Love San Tung wings but not the wait? Next Door Sweets is awesome! There was a huge line at San Tung so my group quickly hopped next door and were surprised that Next Door was so empty. The menu was exactly the same and we ordered the standby favorites: Dry fried wings, string beans, and something with beef. The service was fast and the food was exactly the same. Although we didn’t get to try any of the sweeter offerings, they looked good and we saw a lot of people stopping by for some gelato and boba. The really confusing thing was why so many people were waiting outside of San Tung in front of a sign that literally said Next Door served the entire San Tung menu. It’s definitely not the same atmosphere, Next Door’s is more modern fro-yo or boba café, but who cares when you’re getting the same delicious wings.

It took me 3 tries and a ridiculously long wait to finally savor the dry fried chicken wings from San Tung. My sister, a former NorCal resident, told me the chef’s son owns a restaurant called So which has some of San Tung’s staples. Someone told me there’s a place next door to San Tung which serves it’s menu but I looked around and couldn’t find it. Well, that was because I wasn’t looking for an ice cream/frozen yogurt/boba shop! There was only one table ahead of my table of four. We ordered green beans, dumplings, fried rice, sizzling rice, and 2 orders of the dry fried chicken. We had to ask for tea(tasted watery) and kim chee(seriously spicy!). The food comes out extremely HOT as in temperature hot. I kept warning the guys of this but it’s hard to resist a dry fried chicken wing! I can’t comment on the sweets but the savory is spot on. It’s a casual space with only a few tables but the food is spot on. The service is nothing fancy(the waitresses are also the ones scooping ice cream and making boba drinks) but the time saved for dry fried chicken in my opinion is worth the 4 stars!

Do you ever find yourself waiting in line outside of San Tung? Of course you do, they have damn good chicken, and you want it! Well, do you remember the sign-post next door from Next Door Sweets claiming that they have San Tung’s full menu? We didn’t know whether it would taste just as magical as the tried & true dry-fried chicken of San Tung… but it’s TRUE! We had already been waiting outside San Tung’s for over half an hour before we decided to take the leap of faith and eat here instead. Same prices. Same magic. Skip the wait! And at the same time, treat yourself to some of their gelato or froyo for dessert afterwards!

You can order San Tung’s full menu here!!! My friend and I originally went to San Tung and there was a bunch of parties on the list before us, but we noticed that there was no wait at Next Door Sweets and went over. There are a 3 tables at Next Door that can seat 4 – 6 people(and can break them up to seat 2), there’s also a lounge sofa and seats, and bar seating facing the window. We opted for one of the tables. We ordered: WINGS — I am a sucker for wings and I loved these! They are amazingly crunchy/crispy despite the glaze. How do they do it?! The sauce is a bit sweet, but I still really enjoyed this dish. THREEDELUXESPICYSAUCENOODLES — Not as spicy as I would have liked, but still good. I loved the housemade noodles and the prawns. I was stuffed after eating the wings and the noodles, but couldn’t help myself when I saw all the gelato they had! We tried a few: BLUEBOTTLECOFFEE– Yum! Great for all you BB fans! WHISKEY — You can definitely taste the whiskey — very sweet. BURNTCARAMEL — I opted for this flavor and the Earl Grey. This is one of those flavors that people either hate or love. It tasted as it should! Bittersweet. :P EARLGREY — Very tasty and had a strong earl grey flavor. Service was great. Food came out promptly. Portions are good and the price point is better than good = Very happy customers! Quick Tip: The receipt doesn’t have a space for gratuity so have some cash on hand if you want to leave a tip. :)

This is not your ordinary boba place — the food is fueled by the infamous San Tung chefs. It’s Friday, late at night, and you know I have the munchies. Walking into Next Door Sweets, I see space, lots of desserts, and a TV. And what’s that, they serve those delicious wings from next door? I’m sold. I heard the boba was okay, but the food was bomb, especially without a long wait time

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! Amazing place with amazing wings! If heaven were poultry doused in a sweet spicy sauce and almost the entire wing edible, this would be the place to get it. Situated in the heart of the Inner Sunset, this place fills up quick. Thanks to the super knowledge of my Chica and her Chico, we got in with a minimal wait shortly before pandemonium walked in. You see there is a restaurant next door called Sam Tung and it’s always packed because they are the original purveyors of this clucking delicious delicacy! When they’re packed and NDS is not, YOUWIN! We had other morsels to keep our mouths occupied like pork dumplings, sauteed green beans, black bean noodles and won ton soup. I was stuffed after a majority of the wings and a few helpings of the others. But hands down I will be back for those cracked out wings!

Through association to San Tung’s, I suppose I have to give this place 5stars as well since I fkn love that dry fried chicken. Besides that though, this place has shockingly good boba milk tea for a price cheaper than like a TeaStation(socal reference). It also has gelato and yogurt + toppings options available, but I didn’t get to try those.
