I went with a group of 4 friends and we ordered the special deep dish and bbq deep dish pizza for lunch. The waitress warned us that it would be about 45 minutes until the pizza was ready and offered to bring us bread to snack on while we wait. The service was amazing(maybe because we were the only ones there). Our glasses of water were never empty and our needs were always met right away. Once the pizza arrived, the waitress served a slice to each of us. We order 12′ inch pizzas’ which meant that there were about 8 pieces each one. I was full after 2 slices. The pizza is super gooey and cheesy and the crust is the perfect crispy texture. I would recommend both pizzas because they were outstanding.

Absolutely delicious. Not your typical pizza joint because it is Chicago style but the food is delicious. Great place to try if you want to mix it up from your normal pizza stop!

God damn it, I’ve never had such refreshing water. I understand that people will look at this and laugh but from the depths of my heart, and I’m a big man, this is the best water in the Bay Area, perhaps, all of California. The water to ice ratio is perfect with 18 cubes to a 14-fl. ounce cup. It’s incredible.

Finally went to Patxi’s for dinner last night and we were pleasantly surprised! We got the special, with sausage, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers. It took 45 minutes for the deep dish to come out but it was well worth the wait! The crust was crisp and not greasy. The cheese was all melty and gooey. And the tomato sauce tasted really fresh and bright. I usually don’t notice the pizza sauce but this one was exceptional. Sausage and other toppings were tasty as well. We noticed that there was a bottle of honey on the table, and couldn’t figure out why! But then we saw someone putting honey on their pizza… Maybe we will have to try that next time! We also ordered the artichoke dip, which took awhile to come out. It was okay but nothing amazing. A little too spicy for my taste. Service was great! Our waitress was really warm and friendly.

Second attempt with takeout on Wednesday and very unexpected. Called over an hr ahead for pickup. Came in and was told to wait 15 mins for my order. Then waiter gives me wrong pizza and told me to wait. Another 15 mins go by and gave me my order and said they messed up and put jalapeños on the whole pizza instead of half. Are you serious? I really just wanted to be gone with it. Waited another 10 mins and finally got my deep dish. Ok ready to pay with my gift card waiter didn’t know how to ring up and asked for back up. Wow really…

I stop at Patxi’s every time I am in San Francisco and like checking out different locations to find the perfect one. The pizza is just as tasty at all of the locations, so that is great, they are consistent. What is also consistent is that they are always busy and the wait for a table as well as for the pizza is pretty long. Not much you can do about it when it comes to pizza, deep dish takes awhile but it is so worth it. I have to say it is by far the best deep dish on the west coast, I really love their sauce and crust. While it is pricey at well over $ 20 a pizza and they aren’t huge, they are super filling and you really can’t eat more than 2 – 3 slices, a large can feed 3 – 4 people and is a great meal along with one of their salads. Service was nice, the restaurant simple, but clean. Very busy, waiters bustling around, this is not a place for a romantic date, but perfect for a great dinner with the family. Worth a stop while in the area.

It’s like being in Chicago in the West Coast. Solid and hearty pizzas here. Fresh ingredients and perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and flaky topping. It takes a long time to make a deep dish pizza so if you ask for delivery expect it in 90 minutes… just sayin’ The famous Matt Cain is my favorite along with the Greek and BBQ chicken. G –double O-D pizza joint for sure

Finally tried Patxi’s last night, delicious! We had the special, fennel sausage, mushrooms and peppers. The crust was really good, didn’t have a greasy texture like some I’ve had else where. There was a perfect amount of cheese, and the tomato sauce rocks. I ordered the large arugula salad with lemon dressing, perfect match. They have good beer on tap, and wines by the glass are reasonable, especially during happy hour, before 6:00. The atmosphere is really nice, and service was excellent. We will be going back, so tasty.

I haven’t had many deep dish pizzas in my life, but I don’t think I’m a deep dish fan. Plenty of other people love it, including Mr. Joy & people at work who have ordered Patxi’s for several office parties. I do like the look of the restaurant, which is very much like a traditional pizzeria, with exposed brick walls, exposed kitchen behind the counter, and dark wooden furniture. There’s a good amount of seating too. Deep Dish Pizzas ~$ 20-$ 30, for 10″ or 12″ or 14″ I’ve tried the Matt Cain w/pepperoni & garlic-fennel sausage, and the Build Your Own options. They all contain a hefty amount of tomato sauce in the filling, and more tomato sauce doused on top. The crust is not really thick enough to support all the wet filling. As a result, all the moisture makes for a pretty wet and soggy crust on the bottom. The edges are fluffy and crunchy though. On the plus side, there is plenty of gooey mozzarella. The slices are huge and super filling. The flavors are pretty good, but I would just prefer more meat and crust, and less tart sauce. They also come in whole wheat crust for those who are interested. Thin Crust Pizzas ~$ 15-$ 25, for 10″ or 14″ I’ve tried the Bianco Verde w/pesto, ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan. I find the thin crust much more texturally satisfying. The white & green pizza was super gooey & cheesy, with a crunch. These also come in whole wheat or gluten-free crust, which is great if you have celiac disease. The Build Your Own options have plentiful topping choices. Toppings are $ 2-$ 5, so that does add up quickly. Keep in mind pizzas are made to order, so it can take some time to bake, especially the deep dish pizzas. You can call in your order by phone Mon-Thurs, so that helps. Given the amount of time it takes, I’d say it may be a better option to have your pizza delivered.

3⁄5 for the wait on the deep dish and 4⁄5 on the pizza. If you plan on ordering a deep-dish pizza, be prepared to wait a while. We ordered a 12″ Deep Dish«Special» pizza(definitely too big for 2, but good enough for left overs) and a small Caesar salad. The wait for deep dish is about 30 – 45 minutes just to cook, so don’t come on an empty stomach unless you decide to order a salad or the thin crust pizza. Just a heads up — the Caesar salad is served with anchovies. The pizza itself tasted good; a tad bit too much sauce for my liking but absolutely worth a try. Some advise from our server was to drizzle honey on the deep dish crust which surprisingly tasted good. Overall, will come back again, but in no rush to me. Definitely will order the Caesar and deep dish, but I may just opt in the take-out option next time.

The pizza can be very good, but with every successive visit my tolerance for the service decreases. Many times my kids and I eat-in, but more recently we have been ordering pickup. And here is the problem, they seem incapable of making a pizza in under an hour. Compounded by ridiculous hold times on the phone and an inability to understand customers orders. Eg recently I called and ordered a small cheese with onions on half. To which the person who answered the phone asked, do you want cheese on that half also? I scratched my head and said yes, and with sauce too please. Wtf? It also really burns me that when you call, the phone system asks if you are ordering ten or more pizzas, and if you are they pickup immediately. If not, please hold, many times for much longer than ten minutes. Am I wrong to think that’s kind of obnoxious? Well at this point I know what to do to deal with these issues… Order from elsewhere. Ironically I wrote this sitting in their restaurant WAITING for my order, late.

We had a terrible experience here, where to even begin. Basically, we arrived before 6pm on a Sunday, and it was busy but not crazy. There were a few open tables and we(two of us) grabbed one. We ordered a small deep dish pizza(half favorite and half pesto spinach) and the waitress let us know it will be about 50 mins. We were hungry, but willing to wait. We wait about an hour and the waitress comes by saying that they’re running late and will check up. 20 more minutes go by and the waitress tells us that our pizza will be ready in 10 minutes and offers a complimentary app. We ask the bruschetta, and she brings it out pretty quickly. Still no pizza. Everyone that arrived after us had already received their deep dish pizzas. Finally, the pizza come at 7:35(I timed it) and we’re STARVING. We start chowing down, until my friend finds a piece of wood in the pizza. Umm WTF?! We flag the waitress, she apologizes and says she’ll be right back. We see her go back to her job and about 10 minutes later, she comes by and says«you guys are good’ indicating we don’t need to pay the bill. GEETHANKS. Never going back there again.

The pizza is consistently delicious. And in a city of many excellent places to eat pizza, Patxi Pizza has never fallen short. And yes, they deliver and it arrived fresh and hot each and everytime. My favorite is the Spinach Pesto concoction with added sausage. Make sure to tip well folks!

I ordered half Matt Cain and half of BBQ chicken deep dish with my boyfriend. We also got the bruchetta appetizer. The honey at the table to add onto the crust is a nice treat, which my boyfriend showed me. Food and service is great on a Thursday. Our server was Anthony. Although it did take 20⁄30 minutes for our food to come out, I would still go back here because it’s made to order. Keep up the good work!

Looking for a good deep dish place in San Francisco? Patxis(puh-cheeese) is the place to go. Price for a 12 inch special will run you about $ 40. I recommend getting the regular deep dish crust(the whole wheat tastes weird). You can also ask for LOWFAT mozzarella so do it! It tastes just as good worth less fat. My favorite is the Spinach and pesto, but I also add barbecue chicken on top of it(extra $ 4.00). When you eat the yummy slice and get to the crust, make sure to put honey on it, it’s delightful. Also, download the THANX app, as they always give you a discount or free appetizers. The staff is very friendly and this location is rather a nice one. They do Tuesday night trivia which is also fun. The back can accommodate a large party. Lastly, it’s deep dish, so it’ll take a good 45 minutes, just be mentally prepared. ENJOY!

Over TWO hours wait for a pizza. They could have walked it over here faster. I called two hours in and they said the pizza driver just left to deliver it. After being a good patron for three years, I’ll never order from them again.

Not worth it. Skip. We ordered a 10″ half & half custom pizza which came out to be around $ 24. Each topping added is around $ 0.75 per half. When digging in, the crust was soggy and the whole thing came apart. Certainly not what you expect after paying that much for so little.

I’ve never had a bad experience with Patxi’s and often come here on Tuesdays to kick butt at Trivia night(if your team wins, you get a $ 50 gift card)! Now, is their pizza the best in the whole wide world? No but it definitely hits the spot, especially if you’re craving a deep dish. The tomatoes aren’t too sour(which can often be the case with this style of pizza), the veggies always taste fresh, and their crusts seem to be getting crispier and tastier every time I come here. They have several pre-made options or you can customize your pie, but my fav is definitely the Special. There’s just something about that garlic fennel sausage! Patxi’s also offers gluten-free and whole wheat crusts, as well as vegan mozzarella and soy-free options too. I know it’s San Francisco, but it still boggles my mind how allergy-friendly a pizza parlour can be! I’m less of a fan of the thin crust pizzas(although I appreciate how chewy the dough is without tasting rubbery) so if that’s what you’re looking for, would recommend other options in the area(e.g., Arizmendi’s, Escape from NY, etc). I also wish delivery would be a bit faster but that’s definitely a more general issue with the restaurants here(I guess that’s what Caviar is for?). Last but not least, I cannot praise the staff enough! One time I came here on a cold day and wanted some hot water while I waited for a table. At first the manager hesitated and said«We don’t have hot water actually, but wait…» And then she had one of the servers run to Starbucks next door to get me hot water. And every time I come here with a large party(8+), they ALWAYS find a way to accommodate(that patio area in the back is great for large parties btw). I also want to give Gabriele a special shoutout for dealing with our large party and all the coupons and deals we wanted to apply to our bill. She was gracious, attentive, and simply wonderful all around! Yay for Patxi’s and don’t forget to eat your pizza crust at the end of your meal with honey!

First time at this location. I’ve been to the one on Hayes before with mixed results. Had a delicious meal and impeccable service! We got a ten inch half special/half Matt Cain with pineapple(sounds weird but actually really good). We also ordered the focaccia and butter lettuce salad to start because we were super hungry when we sat down(we tried to call ahead for dine-in so they could start our pizza but they don’t offer that method of ordering on weekends). Love the honey on the table for the crust at the end – sweet ending to a delicious meal!
