I called to make an appointment, the person on the other line answered Project XO, so after I said I would like to get a haircut and make an appointment, I got hang up? Still searching for a new hairdresser=(

I’ve been going to Hung for almost 10 years now. He is the longest relationship I have ever been in. I followed him from Grasshopper to Adollup and NOW he has his own salon. I am not only proud of his achievements but also happy that he still gets me. On Saturday I text’d him at 10am and he was able to squeeze me in last minute at 11:30. :) I dont know anyone else that could had done that for me.
He’s been doing my hair for so long, he just tells me what I need done and i just nod.

LOVE Elisa whom I have been going to for years. Thank heavens that she had left Grasshopper Salon which has been very unprofessional on more than one occasion. This place is friendly, professional, and not pretentious.

My first Unilocal review and I just had to bestow it upon Hung and his Project XO salon. Add me to the list of long-​time clients. I first saw Hung at Grasshopper Salon years ago. He transformed my thick, drab hair into manageable curly locks. Since then I was hooked and haven’t seen anybody else. I’m so happy that Hung opened his own shop. Make sure to book weeks in advance though since his schedule gets booked up pretty quick.

Hands downs, best hair cut I’ve ever had!

I followed Melissa from Adollup and I would follow her over and over again! She is by far the best stylist I have ever had and going to her is one of the greatest treats I give myself! Would recommend to absolutely anyone! Also she’s just so frickin fun to talk to and I always leave blissed out! 5 stars hand down.

Love Hareg. I have been following her for about 3 years for my cut and color and I have never been disappointed. My preference in hair color seems to change with the seasons, and she can take me from my natural dark brown to a progressively lighter blonde balayage and back without the intermediate brassy, orange-​ish look that I have unfortunately experienced in the past. She listens to what I think I want and knows my hair well enough to make the look work for me.

Hung is great! He is super knowledgeable and great at suggesting options (especially if you don’t want to have a drastic change, like me:)

Just went here for a full balayage with Melissa and I love it! Blonde can sometimes go wrong especially when you’ve lived in a lot of cities and been too a lot of salons. She’s super fun to talk to also. I thought the prices were very reasonable for balayage. Many other places in the city charge way more and aren’t as talented. I’m definitely coming back!

Just moved over from Miami. I am SO picky with anything hair related. Both cut and color. I’ve had every salon nightmare experience you could think of. Seriously… Finding a good hair stylist is so tough! Stumbled upon this gem thanks to Unilocal.The photos are what really drew me in. Booked a cut with Elisa and I am ecstatic with the results. Elisa is everything you want in a stylist. Funny, charming, attentive and extremely talented. Love love love her!

I followed Elisa from Grasshopper to Project XO Salon, because she is — honestly — the best stylist I have ever had. When I decided to grow my hair out I was not looking forward to the awkward in-​between stages, but Elisa has made it look great every step of the way and helpfully gives me a bang trim in between cuts so I can keep it growing without looking shaggy. She also magically brought out the waves/​curls in my hair in a way that I love and (also magically) cut my bangs so that they behave/​lie straight. I have gotten more compliments on my hair since I’ve been going to Elisa than I ever did before. She also did a terrific job this last time with highlights, something I don’t typically do, but they came out exactly as I was hoping — very subtle and natural. Elisa is the best!

Followed Melissa here from Adollup Salon after so many amazing haircuts and balayage highlights. She always gets it right, and I’ve never had such a consistently good stylist. Never liked a hair coloring or highlighting until she did it!
The salon is also a perfect location, cute, and chill.

Hung is an artist. He also actually cares about his creation (s) and the health of your hair. His color lasts longer than others I have tried due to his technique — other stylists in both Berlin and NC complimented me on «whomever had done my color» before while I was traveling and not able to make it to Hung. ON top of that, he is simply a good person.

I’ve been going to Elisa for years. She’s great and gives amazing head massages. Actually my wife and I both go to her. My hair is always on point. Thanks Elisa!

Elisa is amazing. She is extremely talented. She has mostly been doing cuts for me, and most of the time it’s been my inverted bob, but she has seen me through several different lengths and done color too. She is great – does just what I ask for and keeps me stylin.

I would follow Hung to the edges of the world…
He is a master at what he does, and you can tell he takes great pride in making sure each hair is perfectly cut.
I trust him fully and would go with any suggestion he makes, because in the end I always leave feeling fabulous. I lived in SF for 5 years and went through countless different salons before finding Hung (grasshopper, cowboys and angels, etc.)
I would never go to anyone else as long as I live in this City (and maybe even after I move).
If you want an incredible haircut (he is great with layers), then this is your spot.
If you wanna look ratchet, then keep looking.

I have curly hair and searched for the right stylist for 8 years in SF before finding him. He is stuck with me for life! :)
He considers the shape of my face, the length, looked at my cheekbones, eyes and chin to create the best cut for me. He explained my hair to me for the first time.
He’s professional, talented, stylish, mature, fun, grounded– he’s everything you’d want your hair stylist to be. He knows what he’s doing and he’s a great person. He’s simply the best. A class act.
He also inspires me by opening his own salon. It’s a beautiful space.

Just like some of the reviewers below, I too have followed Hung through several salons and the better part of a decade. He rescued a really fucked up haircut I had in 2004 and has been taking care of me since, including doing my hair for my wedding (I went so far as to hire a separate hair and makeup artist for my bridesmaids and mom because I didn’t want to share him HAHA).
As a matter of fact, I think pretty much ever since we met he has taken full creative direction of my hair, which after my sparkling personality is the next thing everyone who meets me tends to compliment. Now you guys know my secret. Seriously, the last time I was responsible for my own hair I ended up with blue bangs (WTF, right?). Hung has chosen every haircut I’ve had since I was 24 and we’re all better for it.
So proud that he’s opened up his very own spot. I mean it almost goes without saying that I would follow him anywhere — but I’m really happy about his new location, which is BART-​accessible (2 ½ blocks from Civic Center BART) and has good parking on the weekends!
He’s the best of the best. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

My relationship with Hung is the longest I’ve had with any man (including my husband) since moving to the Bay Area over 10 years ago. After trying a few different stylists, I found Hung and have been unwaveringly loyal to him ever since. I, too, followed him from Grasshopper to Adollup and now to his own salon (yay!) Project XO.
Hung’s technique, education, and style sense are top notch. But that’s just the beginning. He makes an effort to get to know you – your lifestyle, job, schedule, daily hair routine – and customizes a style that perfectly suits not only your hair type, face, and features, but your own ability/​commitment to maintaining it. He’s entertained my various phases over the years (long waves, short and choppy, «mod» fringe, even, er, pink hair) and always given me a style that looks great both when I take the time to do my hair or when I just wash, scrunch in some product, and air dry. His color work is gorgeous, too – and it lasts. He knows that being busy, I sometimes wait a little too long to come back in for a touch up, and uses a technique that continues to look beautiful and stylish as it grows out. Over the years, I’ve gotten so many compliments on my hair, even by other hair professionals!

I’ve been going to Hung for 5 years now and have followed him from Grasshopper salon to Adollup and now to Project XO. He’s absolutely worth it!
He invests his time in learning the latest techniques in London and all over the world. He’s on top of all the latest hair trends!
More recently he’s using this super cool new highlighting technique that I’m really loving. Also amazing with hair extensions (using real human hair that matches your natural color)!! One if he few ppl inSF that does hair extensions right.
Can’t wait to visit hung again!
