To save other Unilocalers time and the Park Ranger manning Bldg 201 from answering the same questions repeatedly — there is no museum or collection here. In fact the Ranger said the collection holdings were returned to their origins about 15 years ago. They do have a few handouts and information about the location and surrounding areas. Just go and enjoy the Fort Mason area, the open green spaces, great views of the Golden Gate from within the park and stop searching for something which does not exist. The Ranger said there some bad info floating about on the internet, so hopefully, this posting will correct some of that. Cheers.

For the life of me, I can not believe that I am first to review this Museum. My hubby is a huge history buff. He could out do anyone in history trivia. Visiting the Presidio, Fort Point and the Presidio Army Museum was a must do. The Presidio Army Museum is inside of an old Army hospital, which dates back to the mid 1800’s. Relics and documents from the Spanish Army, who first utilized this building as a major command center during the Spanish-American war, can be viewed here. Witness an excellent collection from first the Spanish and then the American Armies Post of 218 years. Many documents of the building of San Francisco can be found here, as well. There is some neat old stuff and it is free to enter.
