Shelley Diamond is insightful, kind, compassionate, smart as hell and really devoted to the individual’s journey towards growth and wellbeing. She understands trauma both personally and conceptually. She is responsive and empathetic. Importantly for me, she recognizes and supports her clients’ strength and resilience(especially when they can’t see or feel it yet). She makes a point of drawing attention to the positive aspects of a client’s actions in life, their coping strategies and skill sets as well as their other personal qualities and values. She has flexible fees for people who are struggling to pay out of pocket for therapy. She is curious and very well-read. She is constantly reading and researching materials that might be of use to her clients– if you need more resources to understand what you’re going through, she’ll be able to guide you to something that will help. One of my favorite aspects of Shelley’s therapeutic approach is her ability to balance playfulness and laughter with the other serious parts of her work. I could laugh or cry with her and she was along for the ride, accepting and supportive and attuned to my needs. Match between clients and therapist is the biggest contributor to success in therapy other than what the client themselves are bringing to the table. No therapist is right for everyone, or expert in every issue. But for me, Shelley was a godsend when I was falling apart at the seams and didn’t understand why or what I could do to get better. My process of therapy with her changed my life and now I’m living a more authentic, integrated and hopeful existence. I can’t say enough about this wonderful woman. A generous, intelligent, loving and special soul.

Horrible therapist. We went to her for marriage counseling and she actually ENCOURAGED my spouse, right in front of me, to file for divorce. Told me I just have to deal with it. She was WORSE than no therapy at all, she was actually damaging.
