It’s one of my favorites spots in the city for Turkish cuisine. I’ve been going here for many years and the food and service is consistently great. They have a great menu and some of my favorite dishes includes the shawarma wrap, the kebab plate and the falafel plate. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I’ve been coming to this Turkish establishment for almost 10 years, I will rate it 5 starts mostly for the food. The Wild caught grilled Salmon done to perfection and was oh so fresh! I would recommend it to any seafood fan out there! My husband had the rotisserie lamb steak and admitted it to be the best he has ever had. We ended up dinner with hot Turkish tea with Cardamom, service was friendly & fast.

Super rude guy behind the counter(the cook i believe), dumps our order at a distant table expecting us to go pick our food(WEIRD!). Pretty looking lady at the counter cannot understand what we want to order, everything had to be repeated like 5 times, and the rude cook guy is belching out some wise cracks from behind her. Super expensive average food with limited portions and drab looking interiors, not worth the three and half stars. Will never make the mistake of going here again.(Is there an option for less than a single star?)

Definitely one of the better Mediterranean food places in SoMa/FiDi. Their shawerma wrap is absolutely delicious!

The food was quite tasty but the portion size for the lamb was kind of sparse. Excellent falafel balls. Fast delivery time. Would consider ordering again.

What a treat! I took a group for lunch here after a volunteer event and we had a blast. The food was very fresh, delicately spiced with generous servings, you could tell they use good ingredients, the menu suited a broad range of taste preferences, dietary styles. The service was quite quick. The wait staff were friendly and helpful — one of our group had a disability that needed special accommodation that was graciously taken care of without asking. There were cushy pillows on the end lining the wall„ music add to the ambience. We had such a good time that we sat and chatted after the meal without feeling hustled to leave. Definitely worthy of many repeat visits. My only regret was not sampling the desserts.

What can I say? Delivery was late. Food was cold. Hummus was runny. Bulgar was actually couscous and $ 6 for canned olives. Really? Avoid. Put them out of business. Please. I beg you. Wow. How about sorry that we were late, the food was excrement and we charged you a lot of $ to eat poo? Sorry sir. Here’s a refund. No. I’ll pull myself together. You’re right, scam artist.

Food was OK but pricy. Falafel was bit dry. Ambiance was nice. The owner was quite brusk, bordering on rude.

I work near by and love to grab a healthy, delicious lunch here! My go-to’s are the fattoush salad, lentil soup and/or the falafel plate. Kind service, good atmosphere. They have happy hour too, which is a plus for us that work in the area!

I decided to write another review on Saffron 685. I’ve been eating here for 7+ years and I love it. They have an extensive menu, most of which I have tried. The food is always fresh and tasty! And it is inexpensive. A win, win, win! I’ve been for casual sit-down dinners in their cozy dining area or take-away falafel wraps… I recommend either :)

Pros: family owned Cons: tiny portions, slow With just a bit of focus on speeding things up at the register and adding value, would have been great.

I tried to give this place a second chance because it’s so close to my work and other Unilocal reviews seem to only rave, but it is beyond mediocre and ridiculously overpriced for the quality. In full honesty, I’ve only ordered pick up for lunch, so it might be better dining in or at dinner, but the two times I’ve done it, food was cold and not that appetizing, service was lackluster, and the price was astronomical. You do get a lot of food, but $ 16 for a schawerma plate that tastes worse than what I get from a street cart is just ridiculous. The most recent time, they forgot part of my order and they weren’t apologetic when I called and accused me of never ordering the missing items. Since I was ordering for a staff lunch, it was very embarrassing that they couldn’t get my order right and that the restaurant tried to blame me for the snafu. Would not suggest for work events as their food apparently cools instantly and they are not willing to assist you when they get your order wrong. EDIT! Management was very upset that I said the food was cold. So let me rephrase, I guess it is served piping hot and then cools within the 10 minutes it takes me to get back to the office. Food cools very quickly :) In terms of food, the only thing I liked here were the fries and baklava and everything else was below average.(They change up the sides a lot which means it’s a crap-shoot if you’ll get something you like or not). EDIT!: While they do switch up the sides, apparently you can request different salad sides to your plate. EDIT! Due to the cattiness of the management, I will not be back, especially because I am apparently banned from them now for being unhappy LOL. But I’m sure if you don’t cross them or if you don’t care about service, you’ll have an ok time here. God forbid if they forget something in your order and you complain about that though, because that apparently was all my fault and I am not welcome there anymore. Good thing I didn’t want to come back :)

Stumbled upon this Turkish place in a hungry stupor, and decided to give it a try(after all, Mediterranean places are a dime a dozen on this city). The location is okay, albeit a difficult to find and kind of off the beaten track. The interior is nice and spacious. There was no one in when I came. I wanted to get the salmon kebab, but at $ 17, I didn’t think I wanted to spend that amount and get annoyed if it wasn’t good. I chose to go with the meza sampler instead, opting for falafel, hummus, and dolma. The hummus is probably some of the best I’ve had in the city(for some reason, this city can’t get hummus right!!). The falafel was cooked to perfection and the tahini sauce really hit the spot. The dolmas were also delicious. Of course, I couldn’t resist the homemade baklava. SO.DELISH. Nice, flaky, and soft in all the right places. Some reviews indicated that customer service was lacking, however I feel that a part of this is cultural. With that said, I didn’t find the lone employee to be rude in the least bit, but that could be left up to interpretation. Pros: –good hummus –nice selection of options –homemade baklava(enough said) Cons: –a bit inconvenient to find(there’s street parking and a closed garage, but otherwise it’s a bit hard to find this place). –some items are a bit overpriced in my opinion

(Upped to 2 stars since he took the time and care to respond to my original review) The food was good, but the 1 star rating is not a mistake. Having good food is not enough. You need customer service, and I mean average people skills here. I’ve seen better customer service at McDonald’s at 3am than during prime lunch hours here. We walked in, nobody welcomed us. We were sitting at the table for 5 minutes before we decided that we may have to order at the counter. The man(owner/manager) was rude anytime on multiple occasions, and there was simply no reason for it. A coworker of mine echoed the same sentiment about this place. He experienced rude service for no reason. Very off-putting. Maybe worth it for take-out only, but I even still I won’t be back because I’m too proud/stubborn. There are enough of other places in this city, just go somewhere else.

UPDATE: The crazy owner/manager offers me a free meal via nessage and when I ignore his offer, he accuses me of being a delivery person who is not allowed to use his restrooms! LOL ordered for pick up the other night and found the food to be decent, however the manager/owner working was just plain rude and cold blooded! I came in to pick up my order and I politely asked if I could use the restroom(and this is after I had paid for my food) I am told that the plumbing in the bathroom(s) is not working and he walks away… I notice a man coming out from the back area OBVIOUSLY from the working bathroom. SERIOUSLY?

The best thing about this place was that we walked in around 2:45pm, well after lunch hours, and the owner welcomed us in with open hours. We were practically the only ones in there. The shawarma platter was phenomenal, and so were the dolmas. Hummus was decent — I’ve had better, but the combo with everything else made the whole meal absolutely delicious

Great spot for delicious, fresh, flavorful Mediterranean food. I’ve been coming here for years now and have found the food quality to be consistent and service friendly. I love the lamb and chicken kabob plates, and my husband likes the veggie mezze plate. And the baklava is so yummy!

This restaurant is near my work, so it’s a convenient place to go to for lunch. It’s a small-ish place with a cozy Mediterranean environment. I’ve been here a few times already, and the food is good, albeit perhaps a bit pricey for what you get. I’m a fan of the shawarma plate since you basically get a taste of everything. On a cold day, the spicy hot chocolate is a nice way to finish off :) The service is friendly sometimes, but inconsistent. Also, it’s probably not a place to go for a quick lunch — but definitely a nice environment if you have the time to stay and chill for a while.

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost a year; since my office moved across the street. I have had many of the items on the menu and I am never disappointed. I love the chicken Kebab plate, my ultimate favorite. The chicken is perfectly seasoned and the rice is grainy and fluffy. I usually get the bean salad with it. I find the combination of flavors light very pleasing. I come to Saffron twice a week, some times more. I can simply sit down in the cozy area near the back with all the couches and have a beer. In this place I am known and the service I receive is like I was walking into my family member’s own house. When I want to get away from my office for an hour I go to Saffron and enjoy the awesome tunes always playing. I highly recommend it for a group of people or by yourself. This is truly Mediterranean cuisine at its best. Love it! See you there — K

Food is absolutely delicious! I had the chicken kebab plate which came with hummus pita and salad. Food is definitely 4 stars however price is pretty expensive I spent a little over $ 18 on lunch pretty pricey if you ask me and especially when there really wasn’t a lot of chicken on the kebabs but taste was on point! The reason I am only giving 3 stars is because the place was pretty dead and it was awkward to order no one really greeted me I kinda shuffled around the counter finally asking to order something then I sat down at a table and waited for my food. The guy wasn’t rude or anything but not very friendly either I honestly felt so awkward sitting there eating by myself and was wishing I took the food to go.
