Pissed Off Pete’s is a very, very classy drinking establishment.

Chill bar! I was a little intimidated when I walked in, even though I was with my bf, because there were only men there, but we went in for a drink. Sitting there, more women came in as it got a little later so it was totally fine. Pretty cool place, they had games going on with plenty of tvs. There’s a good area in the back. I had the hummus which was good! I’ll definitely be back. Everyone there was very chill and laid back. I liked the vibe.

Neighborhood oasis.(In the sense that I’m thirsty to drink). This place doesn’t let me down with a large offering in hard liquor and draft beer offerings. Just had they’re food, carnitas fries and I can attest to a relaxed and yummy night out in the neighborhood. No need to go far if you’re a local. Enjoy yourself. Grab some drinks and grub. Watch a game or two if you’re a sports fan.

I’m from San Francisco and sadly old skool bars like Pete’s are quickly disappearing. This is a great place with real people and real good simple honest drinks. no bs and no pretentiousness. If you look around at the bar and crowd it definitely represents for sf(enough said). Love to come here after work for a drink and strike up a convo with a new or old friend your always guaranteed a good honest time. Sadly there happy hour chips are gone(but hey everyone’s gotta survive in this crazy town). Also a great plac to watch the giants or niners. If you don’t like this bar you probably work for one of those highfalutin techie companies and are better off just hanging out with your own kind. Also bartender Dee is the best!!! You could be having the worst day ever and she will make sure that you are sorted. One more thing… they’ve got Paddys whiskey and if your irish you’ll know what I’m taking about.

Neighborhood bar. Lots of locals. Strong drinks. Fast service. I really enjoy messing with their jukebox. Last time I went there was ABBA, Tom Waits, Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Erasure, Sharon Jones and The Dap-Kings. All the jams. ALLTHEJAMSYOUGUYS. I am kind of pissed about the kitchen situation. I’ve been there on several weekend evenings and their kitchen is closed. For remodels? For no reason? Super frustrating when you are hungry.

I like this place. A good spacious dive, with a solid selection of everything one would expect in an SF bar — that means things like racer 5, and buffalo trace. Was told that on weekends it gets more crowded but on a weeknight it was refreshingly empty.

Came here for after work drinks. This epitomizes dive bars as the quintessential place to come to when you have no other place to grab a drink in the neighborhood. Dark, dingy, and a couple of TVs to watch the game. If that’s what you’re into then by all means. This isn’t my gripe though with this place. You see all those lovely pictures that people have posted of food here? Well, make sure to only come in on Fridays and Saturdays if you want to try any of it. That is, if that item is still on the menu. There’s been some comments about the kitchen changing and different cooks? That’s all well and good. But that scrumptious pizza image was what was initially drawing me here and that was nowhere to be found while trying to catch some NBA playoffs. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The bartender had no qualms about outside food, understanding that the kitchen was closed today. Some times I just want to have a little bar food though while enjoying the game, and that wasn’t to be found that evening.

My friends frequent this bar a lot, not just because it’s close to their new apartment, but because the people there are so friendly. It reminds me a lot of that show Cheers, «where everybody knows your name». The beers are pretty reasonably priced, and the karaōke night was amazingly fun. I like the Anchor Steam and the generous whiskey shots. I think we all had a little too much to drink, but it helped to ease our nerves about performing onstage in front of a couple dozen people. I didn’t get to sing«Como La Flor», but it’s probably for the best; a young Mexican fella I had just met earlier was going to be my partner to make it a duet, but he was too inebriated to function. However, I did a pretty mean rendition of Selena’s «Dreaming of You» with Mariah W. I felt like a rock star, even though I’ll admit that I was way off-key. Dee the bartender was super cool and totally rocks. This is probably my new favorite bar. I can’t wait to become a regular here, too.

I would have given more stars but I’m sitting in the bar right now and there is no music playing. Asked the bartender to put on something and was told I would have to play the jukebox. What? Suddenly, I’m responsible for giving this bar a little life and atmosphere. I shouldn’t have to pay to hear music unless there is a particular song I want to hear. If you like the sound of old drunks gurgling in the corner, this is the place for you. If you like a place that has a little atmosphere, go somewhere else — which is what I’m going to do as soon as I finish this drink.

This bar is a great neighborhood bar. They are buried in the Excelsior, but they are quickly adapting changing trends to stay competitive in today’s market. The biggest thing that got me coming back was the little restaurant inside, but they’ve switched to a different one now. They’ve said that my favorite menu item will still be there, but I’ve yet to check. As for the staff, they’re pretty friendly, and most of them know me after the handful of times I’ve been there, and I even find that I’m able to study during their quieter times, which keeps me from distractions I’d have otherwise at home, and their bar takes credit cards, which is awesome since so few bars do in this day and age.

We had heard mixed things about this place, but some friends we trust come here somewhat often(they live close.) This is more of a neighborhood bar than what I expected, also not as busy as anticipated. Which was totally cool with us, we were able to talk, but it wasn’t like we were sitting in an empty bar. The bartender was cool, and patrons were friendly. The food and drinks are really reasonable. The burger and fries we shared were REALLY good. Cooked exactly as we requested, seasoned well, fries were crisp. Better than many burgers I’ve paid more for. We also shared a small margherita pizza,(most of which my hubby took home for lunch the next day.)Pizza was ok, nothing special. This is exactly the kind of neighborhood place every neighborhood should have. I’m a little jealous we don’t live closer. Good food and drinks, low key atmosphere, the whole experience hit the spot:) **Credit cards are taken at the bar, but not at the restaurant in the back** Also, the chef running the kitchen is a legit chef. He’s not just slinging bar food. He has a variety of items on the menu, and is using good quality products. His resume will convince you, he’s a chef, not just a guy in the back putting together food.

My favorite thing about this bar is that it’s big enough that you can find a dark corner to sit in. They’ve also got a good variety on tap too. I’ll update this after I eat there on my next visit.

I’ve walked by this bar a few times and never thought to go in. After an unsuccessful search for parking in the Mission during dinner time(what were we thinking), a group of us decided to go to Outer Mission instead. This was my first time actually walking in and it’s a pretty big spot(for San Francisco at least)! The bartender and other workers were very friendly and accommodating. Their food is pretty good too! We came with empty stomachs and were so happy to see that the kitchen was open. I think this will be one of my future go-to’s to meet up with friends.

Were you aware that Pissed Off Pete’s in the Excelsior is not just a dive/karaōke bar, but also serves delicious food? And not just bar snacks! I got a wholesome and delicious beet salad with toasted hazelnuts, and my friends got the«Butterbutt» pizza(pork butt and butternut squash) and a delicious-looking bagel burger. The variety of styles of fries include«Hoser style»(poutine) and«Jack in the Crack.» They also offer a locally-sourced veg burger, which I will definitely go back and try(restaurants who serve Gardenburgers as their vegetarian option should be burned to the ground). Even the service was extremely friendly. Especially given the convenient location, we’ll definitely be back! Many thanks to my friend Toni and Mark, who moved in around the corner, for discovering the food here.

Nothing good ever comes out of Facebook stalking except getting yourself PISSEDOFF. On Wednesday, I had one of those moments that made the hair on my arms raise… all because I was being a nosy beezie. Being the awesome multi-tasker that I am, I then accidentally sent a «friend request» to this person. In a panic, I also«liked» their profile picture. Great one, Cherylynn. UGH. After that debacle, the end of the workday couldn’t come any sooner so that my lips can touch Mr. Fernet’s. Pissed Off Pete’s seemed like an appropriate choice to visit seeing how pissed off I was. Timing couldn’t have been any better as they have a new kitchen staff with new menu which will give Broken Record a run for their money. According to Eater SF, the new chefs hail from Schmidt’s, Southern Pacific Brewing and Osteria Coppa(San Mateo) which was very promising as I’ve been to the former two and enjoyed it. Here’s a pic of the menu: . The kitchen closes at 11 pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Brunch is in the works for the future. Pissed Off Pete’s is the epitome of a dive; it’s dark, depressing, and smells kinda funky. Ignore the awkward stares as you walk in(do I have a booger hanging?) and head straight to the back to place your order. There’s only one four-top in the back area with the pool table. So if you don’t snag that coveted table, you’ll have to sit out in the front bar area. From the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Wings to the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sammie w/Chinese 5-Spice Pickled Onions, Bacon & Tapatio on Waffle Bun, everything sounded so deliciously enticing. We settled on 5 dishes for the two of us which was complete overboard as the portions are generous so we had leftovers. Prices are super reasonable so order up! We started with the Beet Salad($ 8) which was served with seasonal greens, pickled onions, quark, toasted hazelnut & blood orange vinaigrette: . A solid salad, everything was über fresh. I never had quark before which is like a ricotta. The mild creaminess really balanced the acidity of the onions and vinaigrette. Their Housemade Chicharones($ 5) were too hard to pass up so we had to order it: . The warm lemon peppered rinds were topped with mole poblano sauce and queso fresco which made it unique. The chicharones were good on its own but the duo gave it a savory and creamy oomph. I never cared for pasta as a kid unless it was fried raviolis so it was nostalgic to seem it on the menu. Although the portion of Fried Ravioli was generous for $ 5 this was my least favorite item as it was more sautéed than fried: . Since the butternut squash filling is soft and creamy, I think having a deep-fried, crunchy exterior crust would have worked better for a textural contrast. Muffin tops started spilling over at this point and we still didn’t receive our entrees… For my entrée, I had to order the Butterbutt Pizza($ 10) because it reminded me of Major Lazer’s Bubble Butt song: . It didn’t disappoint. The thin-crust pizza was topped with a good amount of oooey gooey cheese, tender slices of sweet butternut squash, nicely pungent feta fonduta, and mouth-watering morsels of maple braised pork butt, then drizzled with a balsamic reduction. I’ve been eating a lot of thin crusts pizzas lately and it was definitely much better than the one I had at Pizza Hacker the week before. The mister’s Beer Braised Pork Chop($ 12) took a while to come out but it was worth the wait: . It was cooked medium rare to medium AS pork should be to create an incredible tenderness. The brining surely did its job as the pork chop was flavorful throughout with a fragrant smoky nuance. I’m down with dives but Pissed Off Pete’s is not a bar I would go to regularly though they have cheap drinks; HELLO $ 6 shots of fernet! What Pissed Off Pete’s is worth going for is the food. It’s better than the new kitchen at Broken Record(Hood Grub) and in hindsight, I should of rated Hood Grub 3 not 4 stars: . I can’t wait to go back to try more of their menu items like the Jack in the Crack style fries with velveeta fonduta and house smoked bacon bits. Elevated trailer trash grub. Love.
