I loved my experience at Reincarnation on my trip to SF so much that I’m writing this review a week later from Los Angeles. If you’re looking at the jewelry, take the time to go through the overwhelming amount of stuff. I ended up with a mystic topaz that I LOVE. I used to sell jewelry, so I can tell you that the prices on green amethysts(my favorite) were good. The man who was running things was eager to please. When a ring didn’t fit me, he told me where I could get it resized for $ 10, and told me he’d knock $ 10 off the price of the ring because of having to get it resized. Will go back next time I’m in town.

I NEVER write bad reviews… but I really hope no one makes the mistake I did and gets ripped off by this dude. The owner sold me an expensive«crystal»($ 50) which melted and turned to mush when I rinsed it off. He told me to soak it in water to clean it, so this certainly shouldn’t have happened. I went straight back to the store and asked for an even swap for one that would last longer 15 minutes and he refused and yelled at me to get out of the store. Real sweet guy. I also paid $ 45 for a «gold plated» chain which rusted in a week. The owner better hope reincarnation ISN’T real cuz he’ll likely come back as a cockroach.

Tons, almost too much, beautiful jewelry. All handcrafted stuff with exotic stones and intricate detailed silver, etc.

I feel very compelled to take the time and write this review to dispel the false impression that previous reviewers create of this being a decent shop run by nice people. The people who run this shop, at least the man, is shamelessly dishonest. I called in to check if they had a certain type of fans which I needed for my costume(it is a key piece so without the fan, the costume is pointless. I described exactly what I am looking for and the man on the phone said they have it and they have many, I asked what color, he said they have all sorts of colors and there are a lot and I need to come in to see. So I bought the fabrics I needed for the costume and had a costume maker start on the outfit. A day later, I left work early, drove from Mountainview in 2 hours of rush hour traffic in order to get to the shop on time, got there to get a blank stare when I asked for the fans. The man told me that he doesn’t carry them. I told him that I called to make sure he has them and he first pretended he didn’t know what I was talking about then when I started recounting the details of our conversation, he said that he had only had 3 and they were sold, then he immediately proceeded to sell me on other things in the shop. So I don’t know if he just lied about the fact that they had so many of them or whether he lied about whether the store had them at all, just to get me in the store. Either way, it was completely dishonest and bad business practice, and who knows what else they are dishonest about?! Beyond the fact that he really wasted my time and ruined things for me, I just don’t support this kind of misleading customers and shady business practice. SHAMEONYOU!

I’ve only been to Reincarnation twice, the 1st time I purchased long, black peasant skirt for a belly dancing recital. Fast forward 3 years and I came in looking for a hippie-esque cloth shoulder bag. I found a really cool one from Bali for less than $ 30 and ended up also buying a Tibetan jade necklace for like $ 30 – 35.The gentleman working here is so nice and explains the history and area behind the products. If I had an unlimited budget, I would end up spending thousands on really cool jewelry, wallhangings, and clothes. Great store!!!

Funky hipster dude and overly enthusiastic chick were extremely knowledgeable and a bit aggressive in telling me discounts, reductions, and opinions on which skirt I should get. But, sometimes, you just have to go to Reincarnations. They had awesome bellydance bras with sparkly coins swaying and tinkling(nods)(on sale for $ 19!!) — no zils, though — really good flaring skirts with a variety of colors and styles. I got my fiancé a sexy thin white Nehru collar(yum). I think their major claim to fame for me is quality jewelry at reasonable prices. I usually buy jewelry in Chinatown… but if on Haight… I go to Reincarnations. The dude knows his stuff, but backs off fine if I’m not in the mood to be sold.

Reincarnation is a great little store with BEAUTIFUL boho/hippie chic accessories and clothes. There is a vast collection of necklaces, bracelets, and rings with varying stones(which the owner is a PRO on the stones and their attributes). There are beautiful hand sewn purses and scarves, and even a small selection of cute home décor! And for all you belly dancers out there, great selection of belly dance costume accessories: bindis, silk coin hip scarves(green, pink, yellow, blue: mostly bright colors), simple coin belts in gold and silver, and cute tribal style flared pants with attached skirts. + free incense with purchase :)

What a wonderful store! The man working there was very friendly and helpful, and chatted with me for a while about the jewelry and he knew a lot about all the various stones. Beautiful merchandise — everything from bags, purses, colorful garments, and a fantastic selection of jewelry. Lots of different incense, too, which apparently comes free with purchase.

I love the clothes and jewelry they have. A great place to shop when you want something different and out of the ordinary. Another great place to buy something special for that special someone!

I’m a definite fan now after returning to the Haight in search of more earrings. I am a picky, picky person when it comes to clothes, accessories, etc of any sort, which is really annoying when something wears out, is torn or lost because I have to search for something that catches my eye all over again. After a series of moves some of my favorite pieces of jewelry have been lost to time and I just had not find anything in the downtown shops that I felt were worth spending money on. But then I remembered the pink moonstone earrings I bought from Reincarnation, and the fact I skew towards the hippy-dippy/Tibetan/mystic/blah blah aesthetic in general made me wonder why I was wasting my time at these other places. So a return trip to Reincarnation yielded a beautiful pair of silver and pearl filigree earrings that I think are absolutely gorgeous and unique. There were on sale(yay!) and got more free incense. I saw several other pieces in the store that caught my eye, but I seriously could’ve been there for hours looking at all of the jewelry alone. Got great service again, the man who I believe runs the place is really kind and pleasant and knowledgeable about all of the pieces in the store. I’m not going to bother adding updates to this review, but just assume I’ll be a repeat customer and my excursions to the Haight will be less rare from now on.

Reincarnation sells some really beautiful items, and they have great sales. The first time I stepped in the store, I admired a hand-sewn purse, but didn’t purchase it. I came back a few months later, and settled on that very same purse… paid $ 28 for it, and part of the handbag ripped the next day. I was quite disappointed… though I realize that certain things may be more fragile, but still… nevertheless, I would shop here again, just probably not for a purse.

I needed sari for our Indian theme dinner party, so i went to Reincarnation. my sari was only $ 35! i got a men’s shirt for $ 29 also. i thought i had to go to Berkeley to get a sari, so i was so glad i could find a beautiful sari here. They also offered me a box of incense, but i didn’t take it as i already have a couple of boxes of incense i don’t even use.

When I want to find a new piece of jewelry I like to go to Reincarnation. The last time I went they had a sale of 20% off. The necklace I wanted was $ 65, but they gave it to me for $ 45 and a free box of incense to boot. Free incense you say? Yes, they know how to keep their customers :) I really like turquoise and they have a lot of very pretty earrings and necklaces made out of it. It’s all really pretty… actually, one just needs to find what looks best on them!
