Bizarre, bizarre customer service. I walked in to this empty store looking to return some items I purchased online, and the three employees who were huddled at the front desk looked up, saw me and quickly scattered. The one person who remained at the counter seemed to go mute when I said I had an online return. He then offered to mail the items back for me. When I told him that no, I would like to return them at the store and that someone on the phone had told me I could do so, he said that«their department handled it». What department – online sales, I guess? But isn’t Prana the website and Prana the store kind of the same thing? I have no idea what he meant, and I’m not sure he did either. I asked again if he could return the items there, and he finally said he could in fact process the return. Things got weirder from there. He proceeded to stare mutely at my online order printout until I pointed out that basically I was returning 4 of 5 items, and pointed out the line for the one I was keeping. He then walked to the computer and stared again, as if he didn’t know what he was doing(I guess?). At this point, I was pretty sure the store staff had been instructed not to take online returns for some reason, so I asked exactly what Prana’s return policy was. The answer I got was totally bizarre– he began to tell me about their warranty department and how items can be repaired and how they are guaranteed for the life of the garment. Um, ok. but what about returns? No answer. Blank stare. By now I am really frustrated– he has not picked up one item to scan yet. Out of pure frustration, I asked why it was that they would not say what their policy with regard to returns was. All I got was another bizarre reply in which he said that«it messes with our scheduling». Your scheduling? Of employees’ time? «It messes with our budgeting», was the next response. Ok, that makes a bit more sense. In any case, he had still not scanned one item, so I said you know what, it’s clear you don’t want to take this return, so I’ll just mail it back. Truly the oddest conversation I’ve had with a retail employee, ever. I am pretty sure he was just saying what he’d been told to say, and that he perhaps didn’t understand it himself. It’s pretty clear, though… if you bought something online and need to return it, just mail the damn thing back. This store is of zero help in that regard.

Walked in and found the most perfect fitting pants in seconds! Perfect for riding my bike to work and looking professional. This has never happened! Add in smiling staff who confirmed the perfect fit, nice fitting rooms and jams, and it’s a lovely experience.

I was very disappointed by their customer service. I bought 4 items there on June 19th and had to ship one to my place because they didn’t have my size. I was told that the item will be shipped within 7 to 10 days but haven’t heard anything from them for almost 3 weeks! Finally I called them and they said because of the size problem they are just shipping my package and it will take another 7 to 10 days. I expected an express shipping service since I waited for so long also they didn’t even apologize. They should have let me known if they really had a size problem but they didn’t. I honestly think they just forgot to ship my item in the first place.

Though I can’t say that I’m a fan of prAna’s whole line — I did find a number of beautifully made items in vivid colors that were both comfortable and practical. I ended up putting a sunset yellow rain-jacket on hold. It was well crafted and unique and I’m hoping it will be a great way to welcome in the rain — when it comes. It wasn’t cheap, but it was such a stunning color that I had to make the purchase. The staff at prAna were exceptionally friendly and helpful — throughout my time here and called me this week to let me know that my jacket had arrived. If you’re looking for a sports wear alternative to the Lululemons out there — praNa’s worth browsing. I found many of their cuts — more geared to my mom’s liking, but I’m definitely pumped about my new coat. Trust.

I’m excited about this store. The staff seem very genuine and they are growing quickly… so there are a few growing pains. But the manager was able to get me a special order for a certain color(after the staff found it was available). Expect typical yoga store prices, but the staff seem awesome.

prAna is a small chain of stores HQ in Carlsbad, California. They started off manufacturing clothes for other retail outlets, then started opening up their own stores. This one on Fillmore in SF has been open for just a few months. The store design is pleasant, merchandised well, with a natural vibe that appeals to the Yoga enthusiast. This is like a Lululemon meets something between Banana Republic. And Old Navy. The staff is very attentive and happy to serve you, unlike most of those mall stores. There is another Yoga specialty store up Fillmore a few blocks. But there is definitely room for two. Because you can come to this part of Fillmore between Post and Broadway any Saturday, and you will see nothing but 30 something females in their Yoga workout cloths carrying their matts. Then after they stretch out, they will be eating at one of the many eateries to reward themselves for working out.
