai food. I live near by and come here all the time. The service is always quick and the people are so friendly! Not to mention the food is delicious! I recommend the crab moon cheese to start then the red curry with chicken and brown rice. Yum!!!

Not a fan. I have only been in a few times but it seems like they just don’t care. I am in a service industry and can honestly say customer service is lacking big time. On lunch one time I was told they can’t serve me because I wasn’t ordering enough. Another time I swear it smelt like dog poop and I wasn’t the only one who noticed.

Literally the worst Thai food we’ve ever had. When we left the restaurant felt sick probably from MSG and gross tasting chicken and beef. Skip this place at all costs

the server was very nice however I cannot give this place more than a 2 star. I ordered tofu pad thai, the dish was sour and had too much sauce, it looked like sticky noodles. I asked them to make it with less sauce and it came back with even more sauce and no tofu so we got the other food to go and going to eat somewhere else.

I Live two blocks from this restaurant and I support them at least once or twice a week. They know my voice when I call to order and they know me by name so you would think they would take maybe a little extra care of someone who eats there frequently… I have dined in their quiet dining room on many occasions for lunch and dinner. On many nights I just call and walk over and pick up dinner to go. I love this place BUT Tonight I ordered one of my favorite dishes, cashew nut chicken, and it was INEDIBLE !!! It was as if I had ordered chicken jerky. THE chicken STRIPSWERESOOOOOODRY and SOOOOOVERDONETHAT you could have bounced them off the floor. The chef must’ve dropped 10 or 12 Thai Chili peppers into my chicken dish, because I took one bite and my whole face and neck started perspiring profusely and this is a dish I eat ALLTHETIME… I don’t know if the chef was ready to go home or was asleep at the wheel or he was maybe trying to sabotage the business, it could be any of those because the dish that he sent out tonight, he should be fired. I have been in the restaurant business for over 50 years as restaurant owner and as a working manager in the finest dining restaurants. Believe me, I know and appreciate well prepared foods. Somebody dropped the ball tonight, BIGTIME. To screw up a dish is one thing but then to send it out to a regular customer and expect them to eat it borders on insanity.

i have been a patron of modern thai for several years but will never eat there again. they have started to play bait and switch with their prices. my friend and i have been there 5 times in the last month. the last 2 times they charged a different price than the one stated on the menu. when we complained they said we had accidentally been GIVEN a menu that was still showing the old prices. once could have been a mistake but twice is deliberate .the very rude waitress refused to adjust the price then refused to talk to us any longer. i will not have anything to do with any business that is not totally honest with their customers

I am a thai food friends. First time to come this restaurant. I order Pad Thai noodle, taste is different than other thai testaurants that i had before, noodle is sweet and tasty, it blends well with the other ingredients spices. Except it is a bit greasy, otherwise is perfect. Will come again to try other dishes.

The food is really great here. If you read my other posts, I hardly go to the same place twice in the city… some.much.good.food.to.be.had! #SFfoodlove With that being said, I love to get their fresh(not fried) spring rolls to start of my meal. Their Thai Ice tea, is excellent, just the right amount of creamy, cold delish. Off to their main dishes! All their noodle dishes are hard to beat. My favorites? Any of the flat rice noodle dishes, lol. I also recommend any of their curry dishes… my fav is their green curry, it is certainly hard to beat, I get it with seafood. It looks and taste pretty amazing. The right bit of everything! Their services is pretty good too. Sometimes they get pretty busy, because the place is quiet popular for the area, but they are always visibly around, so you can quickly flag them down and they will accommodate you the best they can. Keep in mind their English is not the best, so be patient and talk slow, and you will get the due diligent service you need:) They have a semi outdoor area in front that fits a big group, and is lighted very nicely for the nighttime dining. I would recommend that if you want to host a group of people, say for birthday or something. It’s Michelin recommend, and it lives up to it’s name. Nom, nom, nom to this Thai place people! You won’t be disappointed!

This was a completely«meh» experience. There are 10 Thai places within a few blocks, so I thought the competition would force everyone to up their game. Unfortunately, Modern Thai fell completely short in the flavor department. We had the Tom Yum and Pad Se Eww, two staples that all Thai restaurants should be able to pull off flawlessly. Both dishes were fairly large portions and perfect for sharing. The first spoon of Tom Yum was quite nice; slightly spicy tart soup with well cooked vegetables. As we got further into the bowl, there was a gritty sediment(possibly the spices?) that made it very unpleasant. The Pad Se Eww was weak in flavor and the noodles were all clumped together and over chewy. Not fun. On a positive note, service was quite good(granted there were only three tables of diners).
