Rose is nice and I received a perfectly fine men’s haircut for $ 10.

Since moving into the neighborhood, I’ve been on a keen lookout for a salon that does good ladies’ style cuts at a reasonable price. First, I tried Gacela’s, which is an absolute bargain for $ 15 a cut, but tends to get very busy. I was tempted by Anna’s(where my husband goes), but it seemed to cater more for caballeros y ninos(ie. more basic cuts for the boys in the family). Finally, I’ve found one that fits the bill — Rose! Rose and Cristina are very friendly and both welcome you into their small salon. The Christian motivational posters and homely décor make it feel more like a trip to your auntie’s house, which is a nice change from the sterile artsyness or sterile generic-ness of newer places. On the afternoon I went, I didn’t have to wait, as Cristina was ready to see me at the time we arranged. She was happy to see a picture of the cut I wanted and got to work with no fuss, only stopping occasionally to ask for feedback. The whole wash, cut and blow-dry was a very relaxing experience. Cristina also used a ghd straightener and lovely hair products to finish off the look. The damage — only $ 20, plus tip. All up, I love my new mod bob and would be very happy to make this my regular salon.

Unilocal steered me wrong. I tried this place out to get a trim after reading the 5 star reviews, and received the worst, most uneven, weirdly cut hair of all time. I was actually embarrassed to walk down the street after this. I should have asked for Rose I guess, because the woman who cut my hair today did not seem to know what she was doing at all. I can’t even begin to explain what my head looks like now, but I will have to get it fixed by a professional tomorrow. She actually cut layers underneath, as well as messy layers on top that are completely unblended and stick out like fly-aways. And to begin the haircut, I said«I like it shorter in the back, and longer in the front,» which she misunderstood, and went ahead and cut a huge lock of hair from the front of my mane. I actually teared up after I left the shop. Oh, and amazingly one side of my hair is longer than the other. She kept measuring it incorrectly the entire time she cut my hair… I wonder if she can see well. I’m so pissed. Don’t go here. Even if Rose is a good stylist, she shouldn’t have someone like this holding scissors at her shop.

I have been here twice, once to get a hair cut, and just today to get my hair colored, and I must say Rose knows what she’s doing! I have been looking for a long long time a stylist that I can trust to do my hair right, and it’s taken me years to finally find Rose. She was recommended to me by one of my very close friends. I finally decided to try out this lady Rose that she always had such good things to say about, and she was absolutely right. Rose did such a great job on my hair today, I have never been happier about the way my hair looks. Her salon is small and very intimate. She is the only stylist so her attention is all on you. Prices are very good for the quality of work she does. Two thumbs up for Rose!
