I’ve had five-star meals here. And I’ve had meals where I swore to myself. But, somehow, I always did… Not anymore. There’s no point. The location is inconvenient(there isn’t single Indian restaurant in SF that’s worth driving over a bridge for), the prices have been steadily increasing for years now, and despite more than a decade’s worth of patronage, they don’t hook up shit. When I was first eating here, this would’ve been a non-issue, because the proportions would’ve outweighed the prices. Now, this is smack-in-middle quality. But when I was starting out with different cuisines, Naan N Curry was essential. Like, «wow, foreign food tastes good!» Does that sound ignorant? Tough shit, people figure out in different ways.

They have rice pudding! A lassi under drinks! And multiple selection of flavor naans! Not grass fed. But there is a vegetarian section.

Maybe there’s a worse restaurant in San Francisco. Maybe. Anyway, it’s more of a jailhouse cafeteria than a restaurant. Food: awful. Décor: what décor? Service: somewhere between can’t-be-bothered and surly. If you have any self-respect, never set foot in this dump.

The business has been running for the 17th year, the owner said when we had a lunch there 2 days ago. The Naans are always my favorite, the lamb dishes are always well prepared to my taste. Like it to be around at the nice neighborhood where I used to live some 20 years ago!

Barely edible. Keep away. Stay home. Eat ramen noodles. Heat up a frozen dinner. Anything but this. There’s nothing more to say.

Service: Ordered here late night. Was extremely pissed off when i get a call from a taxi driver and he asks me to bring money down to pay for the delivery of my food. First of all, I already paid the restaurant the delivery fee. Second, I should not have to go downstairs to pick up my delivery. Not the cab drivers fault, so i pay him and apologize for yelling at him to bring it up and that i’ve paid already(thinking he was the delivery guy). They should have at least called to tell me my food would be delivered via taxi and i would have to go out and get it. Food: I ordered the lamb vindaloo, naan, and the prawn briyani. Just about every piece of lamb in the vindaloo had a major bone it in, who likes to pick out bones from a creamy sauce? The prawns had their tails on and were cooked into the rice… again, who like to pick stuff out of their food? lastly, the naan, half of it was so overdone it basically flaked away into nothing.

I love this little Indian place. The chicken tikka masala is amazingly fabulous. I really like the Naan too. It’s not a fancy place but it is by far one of my favorite Indian places in SF. If you are craving a little tikka come on by

I called in for take out and ordered naan and chicken tikka masala. I only ended up here because of a late night snack. The man who picked up the phone did not understand what I was trying to say which was very off putting. I repeated myself multiple times and stopped trying to ask clarification questions. The chicken in the chicken tikka masala was dry, like most other reviews say. The naan was basic and dry too — tastes prepackaged. I guess if you want late night Indian this would be the place to go to satisfy your cravings. But don’t expect quality or even close to it. Sorry

Warning: Health code violation I ordered Lamb Curry, a naan, and rice, but the waiter brought out Lamb Tikka Malasa and two naan. I thought they just messed up my order so after waiting a second I just started eating because I was in a hurry and didn’t want to make a fuss. A few minutes later the waiter came out with my order. When he realized he made a mistake, he picked up the tikka masala and extra naan, took them back to the order counter, and as I watched from across the room he spruced them up a bit and then delivered them in an order to a family that must have ordered it. To be clear, my fingers had already touched the tikka masala and he redelivered it to someone else.

It was a good Saturday lunch. We with my friend took 2 combos(we were very hungry). One combo is 12 $.there were chicken Tikka masala, 1 veggie side, Naan and was a large portion. Veggies were very spicy, but chicken was delicious. Why 4? Interior is not good. like fast food

I’ve been to quite a few Indian restaurants in my dining days, including Naan N’ Curry in Berkley. I must say that this establishment provided some of the most disappointing food and service. We ordered rice, naan, chicken tikka masala, saag, samosas, and tandoori chicken. The sauce dishes were flavourless, the chicken was dry, and I found the food to be generally of subpar quality. Verdict: I would not return and advise against dining here.

Damn this joint has 1000+ reviews. I came multiple times in order to try it out. You often here people tell you«listen, you’ve got to go to the Indian restaurants where Indian people go. You know it’s good if they go there.» During my vacation, I ordered the following: yellow daal aloo gobhi chana masala Aloo gobhi is the key thing to order. Aloo gobhi separates the simps from the goats, the bustas from the Goliaths. The aloo gobhi here is excellent! I ask if they have jalebis. They don’t. If you want to make any Indian person laugh, tell them that you love jalebis. You will earn their respect. I kind of wish this place offered dosas. And the lunch special is dirt cheap for SF! This place is authentic, sort of like those mom-and-pop Indian restaurants in Edison, NJ(Shalimar Grill comes to mind)

There was an excessive amount of bones in my dish — one of the chicken bones was smashed into small splinters and in my opinion was a hazard! See picture

SERVICE: Not bad. The man at the register was very polite and open to explaining the different items on the menu including the specials of the day. One thing I take notice to and appreciate is a host/waiter who takes a moment to help you explore the options and offer honest suggestions. You get in, grab a seat, get a cup of chai in the back by the restrooms, and wait for your meal! FOOD: Tasty! The last time we came we ordered Cholay Gosht(Garbanzo beans and lamb), Achar Chicken(Tomato-based sauce with spices) and a spinach and potato dish. Each dish was delicious and unique. The boldest flavors came from the Achar Chicken. The spinach dish was subtle which added a nice balance to the other 2 meat dishes. The reason why this place gets 4 stars is because the naan is lackluster. The garlic naan is tough. And the cheesy naan, well… there was actually naan wrong with that one. ;) ATMOSPHERE: Nothing spectacular. This place opens late(until 1 or 2am?) so it aims to please the stomach, not so much the eyes. Regardless, the place is still clean but a little cold at night. OVERALL: I dig it. There’s something very comforting about creamy Indian curry on warm naan at 10−11pm that warms the soul. If I feel like mixing it up, I’ll check out Crepevine next door too!

This is a dive… and for me… nothing wrong with that. Often the best meals I’ve ever had came from divey looking places. All I can say is I loved the Chicken Tikka and the Lamb Curry. The Rice pilaf was decent, albeit average… but the Naan bread was probably the best tasting and«fluffiest» Naan I’ve ever had. It really made the meal! Anyway…the place is a bit run down… and it did get a rather low score from the Health Department… but again… I enjoyed what I had there… and my daughter and I didn’t get sick… so bonus there! Plus the prices are decent… so getting a full tummy without emptying my wallet was good too!

The place is pretty average in terms of the food and atmosphere here. While it’s not bad, it’s not the best I’ve had in the city. I had the chicken tikka masala with a side of naan. I was a bit disappointed with the bread; the bread was a bit too oily when served and not as steamy hot as I was expecting it to be. Rather it was lukewarm at best and a bit dense. I prefer my naan to be a bit fluffier and light. The chicken tikka itself was recently flavored though not as «strongly spiced» as I’ve had at other places. It was perhaps borderline bland as far as Indian food goes but by no means flavorless. The best word to describe this place is average. Solid food at your convenience. A strong point is that this place is open late, so if you need some Indian after a long night, hit this place up :)

So they don’t value their food at all and really focus on volume of customers I think/hope… My biryani is full of really inedible bits(pieces of chicken bone/spine/chunks most people don’t cook, whole peppercorns and cardamom pods, uncut stems)…literally taking up ¼ of the rice container. Bottom of the box is greasy. Save your money for some fried rice from a Chinese food take out spot.

Place is not fancy, you pay in front and get a number. I got chicken vindaloo and chicken tikka masala. I love the rice! Overall, it’s so-so, I’ve had better curry. Curry is less than $ 10 and rice is $ 2. You serve urself the utensils, water, and chai tea.

Oh man, naan and curry, what happened to you? This place used to be one of the best Indian places growing up and I used to come here all the time. When I moved out of SF, Naan and curry used to be the standard I would compare Indian food to. I went back here a few days ago and it really has changed. I had my usual, the chicken tiki masala and palak paneer. The food seemed bland. Before I remember it being full of spice and delicious; now it was just whatever. The naan seemed fresh but also very plain compared to what I remember. It was also less crispy. It seems like people have noticed the change too. There were a lot less people there than I remember. Also, it seems like they closed on the second room… Probably because they have been having less customers. I would still go here if I was in the area but I wouldn’t really recommend it anymore…

Good place for mid-week dinner with a bunch of friends over budget-friendly Indian food. They quickly pushed together a few tables for our group of eight and brought over menus and pitchers of cold water. After perusing the menu, we went over to the register to place our orders and pay. We sipped on the requisite Indian milk tea, although the tea dispenser ran dry near the start of our meal and wasn’t replenished until we were pretty much ready to go. I would have liked more than one cup of that yummy milky tea, but I didn’t really need the extra caffeine. They were playing Indian music and displaying scenic photos on TV. I heard this place looks better now than it used to in the past. Used to be dirty and run down? Seemed pretty clean to me. Even the restroom was clean. The bf and I split: Chicken Tikka Masala — the sauce was pretty awesome with the crispy garlic naan, but every piece of chicken, even the large ones, were dry and overcooked. Chicken Seekh Kebab — coriander-spiced ground chicken hand-molded onto a skewer and grilled to perfection. It didn’t look that appetizing to me, but it was tender, moist and flavorful. Two orders of garlic naan — garlicky and crispy. Thickness similar to thin crust pizza. Yum. We were seated quickly. The food came out relatively fast, considering there we were a large group. Plenty of food for two for around $ 25. Okay-tasting and affordable Indian food!
