This location is closed! Not even a good bye note. How will I get closure? One of the rare places I could get a meal under $ 10 in this area. The staff here was super friendly. I guess I will try to move on. sniff sniff

My egg salad sandwich was edible, but only once I added two or three of my own ingredients. The tiny blob of egg salad and piece of lettuce wasn’t gonna cut it on its own. To be fair, it was only a few bucks.

Not gonna lie, I thought this meal was gonna be a total crapper. Let’s be real here, «San Francisco Soup Company,» how touristy and generic can you get? We were on the hunt for soup and soup they do have. My sick friend/colleague(we really need to come up with a hybrid word for that) ordered up the quart of ramen which she was into. I however opted for the pre-made cobb salad. No fresh salad or sandwich making here, only packaged to go. The kind lady at the register did offer to mix it up for me, which was nice! No outside seating in this little lunch time corridor(a bunch of little deli’s, salad/sammy spots in a little alley), but a few tables inside. The salad was good in that generic kind of way. It was big and filled with chicken, bacon, cheese; all the usual cobb salad suspects. They offered up a free roll which was stale and not great, so I’d forgo that, although it’s free. Jonesing for soup? This ain’t a bad option and has some options for everyone. I probably wouldn’t rush back here, but again if someone was really needing some hot broth in their life, I’d revisit.

I go here every now and then for lunch. They have really fresh and good soups. One of my favorites is the Mexican chicken tortilla soup. I have also had their chicken noodle soup which is good as well, but I feel it a bit salty. They have a good variety of vegetarian soups as well, I like the smoky split pea.

I always get the Mary’s soup and do not mind paying the $ 6.80. Today the soup was just liquid and a few tiny pieces of chicken with noodles. Not sure about going here anymore, I mean, seriously, chicken is inexpensive and to get basically liquid is uncool.

My favorite«everyday» spot to grab lunch. Tasty and nutritious. Dropped my weight by more than 20%(reaching and maintaining my goal weight) by pairing soup and salad(no bread) for lunch and checking the nutrition info on the website to select apropos soups. Good variety; never get bored. Rotating specials help, though they can run out if you get there too late.

I eat here every day. Crushin’ that split pea soup. I wouldn’t bother with the sandwiches. They move people through this place. Staff is very friendly, and there is often reggaeton blasting out of the back. Go-to place.

Well let me start of by saying I loved the soup company. I would go there 2 – 3 times a week(since it’s right opposite my office) and get a salad and soup. So I will tell you about my most recent experience at the soup company, I go there get a tomato bisque(my fav) and I get the classic Cobb salad(who dosnt like Cobb salad), and take it to work and boast in front of my colleagues that this is the best Cobb salad I’ve eaten. But this time while I was enjoying and bragging abt the salad. I found why the salad was so tasty. They have a secret ingredient. I am sure you guys wanna know what it is if you’ve read till here. There was a dead fly in there and maybe someone’s feces in the salad. No wonder the salad was so tasty. The thing that pisses me off the most was when I went back to them to demand an answer the manager comes out and asks me do u want another salad or a refund. I didn’t want either. I wanted an apology and an undertaking from the manager that he will take care of it that it dosnt happen again. Cause I am sure there are tons of people who would not like the special ingredient(the fly). But anyway I got a refund and that’s the last money I have spent there.

Uninterested staff if you come 15 – 20 mins before closing time. At least, that was my one and only experience here.

I was never a huge soup fan. Not. at. all. I only ate soup when i was sick so I am pretty sure that had something to do with it. That, and drink tea. Yuck. No thanks. Pass. Ok, fast forward many years and i begrudgingly try soup from SF Soup co. and it was not horrid. My boss is a fan of the soup which pretty much makes me a fan of the soup since I grab his lunch and mine then head back to the office.(don’t tell HR) anywhooooooooo… i was late to signing up for the daily soup special emails like by years.geez. Little did i know that you win a free soup that way! i never claimed to be smart. The location that is nearest to my place of business doesnt have the salad bar where they make you a to order salad which is kind of a bummer, but Thania promised me that it will happen. I am a fan of their salads too. Especially the thai chicken one. Back to soups though… i do have some favorites and they do not contain dairy but i hear the ones with dairy are good too. I’ll never know. If you look at the menu it tells you if its gluten free, low fat, vegetarian etc etc. So that is really nice. The people are really nice here too and they play cumbia alot. :)

For whatever reason, I haven’t eaten at the soup company until just recently, having always had my soup at other non-chain places. One of my favorite soups in SF is the clam chowder in sourdough bread available at Boudin, so I figured I’d go for that here as well. Since we were eating at the office, I got it to go, and although at first I thought I’d have to forgo the sourdough bowl for this, they wrapped it up separately and put it in my bag. I was really happy to learn this little trick enabled me to get sourdough bowls to go, as obvious as this should have been to begin with. The sourdough bowl was great, pouring soup into it from the to go container was a breeze too. It was when i actually started eating it that the problem started. Something about the clam chowder didn’t feel like it was clam at all. It felt like generic cream of _x__soup with an overload of pieces of meat and potatoes, a rendition of clam chowder that I was neither aware nor fond of. It was still pretty good soup by itself, and It was easy to finish the entirety of the(large) soup, but I couldn’t help but feel cheated out of my clam chowder. I’ve heard a lot of their other soups are great though, so I might do a review again when I get a chance to try that.

Good place if you know you want soup. The only one I know I like is the chicken noodle. Chicken noodle is good, classic, can’t go wrong. The special chicken with wild rice and mushroom I tried tasted a little bit too wild for me. Like it reminded me of rabbit food. I’m not kidding… And all the other soups I have tried and can’t remember we’re kind of disappointing. So I stick with chicken noodle. Anyway. Good place for some soup on a cold day, but I wouldn’t come here otherwise.

I love to eat soup. I make my own soup all the time, but rarely do i eat it at lunch. I snapped up a Groupon recently for $ 5 that entitled me to $ 10 to spend here. I selected the tomato bisque and half a turkey sandwich for my lunch last week. The soup was fantastic — rich, creamy and tangy. My sandwich was not as successful, mainly due to the massive pieces of sourdough that were used. I opted to toss the bread and just ate the filling, which worked perfectly. I am planning on going again since I am dying to try their crab chowder. mmmmm…crab.

I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I eat at San Francisco Soup Company almost every week day. I go online and check the ingredients and nutritional information of every soup before I eat it, mostly just to build up the anticipation. I’m signed up for their daily soup email newsletters and cross my fingers every day that I’ll be a Free Soup Winner. I don’t know why I haven’t bought a reusable bowl yet. I’m obsessed. My favorite of their signature soups is the Mexican Chicken Tortilla. Throw in a little hot sauce with that soup, and BOOM, you have a satisfying, relatively healthy, soul-warming meal. Other amazing soups I’ve enjoyed there include: Turkey Chili; Shiitake Mushroom, Chicken, and Bok Choy; BBQ Pork and Blacked Eyed Pea; Black Bean Chicken Chorizo; Chili Verde with Pork; Grilled Chicken & Artichoke with Sun-dried Tomatoes; Chicken Arrabiatta; White Bean Chicken Chili. THIS particular location is awesome because the people are super friendly and they’re good at keeping the lines moving. Keep up the good work, guys!

Came here picked up a thai chicken salad. The people that work here were great(but I was only picking up a salad). The sauce they have for the thai chicken salad is pretty bomb and the salad bowl is HUGEEEE. It was definitely two servings worth, they really pack in those veggies. You also get a piece of sourdough bread for the order. Pretty good salad option in my opinion, it’s nothing special, but it’s qiuick and cheap.

Its decent soup. If you work in the area and are in need of warming up during lunch then stop by. In my experience the specialty soups of the day are always better than the standard offering, but they also tend to sell-out quickly. The real specialty of this location is the staff. For example, Kay is probably one of the most positive people I have met on Howard Street. While I understand that her recommendations may just be an effort to sell sandwiches and salads with the soup, her approach is warm and her attitude goes hand in hand with the comfort food you’re there to buy.

Especially good when you are sick– otherwise it’s over-salted and often too creamy the rest of the time. Looks like great soup isn’t scalable, as this has really gone downhill as they’ve grown. Overpriced at the $ 7 price point. Great staff though, and excellent bread.

Good soup. And bread, and a few other things. I’ve been looking at their nutrition numbers on their web site, and I’ve noticed that calorie counters need to know in advance what they’re eating. I’ve picked up some good tasting soups, to discover later that I ate more calories(starch/corn, etc) than I expected. Nevertheless, it’s better than a sandwich. 2 can eat here for under $ 14, and a table in the sunshine is a happy bonus.

I love soup. I signed up for the Soup Company’s daily email, so they send me what’s on the menu for the day. I am tempted from morning until lunch. Fortunately I work by 4 different locations so I can get what I like. I used to order the Chicken Tortilla or Split Pea all the time, but lately it’s been a new soup each time I go. The Creole Crab and Corn soup with rice is amazing and very filling. Today I had the Italian Wedding soup, which was really good too. In addition to my soup, I had a half of a turkey sandwich. It was a pretty filling and delicious lunch for under $ 7.00.
