Harry is my mechanic for all work on my Porsche. Very solid and he has earned all of my trust.

I’ve been taking my 1968 Mercedes 280SL to Harry ever since I bought it in 1995… yep — 20 years now… even though I moved to Oakland in 1996. In fact, he did the original inspection before I bought it to give me the 411 on what it needed. I got the recommendation for Harry from a co-​worker at Gap… who got the recommendation from our CEO at the time (hint hint he’s now CEO at J. Crew). He worked on all of our Mercedes and Porsches and BMWs. Yeah… those were heady times at Gap LOL
Anyway, I just picked up my baby from getting some needed maintenance and as usual she runs like a top. Harry’s extremely thorough and his pricing is fair. Top notch quality service and he’ll even research your engine serial #‘s or other ridiculous whatnot you may need when you own a classic car.

This is an honest, knowledgable service garage for your european automobile. Harry knows his stuff and takes pride in the quality of work provided. You will not find a better more capable shop in or near San Francisco.

Harry is great! His specializes in BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. I have a rare 2001 BMW model. He has been perfectly comfortable working on it. Found Pacific Motors through Tire Rack where they are highly rated as a local installer. Not only did Harry do a beautiful job installing the tires carefully on my rims, he also discovered a small crack in one of the rims that has been unknown until now. He took the time to explain to me the difference in my old and new tires, and sure enough what he told me to expect about the difference in the ride on the new tires is exactly on point. We discussed the urgency of getting new rims and although Harry sells rims, he did not in any way pressure me to buy now. Harry also changed the front brakes and rooters, installing a much better product that was originally on the vehicle.
Harry completed all work exactly when promised. The shop is easy to find and is close to many Muni lines.
As stated in other reviews, Pacific Motors in not inexpensive, and he does not compete on price. Harry stands out for the quality of his work and his knowledge of the vehicles he services.
I recommend Pacific Motors without reservation.

I have known Harry for 20+ years and he has worked on my Porsche’s, Mercedes and BMW’s. He is spot on, meticulous, and hygienic every time. He is one of the few honest guys in the game. He does it right the first time. Sure you can go to cheaper shops, but you’ll end up bringing your car back 2 – 3 times before it’s right and it’ll end up costing you more in the long run.

After moving to town, I was walking my dog by Pacific Motors and saw all the older 911s under Harry’s care. Having just retrieved my 84 Carrera from storage after 18+ months, Harry has far and away exceeded my expectations for service quality! He is mindful of an appropriate strategy to work on these classic engineering marvels, and stands out as the benchmark of my car’s service providers (and I was quite happy with my last provider back in Westchester, NY).
As I indicated to Harry upon receiving my car back, it’s more important for me to find a top notch service provider for my car versus a doctor for myself. It brings peace of mind knowing that Pacific Motors is nearby to provide the experience, wisdom, and skill to support older Porsche needs (though Harry will remind you that he works on the spectrum of Porsches (old-​new), too).
I’d give examples how how he exceeded my expectations, but you would be sure to learn about this once working with him. If you want someone who can make your car, «Better than new,» call Harry!

For over 30 years I have brought every car I have ever owned to Harry Hayashi (porsche, mbz, range rover, jaguar etc). He is the most honest and knowledgeable auto expert I have ever encountered. This shop is a hidden gem.
