Truly beautiful and original designs, saw them at Jazz fest this weekend could not decide which of the many ones to choose from! So glad they have slim fitting options for petite people like me.

I absolutely LOVE their clothing and am constantly complemented on it… I even have my mom wearing it now. The images are strong and beautiful, and represent so many amazing artists. It’s an exciting experience every time I check out their new styles after hunting them out at San Francisco’s street fairs… I am totally addicted to Nopal!

I’ve known the mind behind nopal for a few years and I’m so glad they’re doing well! I mean, we’re talking 1) beautiful designs 2) quality clothing and 3) it’s supporting locals. How can you not want to buy a shirt?!

I have fallen in love with this clothing line. I stumbled upon a Nopal stall at Carnaval this weekend and cannot stop wearing their incredible designs. Nopal means cactus in Spanish and the name captures the essence of the powerful figures which Nopal portrays in their clothing; ‘greats’ who overcame hardships and obstacles and were able to produce beautiful ‘flowers’ of inspiration in the process. Nopal uses iconic images of influential artists from all eras and aspects of the arts — forerunners and movers of their time — like Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Cuban revolutionary Jose Mart, Ella Fitzgerald and many more for each of their peices. The main designer has a strong grafitti background, which is reflected in each work. Their poignant images are screen-printed on great, quality wear: sweaters and shirts that you don’t want to ever take off; that you secretly wear days in a row: out to party, then to bed, and then sport the whole next day. Some of the stores on Haight Street are beginning to carry their line — and you can also purchase stuff off their website. I highly recommend supporting these local artists!
