Ruby Peak Recruiting

It took me two hours getting to my appointment with this company today (brand new to SF) and met with one of their recruiters who was so condescending and refused to let me walk through my resume with his constant interruptions. He literally told me I need to think about my career choice! Are you kidding me?! I’ve worked my way up over the last six years only to have someone tell me that? Not sure why he thought he could talk to me in that way. Also, one of the first things he said to me (three times!) was «you’re not telling me something,» like I’m lying to him! I’ve contracted in the past so he couldn’t see why someone would want to do that. Well let me tell you why someone would want to contract, YOU GET A HIGHER WAGE WITHOUT HAVING TO DEAL WITH OFFICE POLITICS! You also get to have a better work/​life balance! 40% of the workforce at my company were on contracts! I pride myself on honesty and integrity so anyone who would make me feel like I’m lying loses my respect. Call any of my former bosses and you will soon discover I have nothing to hide! They will ALL tell you I kick ass at my job. I’m still floored he wouldn’t give me a chance to explain. I’ve literally never dealt with someone so fake before in my life!

I had a great experience with Ruby Peak Recruiting. After moving from the Midwest, I started with the Craigslist search, where I found a position that seemed to be a perfect fit. Two days after I applied I was brought in for the initial interview. Ethan was very polite, direct and provided me with eight different opportunities in the Bay Area. He really listened to my expectations and aligned them with the positions he saw fit. I met with David briefly, who was a bit apathetic and impersonal, but got the info from me he needed. Ethan gave me some time to decide on what positions I wanted to apply for after doing my own research. I was offered an interview within a week at a very prestigious company. Ethan coached me through an intensive interview process with a client he seemed to know well. He also made emphatic suggestions to my resume to tailor it to the client for success. We connected after each interview and he provided very beneficial feedback. I was offered the position and am very thankful to Ruby Peak for making the match. They are very professional, responsive and do well by their clients and applicants.

I was contracted through their service to get «my foot in the door» at a uprising tech company… They are a recruiting agency and will say and do anything to get you to show up at their clients job site. After 4 months of quality work I was «let go» because the position was no longer needed. From my experience with ruby peak I will definitely stay away from recruiters.
If you are job hungry, they may have some interesting position but beware this is a recruiting agency and will say anything for you to fulfill in their quota.

Ethan was super helpful throughout the interviewing process. He helped me fill in some essential gaps with regards to my resume and what a company looks for in a candidate. He coached me all the way through — end to finish — recapping areas where I could do better to take my interviewing skills to a higher level. I think working with recruiters in general is a team effort — I’m glad Ethan was on my side. I wouldn’t solely rely on the recruiter to match me with a company and secure me the job position. Job searching — especially in the Bay Area — is an uphill battle and it takes a lot of patience and persistence plus timing to get the job you want. Don’t give up and always stay positive!

I have used Ruby Peak’s placement services twice now in the past 8 months, and want to give them a raving review.
When I moved here from the East Coast 8 months ago, I found them through Craigslist and when in for an in-​person meeting with David Goldman. He got me a month long temp job at a great company in the city. It was the perfect fit for that point in time.
After trying out a few other opportunities (not through David) after that initial temp job with him, I ended up back with David again, seeking his help — and regretting leaving that first job where he placed me.
As a newbie to the Bay Area, I found all of David’s advice, job counsel, and even feedback about this area to be honest and accurate (unfortunately, it came after bad experience following other recruiter situations).
During my most recent search with him, he gave me interviews at a few different companies that were highly respectable and for solid jobs. He always has fought for me. I can tell he did his absolute best to get me into interviews for great jobs, then would fight on my behalf to help place me there.
Since moving here I have worked with a large number of recruiters in the area (15+), more than I can even count, but David Goldman and his team stand out as the cream of the crop.
Some of the other local recruiting folks were able to get me jobs that were rough at best and with terrible employers. David refuses to work with any employers who are going to provide that kind of work environment for his candidates.
Trust David for your recruiting search. I recommend him highly and count him at the top of my list if I ever have to search again in the Bay for another position.

My first time working with a recruiter and I’m beyond impressed! Professional, thorough, mindful of what I was looking for as well as their clients, and found me a job within weeks! I cannot recommend Ruby Peak and their staff enough.

BEWARE. I had one interview and that was it. They advertise jobs but where are they? Another incompetent lousy agency.

This recruiting agency is a joke. They call or email me every few years because of my resume on CL with jobs that don’t exist, thinking I’m stupid enough to come in for yet another cattle-​call «interview». I had no issue telling them to get lost and permanently remove my contact information from their files, as most recruiters in SF are a flat-​out joke, anyway. Stay away!

I’m shocked to read that people think half of these reviews are written by friends of the company.
I moved back to the Bay Area after living in southern california for many years and needed to find a job. Working with David and his team was an absolutely wonderful experience. At my initial meeting with David at the Ruby Peak office, I found him to be extremely direct, honest, personable, and he was able to help me really organize my own thoughts about the kind of job I wanted/​was looking for. He was able to immediately set me up with a number of interviews and responded to any questions I had via phone, text, or email within the hour. He remembered every interview I had set up and called me before to prep me, and would email me afterwards asking how it went. David is absolutely amazing at his job.
I’ve also had a few interactions with Tony and Jazmine and they are both amazing as well. Super helpful and nice.

Excellent recruiting company that has extremely courteous and professional services. After moving to the Bay Area I was looking for some sort of income in a professional office environment and their recruiter Tony was helpful, friendly and incredibly on point from our very first interaction. They have good contacts with many tech companies and he was able to place me in a temp position for a very interesting company for some experience.
I highly recommend working with them. It was a pleasure to work with Ruby Peak and I will definitely maintain an ongoing relationship with the company. Thanks Tony and Ruby Peak!!!

I disliked working with this company the most.
The initial interview with them went well and I got submitted to two positions in two different companies. Eventually, I got interviews with both.
For my first interview, I had a short interview prep phone call with my recruiter.
Then I went to my interview.
The feedback during my interview was that I was too qualified and would be bored. It was an Executive Assistant/​Office Manager position and during my interview I talked about my past jobs having Executive Assistant/​Project Coordination/​Office Management duties. My recruiter sounded irritated that I talked about my Project Coordinator experience and told me I should have just focused on Admin. Honestly, that would have been hard since one of my role was titled «Project Coordinator» and it was where I learned the most about multitasking and completing projects from beginning to end. I’ve only progressed since that role in abilities. Also, the job description he sent me said «heavy project management.» I was pissed he sent me to a role that wasn’t as challenging as I had asked in my initial interview. If anything, I felt he oversold me on the job.
Anyways, he didn’t call me for a bit and I didn’t call either because I really disliked him. I didn’t care I didn’t get that job and wasn’t a fit for them. His job was to find them someone that fit them. I shouldn’t be admonished for representing my full experience and abilities. I don’t even know how representing my «project coordinator» experience would make me «overqualify» for a job with «heavy project management» opportunities.
Then, out of the blue, the other company he had submitted me for wanted to interview me because a candidate they picked declined and they had to start again. I took the interview because it was LGBT related and that was a dream. I went to two rounds. The recruiter asked to prep me for both rounds and for me to make time before both interviews for coaching. Guess what? He never called. After the first time he didn’t call, I didn’t expect him to call the second — AND HE DIDN’T. After my second interview, I wanted to withdraw. It took me a day or two to decide that and I thought hard about it. He kept contacting me after the second interview while I was still thinking.
I didn’t feel I took that long to decide and when I did, I emailed him right away.
It was an unpleasant experience. I felt he was easy to give up on me after interviewing «overqualified» and a jerk to schedule prep calls that he didn’t care enough to make happen. Plus, I never got a feedback call from my first interview. This was my least stressful job search and had it been stressful, working with him would have made it worst.

Typical recruiting firm that does the bait-​and-​switch by bringing you in for an interview, but not for the job you applied for. It’s shady. They then try to «sell» other opportunities. I also think they bring in candidates as an exercise.
The recruiter I met seemed like an amateur and had no personality. Total waste of time.

David Goldman of Ruby Peak is truly something special in the recruiting business: REAL! He’s a class act, straight shooter, über skilled and knowledgeable about this business, a passionate and thoughtful negotiator and all around great guy.
I had been working with David for a while via Los Angeles, where there were extremely limited opportunities. However, during that time he took an astute deliberate approach to help me hone in on the perfect fit for when I was ready, willing and able to move to San Fran. So as soon as I got here, he had 5 interviews lined up, with both direct hire and temp positions, and within a week (yes a week!) I had a fabulous job offer.
In short, without the help of his entire team, I would not be where I am today. If I hadn’t gotten an offer, I was assured that there would be plenty of temp opportunities to keep me going until the full-​time offer came… and I trust that would have most certainly been the case. I implore anyone needing to land substantive opportunities, call David and the Team at Ruby Peak. You will not be sorry.

I haven’t reviewed many things on Unilocal because, well, I just never got into it. However, my interaction with Ethan at Ruby Peak has been so out of this world, that I have to offer my recommendation.
During my first meeting with Ethan, he challenged me by asking tough, out-​of-​the-​box questions that my extensive job search had not prepared me for. He pushed me to be the best candidate I could be, which no other recruiter I’d worked with really seemed to do. He was quick on his feet, thorough, and respectful… And was the only recruiter I’d worked with who didn’t stop paying attention to me after mentioning that I don’t have a degree. I was very impressed!
It wasn’t long at all before Ethan had me interviewing with a very respectable tech company. He was supportive, informational, and never dropped the ball when it came to follow-​up or checking in. Sure enough, I got the job and he continued to follow up and offer his help even after I was hired.
If you’re looking for a recruiter/​company who really responds to your needs, has your best interest in mind, and gives you a fair shot… Ethan at Ruby Peak is your guy.

Terrible place! I met with one of their few recruiters and made feel like CRAP because I don’t have a degree! Give me a break. I have all the experience I need for the job and he treated me like CRAP! Really, you hire recruiters like that? Good Bye!

If you are looking for a career, David is the recruiter you want to work with. He takes care in listening to your needs and wants as a job seeker and really strives to place you in a position at a company that is a good fit for your skills as well as personality.
David took the time to fine tune my resume with me to gear it towards what hiring managers are looking for. He has great connections within the industry and got me interviews at sought after companies — organizations that would not have considered me based on my resume alone. He gives great interviewing tips and takes time to prepare you for interviews.
He is quick with responses and feedback and will always be honest with you. I ended up getting a job offer on my own and when I told David about it he encouraged me to take it. This is the kind of recruiter that you want to be working for you — someone with your best interest at heart, not just their bottom line.
It is evident that David and his team are hard working and great at what they do. When the time comes that I feel that I’m in the market for a change, David will be my first and only call!

Wow what a waste of time! I had a suspicion that this was going to be a fruitless endeavor when I saw the size of their office :/.
I interviewed w Trish who was great in the interview but. Never once called to follow up. I’ve called twice to check in but can’t seem to get a returned phone call.
For the record, I have 5+ yrs of exec assist experience and would have been perfect for a position they told me about.
I met David briefly, I wasn’t impressed. He seemed rushed and inconvenienced to talk w me.

David and Trish have been awesome this 3^rd time working with Ruby Peak. David spends the time I think is necessary to prep you for interviews. He really knows his clients and what they want.
Trish is super happy, positive, and great to work with. She definitely keeps on top of it. Checking in weekly and making sure she’s got leads coming to you.
All their prepping and hard with, combined with my resume and interviewing skills landed me a great contract job which I start next week.
I would definitely recommend the team at Ruby Peak. They are a great group of people and will do all they can to help you find a job.

Ruby Peak Recruiting, like a lot of employment agencies, used to call my old firm every couple of months to check in to see if we needed any temp or perm help, We never needed any assistance, but appreciated it that they would keep in touch and were so pleasant.
Last year one of their recruiters contacted me via her manager’s, David Goldman’s account on LinkedIn. She (or he) wanted to know if I was interested in a specific position. I replied quickly and told them that I was happy in my current role, and thanked them for thinking of me. I also told them I’d be in touch if my situation changed.
Well, my situation has changed, and I contacted them via LinkedIn several weeks ago to let them know I was available and would like to meet with them regarding my job search.
You know what? Not a peep was heard from them. Nada. Nothing. Nyet.
That’s what I call unprofessional. And that’s why they will remain a third-​rate agency at best, with a roster of unknown clients and fake ads.
