Because of a new renal issue, my youngest daughter twisted my arm to see a nutritionist and she suggest Nancy Bennett of Enlightening Choices. Since I didn’t buy into traditional medical specialist only treating my condition with drugs, I looked at acupuncture and Nancy for an alternative lifestyle change. What I love about Nancy is that she was never gave me the doom & bloom talk and never pressure me into any changes. She chatted with me on each visit and suggested very simple diet changes and light exercises. She asked me to start testing my blood sugar and blood pressure so I can get an idea what my body is doing. The simplest change I made was limit the red meat that I eat(do need to do immediately) by weaning myself slowly to smaller portion. Substitute red meat with other meats overtime. Also, limit fast carbs and never eat fast carbs without eating slower natural carbs like vegetables, beans and nuts. So, I’ve learn to never eat fast carbs without a slow carb and my blood sugar dropped to a level where soon I will be completely off medication. Because I’m eating 5 meals of day instead of 2, my blood sugar doesn’t spike anymore and I’m not hungry. So to date, I’ve loss 15 lbs without really trying… just simple change in what I eat and how I eat it… of course, with light exercising. Nancy, you certainly have my endorsement.
