Playwrights Foundation

We can see a lot of plays in the Bay Area, and there’s still no way we can see everything. Nevertheless, we almost never get to see work by contemporary French playwrights. This weekend, the Playwrights Foundation is doing all French in the Des Voix… Found in Translation festival. Friday night we got a taste of their writing in the Bal Littéraire (Literary Ball) where the three playwrights we’ll be watching over the next two days joined three U.S. playwrights in a 24-​hour story-​and-​songfest. The six playwrights would read and act a piece of the story then we’d all dance a song, and more story and more dance until the story was done. It was a blast (and yes, I danced).
Okay, so you missed that, sorry. You still have Saturday and Sunday May 26 and 27 to see the work of the three playwrights in staged reading, translated into English. They’ll also have some panels on Sunday.
So, four stars for the fun I had tonight, plus one star for the opportunity to see this work that I wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to see.
