$ 7 for a Vegetarian Banh Mi, it’s not super cheap but it tastes good.

Slightly below average bahn mi for above average price. Tried a «phở sandwhich» which apparently means it has cold slices of meat. Half way pickled pickled carrots, lettuce, too much sauce on inauthentic, but decent bread. Total price $ 7.50($ 7 plus a 50 cent surcharge because who carries around cash anymore)

The sandwiches are edible but they aren’t very good and they DEFINITELY aren’t authentic. I came here today hoping for a pork bánh mì with pâté and, instead, got some kind of bland lump of food. The bread is totally wrong. It’s soft and squishy — it doesn’t have the appropriate crunch of bánh mì French bread. They even toasted it, too. It’s just the wrong bread. More Quizno’s-like. Also, there wasn’t any pâté despite being told there would be some. There was sliced roast pork and some type of mayo, but that was about it. They also neglect to use daikon or any appreciable amount of jalapeño. This is just a really plain pork sandwich, and for $ 6.25, it needs to be a LOT better. P. S. There’s a $ 0.50 charge for credit card transactions under $ 10.00. They use Square, so they’re basically making a ~$ 0.25 profit off of this fee(Square’s fee is 2.75%).

Great place to stop by to grab lunch and it’s quick. Not sure about the generic sandwiches, but the Banh Mi style sandwiches are great. Just to let you know, it’s a super tiny place so you can’t eat lunch there and there is a charge for credit cards under $ 10, but it’s worth checking out.

Don’t let the odd name or the picture of the dog on the logo deceive you, it’s a true coffee/breakfast/Vietnamese sandwich spot in the heart of Soma/Fidi. For $ 6(good price in this area) you get a tasty ‘phở’ style banh mi sandwich which comes w/roast beef, hoison sauce, cilantro and everything but phở broth(with they had this as a dipping side, like au jus sauce). I’ll come back. The owners are really nice and friendly too.

Banh mi’s here are $ 6 — up, and is made with a section of baguette, not like what you see in the pics here. Not a bad deal if you’re nearby and need something quick and tastes almost like a banh mi. The sandwich is not loaded with much, you can tell by the heft as soon as they hand it to you, that something is slightly off. If time were not an issue, I’d buy a $ 2.25 underground muni tix to Larkin St, get a really good banh mi for $ 3.75, and return to FiDi all for $ 6. But time usually is an issue, so I might come back.

I always walked by this place in a hurry in the mornings. One day I decided to try them out. I had a Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a croissant. It was good and made to order. It took a while and was a little cramped in there but nothing to complain about. 50c extra charge on CC purchases less than $ 10. I’ll come back and try the Vietnamese coffee and sandwiches.

Yumm! The sandwiches here are really good & can definitely satisfy your banh mi craving. Not to mention, the service is pretty fast & the food is cheap! I recommend this place when you need a quick & tasty meal :)

PROS: — Cheap banh mi at $ 5.50 a pop, chicken or pork, with pâté — Good baguette, toasted outside and soft inside — Quick, friendly service — Good-sized spring rolls, shrimp or avocado, $ 2.00 — Now accepts credit card CONS: — Not much meat, at least in their pork banh mi — They skimp on jalapeño slices, and charge for extra(and then still only give you a few thin slices). Need more of that spicy crunch!

Here is the deal. This place offers Pork Banh Mi for $ 5.50. It takes about twenty seconds for them to make, and about double that for you to eat. I don’t know why anyone is leaving this place less than four stars, this place is about $ 2 cheaper than anything you can get anywhere in the FiDi, its super fast and more than convenient. Could there have been more meat in my sandwich? Maybe, but who cares. I’m going here cause I don’t want to spend money/starve to death. If it really bothers you, buy two sandwiches, transfer the meat from one sandwich to the other, and still save some money. When you out compete the little food cards in Union Square, you get some props.

SUCH a random name for a banh mi place. Decent sandwiches and cheap for SF standards($ 6 a sammie) but smaller in size than a usual sandwich IMO. I had the pork + chicken combo sandwich – dark meat which I’m not the biggest fan of but, that’s usually the type of meat in banh mi sandwiches so I’m not too surprised. My favorite part is the bread – super soft bread. Not a really generous portion of meat but, it’s okay. I wish they had more options for sandwiches though. They seem to detour from the normal banh mi shops with«fusion» flavors and a phở sandwich. I’m not a fan of asian fusion though so it didn’t really strike my fancy.

This is my go to place when I’m short on time and need something super simple on a weekday. I order pretty much the same thing a — banh mi chicken and a fresh rolls of some sort. The lady who runs the place definitely cares about the food she makes. She’s come up with a Phở sandwich for those who crave a phở but dont want to deal with a sit down experience. I haven’t tasted it but love the thought she’s putting into her business. The chicken sandwich is phenomenal. I always request the extra spicy version which means a ton of freshly sliced jalapenos — which is the kind of spicy that keeps me motivated through a meal. The only down side to this place is that they are cash only(when under $ 10). But that’s such a small inconvenience in the grand scheme of things.

Awesome hidden place near work. Lots of different Banh mi sammies and spring roles. For the price and convenience, definitely the best banh mi sandwich within 4 block radius of SOMA. Very kind staff too. Will try again shortly!

Delicious! If you’re looking for a fast, fresh sandwich place in SOMA, Muffins Muffins is fantastic. The lunch wait isn’t long, the staff are great, and there are plenty of items to choose from(sandwiches, fruit salad, baked goods, drinks, snacks, etc). I’ve had the BBQ chicken vietnamese sandwich(perhaps the most delicious bahn mi I’ve had, but a bit heavy on the pâté) and the Phở sandwich(a savory twist on a roast beef sandwich with a kick). All of the vegetables were crisp, the sauces in moderation and the bread toasted(a bit over-toasted, sometimes to the point of crunchiness). They do have a charge for credit card purchases under $ 10, so bring cash if possible or load up on additional items.

Not a fan. The only good things about Muffins Muffins are Diane, the pâté, and the bread. Sadly, these things are not enough to bring me back that way again, at least for the bahn mi. Just got a «BBQ» Pork bahn mi, very dissappointing. The pork wasn’t even BBQ’d or charred, it may have been baked and not seasoned. The bread was fine, not as soggy this time, it was toasted and smeared with pâté. I asked for my sandwich to have extra jalepenos, and I heard Diane tell the woman making the sandwich to add extra peppers, maybe she thought I couldn’t handle the heat because there were literally four tiny slivers of jalepeno on the entire thing. And other than pickled daikon and carrots, no other veggies! Is this supposed to be more authentic? Because I am not into it if so. I don’t ask for much in this life. But what I do want is for my bahn mi to have flavorful, BBQ’d meat, mayo or pâté, cilantro, carrots, cucumber, and lots and lots of jalpenos. Listen, I know jalepeno peppers are cheap, I buy them regularly. Asking for extra is not a big deal, even if I’m charged extra, I don’t care, I need to have that crunchy, spicy factor, it is a human need. There was also an oniony flavor as I got closer to the inside of the sandwich. To top it all off, my friend and I both asked for Sriracha on the side, and were presented with a laughably small amount. I didn’t say anything because my friend is very sensitive and he just got done raving about Muffins Muffins and how he likes them so much better than French Viatnamese in the Underground that I took him to a couple times. It was $ 5.25 for my sandwich, which is comparable to French Viatnamese, but not nearly as good.

If you’re looking for something fast and inexpensive in SOMA, check this place out. My faves are the chicken and pork banh mi sandwiches. They put enough meat to go with your veggies and jalapeño’s. The bread is always got a good crunch to it, without being too hard. I’ve also enjoyed their turkey sandwiches and if you like a smaller salad, they typically have those on display in the front. It’s a quaint little place, but service is really good. Just make sure you have cash.

Delicious, fast, cheap! Pork banh mi. I’m not sure what else I can say about this place haha, those six words basically sum it up. They ask if you want«spicy» — this just means with jalapenos, which you should definitely get. Not super spicy though so it doesn’t hurt to add your own sriracha if you have some handy. The pork is always juicy and well seasoned. The bread _usually_has that perfect crisp and crunchy without being tough though I’ve had at least one where the bread was a little too hard for my tastes(it’s a difficult balance). This is a _tiny_shop that sells a few drinks, some fruit, possibly muffins in the morning, but really you should come here for the delicious, fast, and cheap banh mis!

I go to Muffins Muffins for breakfast items and coffee only. Their Vietnamese iced coffee kicks my ass and face; it’s delicious. My guilty pleasure is their ham and cheese croissant, which is heavenly both hot and cold. Their service is always pleasant and very quick. I did try their spring rolls and have to agree with Vy H. that they’re not great. It has way too much lettuce and the shrimp is sliced up so it’s thinner. Also tried their bbq pork banh mi and was not impressed with the unusual flavors but did appreciate the amount of jalapenos they put into it.(I enjoy painfully spicy foods). As long as I stick to breakfast items and coffee, this place is convenient, consistent and clutch.

Highlights: — I like that it’s close by to my office. — Quick grab and go for spring rolls. — Cheap, but I’d choose quality over quantity/price. Improvements: — Lines out the door during lunch time. — Spring rolls = skip. A ton of lettuce and pickled carrots. Skimpy on the noodles and shrimp. Loosely wrapped and all over the place. Tip: Cash only!

Should this place even be called Muffins Muffins? It should be Muffins Muf. Why? Because it’s so tiny in here like it was built as a walk-in closet for a midget hunchback. If more than two customers squeeze in here, I believe that would be like stuffing college students in a phone booth… or they’d have to get married because they have no choice but be intimate in there. It’s small. Get the picture? OK, here’s the other thing. Sure, they have muffins, but they also have Vietnamese banh mis. So why don’t they call it Banh Mis Banh Mis, or better yet, Muffins Muffins Banh Mis Banh Mis. Oh, that’s right, there isn’t enough room on the green awning because did I mention… The place can only fit two of the seven dwarfs. I have to admit something. I’ve never had a muffin from Muffins Muffins. But I have had Egg, Ham and Cheese on an English Muffin for $ 3.95(see photo). Oh wait, does an English muffin count? It works, and frankly I like it better than any bagel sandwich I’ve had at Katz’s across the street. However, the best thing I’ve ordered here is the $ 5.50 Combination BBQ Chicken and BBQ Pork Banh Mi(see photo). While not at the level of Saigon Sandwiches, it’s satisfying enough for a quick lunch. They’re pre-made somewhere since it comes mummified in a lot of saran wrap. So is the $ 2 Spring Roll, which is a bit sloppily made with full lettuce leaves used to add some more crunch(see photo). The peanut sauce is unmemorable. Did I mention it’s small in here? FOOD — 3 stars… baked goods and Vietnamese fare… what a combo to serve in a closet AMBIANCE — 2.5 stars… getting claustrophobic… can’t breathe SERVICE — 4 stars… two nice ladies serve in here… how do they not kill each other after working an eight-hour shift? TOTAL — 3 stars… seriously, did I mention it’s small in here?
