If we’d only eaten here once, Oolong Noodles would have received Five Stars. The first night we ate here, the food was amazing. My wife ordered Mapo Tofu Tossed Noodle Soup and I ordered Slow Cook Pork Belly Noodle Soup. Despite being served the incorrect dish, my wife enjoyed her Mushroom Tofu Noodle Soup that she received instead(When we pointed out the mistake, our waitress said, «Oh, this one is good too!»). However, my meal was one of the best soups we’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. The menu listed the Slow Cook Pork Belly Noodle Soup as a 1 out of 3 for spiciness. It was perfectly seasoned with nice heat and full flavor. All of the ingredients were fresh and crisp. The noodles were made fresh in-house and you could taste the effort that went into their creation. My wife gobbled up all of my egg and I had to fight her for the Pork Belly. The Pork belly melted in your mouth. I can’t express how much we enjoyed the dish. My wife kept dipping her spoon in my bowl, because she wanted just«another little taste.» We ordered Sushi with the meal too; it was good, but paled in comparison to the soup. Despite all of the other choices for restaurants to try in the area, my wife insisted that we return to Oolong Noodles, because she’d dreamed about ordering the Slow Cook Pork Belly Noodle Soup again. She urged that I had to order something else, because both of us getting the same dish would be «silly.» I relented and ordered the BBQ Eel Noodle Soup and figured I’d get to eat as much my wife’s Pork Belly Soup as she’d «tasted» the day before. When our orders arrived, I was really disappointed in the BBQ Eel Noodle Soup. The broth itself was very bland with little flavor. The Eel wasn’t able to stand up to the broth and it had a mushy consistency with a watered-down taste. Even worse, the Slow Cook Pork Belly Noodle Soup my wife was served seemed to have been cooked by a different chef. It was missing the egg, the fish ball, half the veggies, and all of the spiciness. The nice, full flavor heat from the day before went from a 1 out of 3 to a –10. Both soups were dull and uninspiring when compared to the soup we’d received less than 24 hours before. Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed. Our second experience was so poor that we agreed the meal deserved only a Two Star rating. Overall, our experiences at Oolong Noodles Restaurant were night and day. The first visit was amazing and deserved Five Stars. The Second visit was depressing and earned only Two Stars. We figured we’d average the two scores and round down(our second experience was that bad). We really hope that the owners can figure out what happened in that short amount of time and fix it before others have a similarly poor meal.

Extremely poor service. Badgered me for my order and when I decided not to order because there’s nothing special about their noodle, they charged me 4 bucks for the tea I didn’t drink.

Awww come on!!! $ 25 bucks for a stack upon stack upon stack of udon noodles?! I ordered the wonton BBQ pork soup. Came with 3 small won tons 6 – 8 tiny slices of pork and BOOM hella noodles… after bitea I was left with what’s shown in the picture below. I also ordered the spicy minced pork soup. Same thing. 1⁄8 an inch of minced mixture and 4 inches of BOOM once again noodles. Ratios way off… I want to give 2 stars but the delivery came on time, soup was still hot even though I lived far, and flavors were better than most delivery places but Damnnnn they skimp on the goods.

Noodle house where they make noodles in the front, you can watch through the front window. The udon noodles are fresh and have amazing texture, and tasty broth. Nice people, quick service, convenient for lunch time as it isn’t too busy. They have a pretty extensive sushi menu but I didn’t order any. Seaweed salad was good.

This is a noodle and sushi bar right next to the hilton financial hotel at the edge of chinatown and the financial district. The sushi selection is extensive and well liked it seems but I can’t tell you too much about it because when you live with a vegetarian you don’t eat a lot of sushi. It’s kinda a rule. As most of the other reviews have noted they make fresh noodles in house. There’s even an observation window so you can watch, and annoy them with photo’s. It’s pretty awesome that they do that, and it goes without saying that anything that has noodles in it here is pretty tasty. As in «I wish my mouth was bigger so i can fit more in» tasty. In addition to the many near perfect noodle dishes, they do a mean chinese(not phở) range of soups, with or without noodles, and you can have rice dishes as well, although going to a restaurant with noodle in the name, that also makes fresh noodles periodically throughout the day and then ordering rice means you are clinically insane. Also the waiter will scowl at you. Or so I’ve heard. The appetizers are epic and they have made a small specialty out of unhealthy things like chicken katsu. The bar is limited in beer and wine choices, but not unexpectedly, there is a deep selection of saki. Pricing is fair for the area, but one meal will run you around 20 ish dollars. There is a parking garage pretty much across the street, which could be handy.

The perks of going to this place? Fresh noodles. You can see and watch them make it at the front window when you enter. It’s chewy enough, but not so chewy that you get tired of eating. They give just the right amount too. Other than that, it was a very bland experience. The soup was so bland, I questioned if I lost my taste buds. Until I took a bite of the grilled pork I ordered, Oh! So there is flavor to this. Too bad the meat was way overcooked. At least for the ones that are in my bowl is. The half egg I got was cooked perfect. The pickled stuff add no help to the whole thing. There was a lot of bean sprouts. Oh yes there was also tofu and corn. Everything in this paragraph was all blah(except for the egg and maybe the corn, it was sweet). I want to give it another shot. If and when I do go back, I am going to try something Chinese instead of Japanese and maybe without soup. They seem to make fresh noodles for the Chinese dishes as well. I saw on the menu that they also serve sushi. I’m skeptical about those items. Overall, service took awhile even though I ordered it to go. The one item I tried was not that good. I make better soup than that. The price is kind of high for such a small bowl. 2.75 stars.

Timely delivery, food taste and quality was very good — chicken fish and sushi dishes. Fried veggies were excellent! They threw in an additional dish I didn’t order(mistake?) — that’s always good. Would order again.

I am not a big fan of Japanese food(unlike most of the people maybe?) but the volcano roll is awesome and a must-try! Besides, finding a noodle place where you can see them making the noodles right in front you is the ultimate winner. The price for most of the soup noodles, most of them really delicious, is around 10.95 during lunch time. They charge extra $ 1 – 2 for hot tea, whereas most of the places in Chinatown don’t charge for hot tea. For me, this was one of the fatal flaws! The best thing? They deliver door to door so if you’re feeling so lazy going out, hit up this restaurant!

This place is pretty good and walking distance from the Financial District. You can see the guy working on the noodles through the window. The ramen(Grilled Pork Noodle Soup) was tasty($ 10). The noodles were a bit on the thick side but it worked well with the overall product. The broth was not heavy. The main take away is the noodles that is handmade at the restaurant. The sushi(Philly roll at $ 6 for 6 pieces), I wouldn’t order this again. The rice tasted old like it’s been sitting out and it kind of killed it. Not worth it.

If it is a busy night, do not try to dine here unless you have a strong taste for adventure, affinity for the unknown, and a LOT of time to spare. Seriously though, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a while. I understand they were incredibly busy because of the Chinese New Year Parade going on a few blocks away, but there were a comical amount of things that went wrong during my dinner here: 1. They have about 300 items on the menu here. It’s hard to believe they have ingredients for all 300 items on hand. 2. The first dish came out for my group about 10 minutes after ordering, but the last dish came out in about 40 minutes after the first dish came out. I think they just simply forgot to make some dishes because when we flagged down our waitress, she kept asking, «So… what did you order?» and look around nervously. Aw. 3. When our food finally did come, it was either cold, or just the wrong order. My friend’s beef chow mein was some kind of beef and pork stir fry with udon noodles that I *guess* could pass for beef chow mein. In fact, everybody’s order had something incorrect about it(missing an ingredient, or completely wrong order). Refer back to comment #1 on the restaurant’s 300-item menu, and my previous advice to have a sense of adventure. 4. When it came time to pay, we put down five credit cards to divide the bill evenly. The waitress then told us they couldn’t do that, nor could they even create five separate bills. What? 5. When we finally paid, the waitress grabbed me and said, «Um, did you pay yet? Is this your credit card?» and tried to hand me a stranger’s credit card with a receipt. Because I’m not that into credit card theft, I told her it’s not mine and zoomed out of this nightmare dinner. Although the restaurant’s food was good(my order of roasted duck and hand-tossed noodles was pretty tasty), I don’t think I will go out of my way to come back here.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. At night, they always seem to have a car waiting outside for pick up. So, I thought it had to be pretty good. Plus, though I never have seen anyone inside, they have a front room where they make their own noodles. I am usually very wary about a restaurant that tries to do too many things. The menu is mixture of ramen, sushi, and Chinese soups and noodle dishes. I took a chance and ordered Seafood Chow Mein for $ 12. The flavor and construction was totally off. First, the noodles were big fat Udon noodles. Though the flavor of the sauce wasn’t right, they actually tasted pretty good. Except for the 3 very small shrimp, 5 very small clams, and a couple of mussels, everything else looked like it started out as something sliced in the sushi case. I got lots of thinly sliced pieces of over cooked Salmon, and even one piece of cooked eel. The dish came with a decent amount of thinly sliced vegetables. Overall, the dish was a big disappointment. If you are going to list Chinese Seafood Chow Mein on your menu, you should make an effort to make it as authentic as you can; not make it feel like it was prepared from leftover sushi! From reading some of the other Unilocal reviews, it looks like I should have tried some of the Japanese items instead.

I’m not normally one to write reviews unless something has gone awfully wrong. My take out Volcano roll is supposed to be topped with salmon but they topped it with salmon skin. There is NOSALMON on my roll. I usually pick the skin off all fish so to only serve me skin. Means I have nothing to eat. They should edit the menu if that’s what they’re serving. Very misleading.

Oolong Noodles is a rather quiet location that serves a blend of Japanese and Chinese fare. Don’t be fooled by their current three star rating– this place isn’t bad or anything. WHATEVERYOUDO, DEFINITELYGOANDVISITTHEBATHROOMS. THEIRBATHROOMARTWORKISSUPERFUNNYANDVERYINTERESTING. The food isn’t bad– try out their special combos, or their wonderful bowls udon noodles. You won’t regret it!

I work in Fidi. I go to this place for lunch pretty often. The quality of food is very consistent. The price for most of the soup noodles is around 10.95 during lunch time. Add $ 1 if you want to switch udon to ramen. They charge extra $ 1 – 2 for hot tea. Most of the places in Chinatown don’t charge for hot tea. FYI– 3 star spicy is really not that spicy. Regular kimchi is more spicy.

I’ll start off by saying this Restaurant is pretty large(just like their menu badum tss) for an Asian Fusion restaurant being in San Francisco, but it doesn’t get very crowded at night which can be a little awkward when you go here for a date. It usually doesn’t bother me when there are no people around, but it just felt very awkward being here with only my date in this spacious restaurant. HUGE There was only one woman working at the desk, and I’m guessing the rest of the staff was in the kitchen. I saw a guy drive a scooter who was delivering their food; so yes, they do deliver. Our waiter was really attentive and courteous when serving us so we decided to give her a 40% tip. THEFOOD– Was quite delicious, I ordered their coconut juice which was refreshing since it was an actual coconut, until i saw that it had a sticker on it as if it was just a plastic coconut :(. The miso soup wasn’t very memorable. The godzilla roll and dragon roll were very delectable and also the presentation of the rolls were photo ready. I can’t get full off of just two sushi rolls though, so I just had to order their soy sauce based Ramen soup, which was delish, and I also ordered their octopus just to try it which was not a good idea because it was my only complaint; it did not taste very fresh at all! (To recap I ordered the following) : –Coconut juice and miso soup –Godzilla roll –Dragon roll –Grilled Ika(Octopus) –Soy sauce based Ramen soup I would definitely come back, but with a larger group of friends.

It’s yummy. The noodles are freshly made and thus have a slightly chewy texture to them. Vegetable broth is light. Not the true authentic ramen but a good substitute served in a large bowl and of a good portion. Sushi hits the spot w/o being overly expensive. Good location if you are in the neighborhood.

My parents found this place on one of their SF weekend adventures and brought my brother and me back to try it. Finding a noodle place where you can see them making the noodles right in front you is the ultimate winner. However, on the Sunday we arrived, they weren’t making any in the window, so whatever noodles I ate that lunch were probably made the night before. No biggie though, because the noodles are really good! Can only give 3⁄5 stars because the broth wasn’t hot enough when it arrived to the table, and because apparently they lack consistency in their ingredients, based on my parents’ two experiences here.

Sometimes handmade noodles are simply not enough. Especially when the handmade noodles tastes like anything that I can get prepackaged at any Asian market. The beef noodle soup was chewy and the broth tastes like one of those weird beef cubes. I honestly couldn’t tell that these noodles were handmade, if given a blindfold.
