I’ve had long hair for the last 1.5 years, and I finally decided to cut it to a short bob. I was nervous and showed Willow a few pictures of the style I wanted, and Willow did a fantastic job! It got me 99 (and counting) facebook likes in one day! my husband, who was totally opposed to me cutting my hair, said «ok, it’s not as bad as I feared. your haircut is really cute.» THANKS WILLOW!

I decided I wanted to try a blue ombré look and made an appointment at Pirate because of the Unilocal reviews. I was a little nervous, as I don’t regularly dye my hair, so I E-​mailed Willow prior to my appointment with lots of questions and pictures of what I wanted. He was extremely helpful and addressed all of my concerns, and even took time when I was actually there just to go over everything to make sure that I was getting the exact look I wanted.
I initially wanted more of a pastel color, but he was really honest and told me about all of the damage that kind of bleaching would do to my hair. He ended up suggesting a blend of turquoise and dark blue, which was a bit bolder, but ended up looking fantastic!
Thanks to Willow my hair is imaginative, sassy, and fun and I couldn’t be happier.
I highly recommend going to him for anyone looking to change up their normal look with something funky and fabulous!

Tanya is AMAZING! I told her to use my head as a canvas and she did! She created an amazing sunset/​fiery color combination that just blew me away. I have gotten so many compliments on it so far. She is quick, efficient and great company while she works on your hair. I would 110 000 000% recommend Tanya her Pirate Salon to anyone.

Hair gods be praised, I have found my new salon! I am a recent SF transplant and have had a rocky road trying to find someone I could afford/​trust to keep up my highlights. A recent groupon nightmare left me with a bleached ring of orange roots which when trailed by my mousy brown natural color was looking very unchill indeed. Willow and Tanya were super welcoming and Willow wasted no time in giving me a couple options to work with. On his recommendation we decided to throw a couple lowlights in to blend in with the brassiness my groupon tormenter had bestowed upon me. The end result was fantastic; Willow turned that brass into class and now my head looks normal again!
Not only were Willow and Tanya great, but I love the space and format of this salon. Its super cute and intimate so you feel like you’re just chillin with your friends in someone’s living room. And their prices are crazy cheap, especially for such talented stylists. $ 75 for partial highlights? That’s bonkers! The tradeoff for this deal is you shampoo/​condition and style yourself. Maybe this isn’t for everyone but I LOVE THIS. They have a big ol’ sink with plenty of towels and quality products to use, and personally I had fun splish splashin in there. Then there’s a styling station with tons of brushes, irons (even crimping for your next 80s party!), sprays potions serums and a couple hair dryers to choose from. I usually like my freshly dyed ‘do the most after I wash and style it myself anyway so this was perfect. They gave me a couple of recommendations of products to try and they were great and yummy smelling. I was just going to the gym after so just blasted my roots to check out the color and went off on my merry way, but they weren’t rushing me at all and I got the feeling that I could’ve given myself a thorough blowout if I had been so inclined. Anyway, thank you guys for existing and doing what you do, I will be back again and again!
