Paul was one of my supervisors when I was living and working in San Francisco. I was collecting hours towards licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I worked with Paul for close to three years. I have nothing but great things to say about Paul as a supervisor and as a therapist. I have no doubt that the qualities that I valued in Paul as a supervisor are qualities that a client would value in Paul as a therapist. Paul is warm, engaging, intelligent and professional. Paul has a keen sense for making people feel comforted and supported. His years of experience in the field have provided him with a vast clinical knowledge which is evident in how he approaches treatment planning; tailoring the care he provides to the individual rather than utilizing cookie cutter approaches. This experiences has equipped him to provide care to the most diverse and complex cases. Above all else, Paul has a genuine enthusiasm for his work that is palpable. His care and concern for his clients and colleagues is abundant and inspiring. It is rare to see Paul without a smile on his face. I miss working with Paul and can recommend him as a therapist, supervisor and consultant without hesitation.

Paul provided supervision to me for two years as I collected hours for MFT licensure, working with high-risk kids in a K-8 school setting. I found Paul to be warm, engaging, enthusiastic and professional. He provided a steady, calming, supportive presence, especially when my stress levels seemed overwhelming. He offers a wide range of clinical knowledge, experience and expertise. He has the ability to communicate therapeutic concepts in clear, relatable language. He has the ability to conceptualize very complex cases and provide a useful framework/roadmap for helping the individuals and families on my caseload. I felt supported and listened to. Paul always conveyed that he valued and respected my clinical thinking. He provided strength-based support; always challenging me while also trusting and encouraging my clinical goals and ideas. He tailored his supervision to my specific needs, questions and challenges, as well as to the context of my work. He is very knowledgeable and flexible in his application of multiple theoretical perspectives.

Paul was a supervisor at my current agency for two years, so I feel I can speak to not only his expertise in providing therapy for a wide range of people, but also his ability to teach, train, supervise, and consult. Paul is wonderfully real and direct, while also conveying the utmost care, concern, and respect for all. He has an admirable ability to connect with clients and supervisees, creating a safe and trusting relationship where people feel free to be themselves. In particular, I think Paul excels at welcoming folks who might not usually consider therapy, helping them feel comfortable quickly. His working style is very versatile. He works not only with adults, but also with children, families, adolescents, and couples; his office is incredibly well-equipped with play therapy and sand tray items. It’s a wonderful atmosphere! Additionally, if you’re a therapist in training seeking some additional supervision, I would definitely recommend Paul, who supports interns and trainees from a strength-based perspective, and has much to teach new counselors.
