What a wonderful store that brings a smile to your face the minute you enter. As a San Francisco resident it’s a lot of fun to spend a day on Pier 39 browsing like a tourist and Puppets on the Pier is always the place to start as you’re guaranteed a very wide selection, excellent service and a jolly atmosphere. One of the things that is easiest to forget is that we were all children once. With a visit to this emporium you’ll be transported back to those days and if you’re someone like me who still hasn’t grown up then you’ll be hard pressed to leave in a hurry! It’s time to have some fun!

Very small shop. I walked in and saw Lamb Chop right off. So I exclaimed«Lamb Chop!» The shop clerk said«Who is Lamb Chop?» I mean really, if you’re going to sell the darn things, you should know what the characters are that you’re selling. Anyway, nice quality puppets. All of them seem child size. I couldn’t get my hand in a single one of them. Lots of finger puppets, too.

I’ve never bought anything from these folks, but have shopped here many times over the years. The prices are what keep me from buying, but the puppets are what keep me coming back. I remember coming here several years ago and shoving my hand into an old man puppet and putting on a full-on puppet show in the place. That’s what they do – puppets light up our imagination and help us create. Nothing but the fondest of memories of that experience. I was just here a few days ago, and again, loved the creativity. Stuffed to the gills with finger puppets, full puppets, and marionettes. Adorable stuff. A little too rich for my blood(and what’s a near-40-year-old to do with a bunch of puppets?) but still always on my radar when touristing about on Pier 39.

We were shopping around and decided to head into this establishment since we bought our baby some puppets for when he gets older and thought we might add to his collection. We found some cool Sesame St. finger puppets. We asked the man behind the counter how much they cost. $ 11. More than what we’d pay for three inch puppets. So we put Grover back, and the clerk SCOFFED at us. As we were leaving I kindly said, «Bye,» and he completely ignored me. I guess if we weren’t shelling out the cash, he wasn’t interested in being civil. He left a bad taste in my mouth for our entire pier experience. No one wants to be laughed at for having their priorities straight. I might have gone back there in the future if it turned out my son wanted more puppets, but not now.

Only giving one star because my girls do like their puppets they chose and bought with their own money. Giving a(very rare for me) low rating because the woman(SAYS she is the owner) who checked us out was so totally rude. My daughter was paying with a few of her dollars in change and needed a couple extra bucks so I threw in a $ 20…bottom line is the change she was supposed to give for mixed up and she shorted me $ 0.50. Not a huge deal, right? …but she was so rude about it and just kept talking over me instead of listening. I just don’t tolerate crappy and rude customer service and won’t be going there again. Unfortunately my review probably won’t matter because of their location, they’ll continue to get business.

First time experience. I discovered this place from roaming around Fisherman’s Wharf. Normally I wouldn’t suggest going to Fisherman’s Wharf, just because it can be like the Las Vegas strip. Busy, crowded and just plain annoying. But this little shop is worth visiting. Especially if you like puppets. Most of the puppets may be on the expensive side(to some people) but it’s still worth picking something up. I bought this very cool Portuguese Water Dog puppet. My dog loves it as he thinks it’s a real dog. Owner is very nice.

Adorable teeny shop in the Pier 39 shops. Lots of puppets hanging everywhere in all shapes and sizes. Couldn’t resist coming in to peek. Not to mention it was freezing outside! Great gift ideas for the little ones!

This is the best puppet store ever. They got great Folkmanis puppets. I know its somewhat expensive but well made. I don’t like human puppets but I love the stuff animal puppets. My favorite is the Timber Wolf. Love going in there everytime I’m in Pier 39. I’ll be coming back pretty soon. Great place for kids and all puppet lovers. If anybody is looking for a puppet, this is the place to go.

Diminutive store stuffed to the rafters with all sorts of puppets. Because I love puppets and I now have a granddaughter, I just had to go in and see what I could find. Two people in the store and you have a crowd so be sure to go on a week day, very early, if you want to spend time browsing. I bought a white rabbit in tophat puppet for my granddaughter. Or, so I said. It’s for me too.

Good if you like puppets and stuffed animals. A little pricey, but they are good-quality and the service is friendly.

This place is sooooo cool, never seen so many puppets in one room. and puppets that wont give me nightmares. man there are a lot of those creepy looking puppets out there and there are none of those in here. They even have Where the wild things Are puppets, and also puppets for ventriloquists, you know moving mouths and stuff. Soft puppets though, none of those creepy wood dummies. I wonder if they would be able to make a puppet that looked like me~ that would be fun to play with haha.

I came here with my little companion because she happens to love Sesame Street characters. She fell in love with Ernie, Big Bird, and Elmo. How can you not fall in love with this place and not feel like a kid again? It made me feel like a kid again and I just loved looking at all the different characters and it made me want to play… come here and you’ll leave with a great big smile on your face…

I LOVE Puppets on the Pier even though I am no longer a preschool teacher or a parent of a young child. The«kid» in me will forever be in love with puppets and their stuffed(aka«plush») animal cousins. Puppets on the Pier has finger puppets; glove puppets(a whole story with all the characters on a glove); marionettes; small, medium and large animal puppets from the cute – kitty cats and dogs to not as cute but love-able skunks, insects, dinosaurs, etc. Their gooey-eyed looks all say, «Please take me home!» I was good I only took a small basket of kittens and some finger puppets(for gifts, yeah…right?) It is a small shop but filled to the rafters. It was a little sad to see some folks falling in love with the puppets and then exclaiming, «Oh I wish I had a kid at home to give this to.» Hellooooo — -it is okay to get it for yourself. Even a large puppet is less than what most people spend on lattes in one week. But thank goodness I am a perpetual kid who reallllllllyyyy appreciates stores like this. This store is made for kids like me!
