Getting a little old for Halloween but still want to do something fun? Dress up and do the SF Mad Dash. It’s a short 3 mile jog that results in good food, great music and a fun atmosphere. I popped my marathon cherry with this one and I am so glad it was my first. I knew this would be the one for me. I wanted something that would be fun and that wouldn’t be too intimidating. The weather was spectacular and the location was beautiful. It was just the perfect day! I ended up finishing 166th out 212 girls. 3 miles in 48 minutes. Which for me, is AMAZING! Staff was great and it seemed pretty organized. I really liked that we were able to get a Groupon for only $ 15. That was the way to go. I am glad my money went to a good cause. For $ 15 I got to run a great race, a water bottle, a full sized energy bar, an apple, and some great coupons. All in all, it was a great event that I hope continues on. The perfect excuse to dress up and work out. A few gripes I had that prevented them from getting 5 stars: –Wasn’t particularly thrilled with the food truck choices that were there. I would have liked a healthier option after just running 3 miles. Adam’s Grub was WAY too spicy on a hot day and Frozen Khusterd was just a generic form of ice cream. Give us the real thing!(½ a star off for this because it was really about the race and no so much the vendors.) –On their website they advertised that we would get a goody bag and a t-shirt but when I got to the event t-shirts were actually $ 10. I was disappointed that we weren’t given a t-shirt considering that some people paid $ 30. I thought most marathons give you t-shirts. It was just odd. Then again, I guess I’ve never been to a marathon before but I do know that the Nike Women’s Race is like $ 110 but you get all this free stuff. I thought your money goes to all the goodies. Oh well it went to a great cause. I can’t wait to go next year and my goal will be to run it in 30 minutes. See you next year guys!
