For those you who loved Jack @ Original Palace Barber shop and waited to hear where he would end up… good news! He’s now at a new barber shop that just opened at 953 Mission Street near 5th. Just got a cut today and he’s still got the magic touch! He says he’s working Wed-Friday for the time being(his way of sorta entering retirement). Go and visit him and get the magic haircuts you’ve been missing for the past 6 months(or, since Original Palace closed down). Prices are still very affordable… close to Original Palace prices. Run… don’t walk!

Always a great cut from Jack. Didn’t see any activity at the new location when I walked by last week. Anybody know when they’re opening? Or better yet, where Jack is working?

Worst hair cut I ever received. I had to get a hair cut in a rush and couldn’t go to my regular guy so I picked this place close to my office. Man, it was terrible. It was uneven and ugly as crap. I had to wait for it to grow back so my regular barber could fix it.

Talked to these guys today and they said they’re in the process of moving to 4th and Mission. 813 Mission to be exact.

Their phone number still works. And they answer it. If you want to know what’s going on, you can easily find out. 4th and Mission… opening(hopefully) middle of December… let’s wish them luck.

Moved to 4th and Mission according to the owner. Hopefully open by middle of December. Hope I can hold out that long.

This place is exactly what you need when you’re getting your haircut at lunch. It’s a no-nonsense barber shop — you get in there, get your hair cut, and get out of there. Yes, some guys do smell like smoke and booze, but whatever. It’s cheap, near my office, and I’m not really that picky. Maybe you should go to a hair salon. FYI — as of 12÷2÷14 — just got off the phone with one of the guys and they are in the process of moving to 4th and Mission. He said it should be open in a little over a week.

So I get lined up here every 10 days and I love their work. Mark is truly a master of his craft and there is always a line(a short one at that) to have him do what he does best. HOWEVER — I showed up on Wednesday just before Thanksgiving and the ENTIRESHOPISGONE! No barber chairs, no pictures — stripped bare. And what’s worse was there wasn’t even a sign on the door to tell us if they had been evicted, moved locations etc. Nothing. So I went next door to that Pizza spot and asked what the hell happened? He says they moved to 4th. 4th and what? No one knows. Someone please respond with the new address /story. Thor

I don’t ever write reviews but this place is so bad that it warrants one. First off, the dude’s breath smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. I didn’t notice until I was settled into my chair. He asked how I wanted my hair cut so I showed him a picture of how I had it cut earlier in the year. He might as well not have asked because my hair looked nothing like what I showed him. I wasn’t facing a mirror either so I couldn’t really see what he was doing until he was done. To top it all off, he gets in a fight with another barber and starts swearing at her in the middle of my cut. I’ve gotten bad haircuts before but at least the experiences weren’t so bad. Here, you’ll get a bad cut and a bad time getting it. You’re better off at a Supercuts.

I came here on a Tuesday around 5PM and there was no line! I was getting a mohawk because I was going to be Mr. T for Halloween. The lady took a quick look at the picture and started cutting my hair. Once she got the majority of it cut, she asked me specifically how I wanted it to look. She even put gel in my hair to show me how it would look. She ended up cutting it just the way I wanted. It was only $ 20 for the haircut and I was out in less than 30 minutes! Overall, this is an awesome place for a cheap haircut in Soma, especially for a mohawk. Pros: –They cut mohawks! –Decent price –Not that long of a wait –Friendly and helpful staff Cons: –Inside is a little small so you’re pretty close to everyone

I trust a lot of people with my hair. But this place was awesome. Price is very reasonable and the cuts are awesome. They also trimmed my beard up. Definitely coming back here!

Worst haircut ever. I told him I was growing out the back and sides and to clean up the top. He practically shaved the sides and the back and left the top long. I wasn’t facing a mirror and he dove right in with a clippers before I could ever say«hold on that’s not what I just said.» Now I have a big untapered line around my head. I couldn’t be more angry with this place.

Worst haircut of my life. If you are going to go there, know which barber is going to cut your hair.

I was looking for a barbershop that was open later then 6(which much are not) I Unilocaled it like most people do and found this spot. Yes, the place is small, but the conversations and atmosphere is like of a old style barbershop. The décor is straight forward, no gimmicks, glam, or glitz. Just hair products you probably don’t need to buy. I must admit, the chairs are super-retro-cool-musthavemyhaircutinthatchair. Since it was my first time there, I wasn’t really sure who to go to, but that was solved when I asked for a particular haircut. Michael helped me with a fresh cut that most if not all men would appreciate. Prices is reasonable for that area IMO. I usually pay $ 45(not including tip) for my hair cut at the other place. It was only $ 20(a steal for the cut I got) The best part was the attention to details. Michael kept quiet as I would think a professional is concentrating on their craft. The taper and lining was perfect. If you are looking for a new place to try, give them a shot. Hopefully you have a great experience as I did.

Someone give me a beat, my alter ego Emcee Brad is taking over. (beat drops) Now finding a barber, isn’t easy you see, Cause I take getting my hair cut so seriously. The worst feeling in in the world, would be a haircut that sucks, You need a place that leaves you feeling like a million bucks. So I searched on Unilocal, checked out the results on top, And I stumbled across Original Palace Barber Shop. It’s a bit hard to find, when you reach Mission and 2nd, There’s no sign, but it’s right beside Henry’s, I reckon. I asked for long on the top, but short on the sides, Thin out those side-burns, if you don’t mind. And then the barber got to work, no doubt he was a pro, After I left, girls thought I looked just like DiCaprio. I was out in 15 minutes, with no line to skip, So very affordable, just 20 dollars plus tip. And that’s my review of the barber shop down the street, I give this place 5 stars and I’ll be back in 4 weeks! (drops mic)

The Original Palace Barber shop is a reasonably priced barber shop in SOMA/Fidi. I am sure there are bigger, fancier places in the neighborhood but for a place that you need just to get the job done, this is a perfect. I walked in, sat on the chair and 45 minutes later walked out with the precise hair cut I wanted. Of course no pretensions and no frills. Downsides — 1. Cash only. Which is a bummer but oh well. and 2. You are practically spilling on to the sidewalk since the place is tiny. But overall, a solid experience for the price point.

Been coming here religiously for over the last 4 – 5 years. Teresa is my go to person as she does a great job with my hair but I’ve had my hair cut by almost everyone and they all do a great job. This is definitely a no thrills shop but Teresa & Co do a great job and are very detailed when it comes to cutting hair. $ 20 is a very reasonable price IMO.

Absolutely the worst haircut I have ever had. I definitely will not be back! Asked for the barber to just shave it all and he end up cutting my head up and now have virtually cuts on my head and back of my ears. I typically have thick hair and am going to have to wear sunscreen on my scalp until this grows out. I’ve had a bad haircut before but never this bad! Beware! Hispanic Male… Price: $ 20 Tip: $ 0
