This is one of the 2 Vietnamese restaurants on San Bruno. My family and I usually got here as a default since their Vietnamese food is typically acceptable and not horrible. However, today Saigon bbq completely disappointed me. I order 2 orders of spring rolls and all I got was a a lazy and lousy wrapped spring rolls with hardly any meat and small nuggets tuck in between. On top of waiting over 30 minutes for these things. I was left speechless as I have never brought such a sorry looking spring rolls in my life. Sorry to say but I could of wrapped this better myself. You can see my uploaded pictures for yourself. If I were you, I would think twice before wasting my money here

Every single time I stay over at my friend’s place in San Bruno area, I come here the next day to get food. Usually it’s either banh mi sandwiches or their chicken phở. I also always seem to crave the garlic noodles. Price wise, it’s relatively inexpensive at under $ 10 a person. Food is quite tasty and the chicken phở always hits the spot. It’s not overly full of sodium and the small size is quite big. I almost mistakenly thought it was a large. Their menu is quite diverse and I tried the fish curry and it was better than expected. The curry sauce was great especially when chewing the crispy skin off the swai fish. They renovated since the last time I came and the counter moved to the front of the store rather than the back. There’s two bathrooms in the back. The crowd varies and usually it’s not crowded. I never had to wait for a table but I also tend to come at odd hours.

More than 70% ice in the large cane juice, don’t waste your money in this restaurant.

This place is great if you’re looking for some phở in the San Bruno Ave area of San Francisco. Saigon BBQ has an awesome phở menu for meat lovers and vegetarians. The staff is always attentive and the food always delicious.

If you’ve read any of my other phở reviews, you’ll know I love Phở No. 1, but that I do try other phở places, to benchmark and make sure I’m not missing anything. I tried this place not long after it opened, fearing I was becoming too much of a creature of habit by ALWAYS going to Phở No. 1. I wasn’t missing anything. No matter how much of the fixins I asked for, to augment my phở ga, and no matter how much sriracha and fish sauce I used, I couldn’t get my soup to be interesting or tasty. It was just so bland. That visit was probably well over a year ago now, and we haven’t been back. Phở No. 1 is just a block north, and worth walking a few extra steps(and no, I’m not on their payroll :-)).

You have to visit this place!!! Im a Culinary Student at Le Cordon Bleu and all my Vietnamese friends says that Saigon BBQ is the best or the best when it comes to AUTHENTIC Vietnamese. From what I have tasted and heard I concur. I would say it’s in my top 5 favorite restaurants in the bay area. I drive once a week all the way from Sausalito to San Bruno(45min) just to indulge in this phenomenal Vietnamese cuisine.

Saigon BBQ is a gem to San Bruno Ave. They have a wide variety of foods that can suit mostly anyones taste. My personal favorite is quite simple, the Viet Sandwich(chicken or pork). My housemates and I all agree that Saigon BBQ is our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood and dine/order out regularly.

I live 5 minutes from this location. I always order the chicken phở, it’s my favorite. Fast service and friendly staff. The food is delicious here but sometimes the meat portion on phone like little chicken leg. Meaning they barely add any meat. Overall: 4 stars.

I ordered bbq pork over rice and it was pretty good. It could of had more meat lol. Also, the to-go container cracked when I tried to open it, super cheap brittle plastic. Luckily, it didn’t get in my food. Good in a pinch if I’m lazy in the neighborhood.

Very good Vietnamese food. If I lived closer(I live in downtown), I would come here more often. Anything you order here you can’t go wrong. I usually come for the garlic noodle with shrimp. Price is average Service is attentive Crowd: varies Food: excellent!!! Oh, I am not into Phở so I am not rating this place based on their phở.

My friend ordered takeout for me tonight and I have to say that it was disappointing. I ordered grilled shrimp with garlic noodle . The garlic noodle did not taste like garlic noodle, was just an oily mess. I also received only 3 shrimps in my order .n they were inedible, hard and rock with shrimp poop still attached. I’ve posted pictures. Though I only ate a few bites of food, I had a stomache right after and went #2 twice tonight.

Mediocre phở. Large menu with a variety of items and super cheap prices but the phở is pretty flavorless. I ordered the Sp1 and it was very blah. Not much flavor even after adding a ton of hot sauce and stuff to it. Popcorn chicken was decent. Not much to say about this place other than the food was bland and not very memorable. Probably wouldn’t come here again. Side note they have a giant goldfish in the tank by the front. It looks like it has a large brain or an Afro. It was the most interesting thing about this place.

On second thought, meh. Bad service, mediocre quality, and super long wait to get a banh mi sandwiches. The lack of English speaking servers is also quite problematic, especially when they get your order wrong twice, causing you to wait 45 minutes for 3 small sandwiches. I’d probably still come here since it’s just right down the street from me, but definitely like it less.

Amazed by how much varieties of food they have. First time coming here I was not impressed. Food came out sooo slow and they did not make my bun rieu right at ALLL!!! It came with egg noodles, and there was no crab at all! Like 0 crabs. For $ 9 it is not worth it at all. Won’t be coming back. The other phở place next door is muchh better and cheaper too!

$ 3.50 Bahn Mi that is unbelievably delicious. That in itself earned 4 stars. Unfortunately, I don’t think much of the rest of the food or service. Before I ordered the bahn mi, I ordered the grilled pork plate, which was a tad disappointing. The two grilled pork chops were very thin and had quite a bit of bone in it, which meant by the end of the dish, I was basically just eating white rice. My girlfriend ordered the phở with lean flank and meatballs, but there were only 3 slices of flank and one meatball that was chopped into quarters. The cutlery, bowls, and cups all seemed like they were kind of dirty, and I definitely wish they would have washed it. They also don’t serve you water unless you ask for it, which they kindly have on a sign. I found that to be extremely ridiculous, especially considering that I saw employees dumping multiple pitchers of water into the fish tank to keep their one fish alive. Ridiculous. Just another example of mismanagement of priorities… To be fair, the food tastes pretty good. The grilled pork plate I got was really really tasty even if the portions were small. The phở, reportedly, was also pretty good. And the bahn mi… yeah, that was awesome. However, the prices aren’t justified and the place is kind of a dump. The only thing I really would ever bother getting is the bahn mi, so with that, I’m gonna have to give it a 3 star. The bahn mi though… that’s a 4 star. So I’ll definitely come back again for that.

I could’ve sworn… I heard almost everyone working here, talking in Cantonese? Hahahah… Service was adequate and fast! Food well… keepin it realzzz here… the Bun Bo Hue(#18 Spicy Vietnamese Noodles $ 8.95) was really greasy, and lacking the ox penis. The Bun Xao(A7 — Vietnamese Crepes $ 5.95) portion was huge which was nice. They even used huge prawns instead of mini shrimps. Unfortunately, that too was greasy and soggy. It lacked the crusty, lightness you’ll find in solid Bun Xao. The surprise however, came from their Broken Rice with Short Ribs(#36 — Korean BBQ $ 7.75). It was actually pretty good, and portion was not bad either. Pricing on most of their dishes was also reasonable. All three dishes totaled to about $ 25 with tax. The ambience was clean and modern with adequate lightning. If you are dining alone, there are several seats up front facing the street. There were also dedicated tables for Hot Pot dining that can seat six, comfortably! With several options of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I may have to think twice about coming back anytime soon. However, I certainly would not rule Saigon BBQ out completely, at least for now. I will give them another try and see if their recipe will use less grease, and more robust flavoring. Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Saigon BBQ is a new restaurant in the Vistacion/Bay shore district of San Francisco. The set up is a little odd, they sell coffee and lotto tickets at the counter while functioning as a Vietnamese establishment. The tables have a built-in hot plate for certain dishes, and the standard Phở utensil carousel(chop sticks, soup spoons, hoisin sauce, sirracha, etc.). The menu has spring rolls, imperial rolls along with Phở and Vermicelli bowls. The food is great, fresh vegetables and herbs in the Vermicelli bowl. The fish sauce is strong yet it holds up to the chili and soy sauce attack you’re about to provide. I want to give this place a higher rating, 4⁄5 on the food relative to the price. The service is about 2 stars, once you get your food they tend to drift off and forget about you. Great prices, very good food, but show up with an empty stomach and some patience.

Place looks modern and clean, they sell super lotto and scratchers at the front counter. I came here real quick for a banh mi because I have been having these cravings all week. I’m weird like that, when I crave something, I eat it for a week until I get sick of it. I got the combination banh mi for $ 3.50 which is alright. It didn’t really blow my mind, just your standard Vietnamese sandwich with pâté, pickled daikon, carrots, jalepenos, and cilantro. They have hot pot here with electric stoves built into the table. I may come back to try that one day!

Passed by this place while looking for parking and decided to give this place a try. Their menu is quite extensive with both all-you-can-eat hot pot to phở, rice plates and banh mi. A few tables were doing hot pot. It appears to include a good variety of offerings. We decided to stick with individual entrees. I tried the bun Bo hue, spicy beef noodle soup. It was quite tasty and included fancy pork and pork blood. I’m not one to like pork blood so I put those aside. Can’t wait to come back and try other items.
