Walk into this emporium of cool and be prepared to get that salivating, must-​have, it’s-so-yummy-I want-​my-​life-​to-​look-​like-​this feeling. This store is a very quirky mash-​up of vintage haute couture and old school collectibles — always changing but on my recent visit there was a cocktail fountain with jewel-​bright cocktail glasses, a bishop’s coat from way back when and place settings for a zillion in this retro-​modern silver leaf pattern along with some contemporary stuff like zany feather-​weight silk scarves and songbird shaped candles and coral reef-​patterned metal serving bowls. The owner knows everything there is to know about every piece and her sense of style makes you want her to come and redesign your life. Still and all, it’s the vintage clothing for both men and women that sends me around the bend. A big basket of vintage ties, Jean Paul Gaultier dresses and — check it out — blazers from 1960’s TV talk show host Merv Griffin’s closet, with his tailor’s notes inside the breast pocket «Merv Griffin, 1970». No foolin’ — these jackets alone are worth the trip.
