Civic Center recycling service — what could be better.
Since many are a jumpin on the green /​recycle /​reuse /​reclaim /​re-​whatever bandwagon… this be a great resource center.
Lots of info and services.
Highly recommend a visit, and take advantage of their services.

When my office wanted to get rid of the leftover paint from our move into a new office, I thought about going out and painting the town various shades of terra cotta. I then decided I am already an underpaid Receptionist who would much prefer painting the town just about any other color, and used Unilocal to find a paint recycling center.
You should know that there are actually some decent options in this city for hazardous waste disposal, but this place was closer to my work than many of them and they seem to take all kinds of waste (in case I need to dispose of anything else).
There are specific days when they accept items and it’s only during a few hours of the day, but the person I talked to from SF Environment was really helpful in setting up an appointment for drop-​off.
Things to know if you want to recycle paint:
They only accept 27 gallons at a time, so don’t roll up there with a UHaul full of paint cans and start unloading.
They prefer cash or check if it’s your first time dumping
If you are recycling paint from your home, there are other free pick-​up services that will take care of it for you — SF Environment lists these services on their website

SUCH a great place to get your green on, 21^st century style!
After putting in some plants, I wanted to recycle a bunch of nursery pots. The garbage company’s «official recycling site» is not helpful — and as interactive as a cardboard box. Not shocking. So then I find THIS website and they have a cool little search widget that lets you type in what you want to get rid of and your ZIP code and… boomshakalaka, I got my answer! The site also has tons of interesting info on the city’s recycling policies, what you can do to help and more. Super website. Click it, cricket!

On a more useful note,
is a website which directs residents to numerous vendors. These vendors in turn, take care of the things we usually dump into trashcans unnecessarily: used cooking grease, batteries, old appliances, even paint.
Let’s keep our city just as it is– with lulls of fog, a few sunny days here and there.
I think recycling is sexy. Don’t you?
