Sixth Course

Unfortunately I have a 4 year old daughter and 60 year old father with similar palates and a company credit card within walking distance of this establishment. I am stuck with the weekend shift and a decision to either buy lunch or dessert and usually lose out to the later. Great place to indulge in culinary level desserts in the midst one of the last frontiers of SF gentrafication.
With all kidding aside, these folks have excellent product, are locally raised (SFUSD survivors), and socially conscious about both the development and cultural preservation side of the inner Mission agenda. They have been a great addition to the neighborhood and a breath of fresh air to the stagnant tail end of San Francisco’s auto row.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING DESSERTS! This place is quietly tucked away on a side street in the Mission area so it doesn’t get as much foot traffic as other desserts places, but the desserts here are simply amazing. They have 3 huge displayed filled with unique desserts. One has uniquely flavored popsicles, one has beautiful chocolate truffles, and the last just has a wide variety of regular desserts.
We ended up getting one pumpkin pie popsicle and one butterscotch pot de crème. The pumpkin pie popsicle was definitely unique and good for a one-​time try, but my favorite was definitely the butterscotch pot de crème. Every bite felt like a bit of heaven and my mouth still waters thinking about it.
Can’t wait to go back!

Delicious! Got the chocolate brownie biscuit thing and gelato panini with Apple compote. The panini tasted like baked Chinese pork bun but with ice cream in it, that was just ok. The brownie biscuit thing was amazing silky smooth mouse goodness in your mouth, heaven

…happened upon «sixth course» (15^th @ natoma)…what a beautiful store, incredible display /​supply of top shelf desserts and an owner /​chef, gianina serrano, that exuded welcome, smart, savvy, & friendly, better than most any shop owner i’ve ever experienced…
…3 display cabinets… one for humidity control… one refrigerated… and one at –10 degrees… omg…feast for the eyes, too…
…can’t wait to support her endeavor some more… ok, more truth, i can’t wait to taste something else besides the spectacular thing-​a-​ma-​bob i had yesterday… chocolate liqueur, white chocolate mousse-​covered, chocolate-​chip, chocolate brownie, with gold-​leaf on top…
…the phone is off the hook as i remain in proverbial heaven…

Review on their desert cups, cakes and gelato. Very expensive IMO for such a small portions got inside at 5:58pm. Placed our (5) orders and we were done by 6:03pm. Took us longer to find parking than to eat our deserts. Headed to bobo guys and Mitchell’s ice cream immediately thereafter to satisfy our sugar fix. I recommend candybar or Cheesecake Factory.

Dessert heaven. Is my first impression about this place. They had almost everything from cakes to tarts and truffles! I wanted everything in the shop. But I had to limit myself. I can’t wait to try them all, we got the triple chocolate and the salted caramel. Everyone was super nice when you step in. Can’t wait to try their other goodies.

We ordered 2 desserts: November (Gluten free) and one other one which I forgot the name. They were both ~$ 7/​one. I wasn’t too impressed with the dessert but they do have a open kitchen in the back and seating area.

Sixth Course is like a to-​go dessert bar. They have truffles, caramels, ice cream bars, tarts, puddings, and more. Everything is pretty, small, and cute. The main showcase displays their truffles. The truffles are good but comparatively not the best in the city. The technical presentation of the truffles could be tighter. Truffle flavors are on the exotic/​adventurous side, ranging from tea infusions to beer and champagne flavors.
The chocolate pudding dessert, I forget what it’s called, is really good. Just know that all the desserts are on the smaller side. While a little pricey it’s still very affordable and reasonable.
The packaging for all of the desserts is Etsy-​ish. Like handmade but not premium. If you’re trying to buy a gift to impress someone who has high luxury standards I wouldn’t come here. Sixth Course is a great spot for couples or friends to come in and indulge together. The experience of the store and looking at all the desserts on display is half the fun.

This place had my sweet tooth tingling for a while. I finally had the opportunity to visit a few months ago and it’s remaining in my bookmarks because I definitely need to come back soon to try their gelato bars.
They’ve got an amazing selection of hand-​made truffles with unique flavors, which are made in small batches to ensure freshness. I wanted to try the passion fruit habanero truffle, but it was sold out. If you see it available, try it because its one of their most popular flavors.
They also offer mini mousse cakes, verrines, tarts and gelato, made from only high quality, sustainable ingredients, hence the hefty price tag for all their tiny confections :/​
I got to try the vindaloo curry and honey & fennel pollen truffles, which were boxed in eco-​friendly packaging. Both truffles were highly aromatic and had distinctive flavors that didn’t get lost in their rich chocolate encasing. I also got to try the Amaretti mini mousse cake and s’mores pot de crème. The amaretti was creamy, airy and rich in almond and chocolate flavor – it was a luxurious experience. The tiny cream puff on top was a bonus. The s’mores pot de crème tasted exactly like the traditional campfire treat stuffed into a glass container. Toasted marshmallow and graham cracker.

What a perfect name for a great dessert place. We had a 5 course meal at a restaurant prior and we were looking for a place to have dessert. Parking was tough and took about 20 minutes to find parking on the street. The neighborhood is not that safe so I suggest you don’t walk on your own. This place is a hole in the wall type place from the outside.
But wow, once inside, it has the most amazing display of chocolate and desserts you could imagine. Inside also has a really cool view of the kitchen. We ordered a mango dessert and a strawberry one. We loved it! It had just the right amount of sweetness. If your in the area, I highly recommend to try this place.

SERVICE:
Upon arrival we we greeted by one of the co-​owners who apparently used to work at b. patisserie! She was really friendly and helped us decided on what to get.
SWEETS:
They sell decadent cakes, chocolate covered gelato pops and truffles. We ordered 3 cakes ($ 6 each) and 1 pop. All were heavenly. They were so pretty I didn’t want to eat them: not overly sweet or heavy. All the flavors described were there. My favorite of the 3 cakes was the tiramisu — one of the best I’ve had!
AMBIANCE:
It is located in a hidden street by mission and parking is not too terrible. There is limited seating inside. The interior is very bright and extremely clean. The place gives off a modern vibe, just like their desserts do.
I will be coming back to try their other cakes, whenever I’m in the area!

Everything I tried was so lovely… To look at and to eat. The sweet treats are extremely well done in quality and presentation.
I had a coffee gelato pop and the chai pot. Both were very rich and full of flavor. Even the ice coffee my dad got was good! My only complaint, I wish it was bigger because it was so good! In all seriousness, the sizes were actually perfect.
The way the truffles/​chocolates, and other desserts were presented in the store was so beautiful. The woman that helped us was very very nice and friendly. It is kind of out of the way… But you need to go and try it!
I would definitely return.

I’d definitely advise you to walk out of your way for it. The further you walk, the more treats you deserve, right?
It’s a pretty special little desert experience heave got tucked away out here. You have to go in just to check out the different flavours of truffles. You might want to choose a few in a box to go, but it’s a nice place to sit with a drink too.

Please, go here. My friends and I were looking for a place to get dessert after dinner, and this place showed up. I see the pictures, and I was hooked.
Truffles! Yes, please!
They have about twenty five different kinds at a given time, and they are all random and fun flavors — like Sage and Brown Butter, Armaretto, Smoked Salted Caramel, 72%, Curry, and Porter Beer. They are $ 2 each, but if you buy 15 or more, it’s a tad but cheaper.
They have other desserts as well: ice cream bars, bars, jarred desserts like s’mores and panna cotta.
We got truffles and a Choconut Bar, which looks so rich, but it was perfect! The coconut was fantastic, and you could actually taste it. It didn’t taste like a fake coconut flavor either.
ALL of it = AMAZING!
I would definitely recommend this place. There’s a window where you can look in to see what they’re making next! It’s quite cool.

I’m all for a 6^th course.
Their location seems a bit random on a block where you would never suspect a fine dessert place would set up shop. Once you step in, you take notice how minimalistic the décor is. It resembled nothing like what one would envision a typical dessert shop to look like.
I did like that you can view right into their kitchen at the bar seating. The desserts are all displayed in their glass counter and they’ll package it up individually into boxes for you. The experience almost felt more like you were buying a watch or jewelry behind a case rather than picking up a semifreddo.
The type of dessert here is what you might expect to get after a fine dinner. In my opinion many of the desserts look a bit too precious to eat just lounging at home in your sweats when your sweet tooth strikes. But I’ll say they were extremely delightful and best eaten in-​store (if you can find a vacant bar seating as there aren’t many) or as soon as possible. As in, tear into it immediately as soon as you get back in your car which is the route we took.
Sure, I’ll come back.

After dinner, we decided to take an über to Sixth Course. I’ve had this place bookmarked since the day they opened in October 2014 so to try it many months later, I was extremely excited! Our Über dropped us off on 15^th and Mission right in front of SF Armory. The minute we got off the car, someone approached us for money. It’s not in the best neighborhood and we were LOST trying to get to this place because our stupid walking directions on GPS kept luring us into the SF ARMORY of all places! Ugh, we just wanted dessert and not a tour of the Kink factory.
I finally called Sixth Course and the kind lady told me exactly where they were located so we ran on over. Upon walking in, all the craziness of SF just swept away and it was as if we were transported to the most amazing dessert land you can imagine. They have truffles, individual cakes and gelato pops, cookies and candy bars. Um HEAVEN! We were so happy.
I ordered the berry cheesecake. It was one of the most amazing desserts I’ve had to date. It made me all kinds of happy. The ladies I was with ordered the smores cup and the other a chocolate type of cake. They loved it.
I also ordered a box of 6 truffles to take home and they were just as delicious. I am dreaming about the day I return here. Another cool feature is that you can watch the amazing chefs create the wonderful desserts in the kitchen. Amazing, just amazing I tell you. Definitely check it out if you’re in the area. And if not, I think it’s still worth a drive for one of their unique desserts. The service was amazing as well. So worth it.

Imagine stepping into a sixth dimensional world of flavors that transform your every thought on sweets. Oh gosh… this probably sounds like I’m high to the new generation… STOP IT KIDS, DON’T DO DRUGS. Although… this could be a new sort of dessert drug ;p

Neapolitan $ 6: Strawberry mousse, vanilla cremeux, chocolate cake, chocolate water crisp. literally dessert from another dimension.
SF Parks & Recs $ 10: chocolate raspberry mousse, raspberry confit, chocolate sponge cake, pâté sablee, raspberry ganache, chocolate «soil & rocks», pansies & elder flowers. Looks insanely real. Like a garden you would find at a park. EVERYTHING is edible on this thing. I think it was a bit too much chocolate for my own liking. but nonetheless delicious.
Lemon Raspberry Semifreddo $ 6: Lemon curd cream semifreddo, raspberry confit, vanilla sponge cake. It was pretty interesting kick of sour with sweet. The texture of this thing is to die for. Although taste did not mix as well as I thought it would.
Berries & Cream $ 6: vanilla crème fraîche mousse, blackberry cremeux, lemon poppyseed cookie under as a crunch. Gluten free. The exterior was thick and rich, the interior cremeux was fruity and light. The balance was unbelievable.
Hazelnut Crunch $ 5: Hazelnut, gelato, hazelnut praline, milk chocolate shell. Popsicle of heaven. Literally like crunch on the outside nutella on the inside. The inside was extremely creamy.

Grand mariner: sour super rich
Rose: creamy inside with a semi gel like center. Very strong rose taste.
Hazelnut praline: reminds me of nutella… with crunch. very good.
Coffee& dulce de leche: Not a coffee person at all but it wasn’t too strong and it did not put me off. It was a magical mix.
Raspberry Cosmopolitan: probably the least favorite one. It was overly sweet, but still a great combo of white chocolate and raspberry
Earl Grey: dark chocolates are not my thing. i shouldve known, but I wanted to try since everyone was raving about it. Wish I was a dark chocolate lover thou.
You can tell the owners of this place are passionate about their work. I can taste their love for sweets through each and every dessert. I’m that super shy fan girl in the corner that secretly wants their autograph every time I come in and see the owners. Is that creepy? LOL I just have a obsession with sweets and people who can make it amazing are people I *heart eyes* to. HAHA

Walking distance from BART 16^th and Mission. The walk from the BART station to the store is not pleasant though. We were so glad when we finally reached 15^th st. The area feels much safer.
I like the cozy ambiance and cool interiors of Sixth Course. It’s a good place to chill while you enjoy your dessert. We sat in front of the open kitchen. It’s nice to witness how they make the beautiful desserts. They have truffles, gelato pops, coffee and mini cakes. We tried Valrhona, Amaretti, and Calamansi. All were really good!

My favorite is the calamansi because I love anything citrusy. It’s sooo good, it should be part of Oprah’s favorite things!
If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a shot! You will not be disappointed. Props to Chef Gina! She’s so talented and super nice!

Ohhh my god this place is so cute and perfect! The one thing I should mention, though, is that there are only 8 counter seats, four on one side of the glass kitchen wall and four on the other. For some reason I thought this was going to be more of a sit-​down dessert place. It worked perfectly fine for my casual friend date though.
We shared the neapolitan «pink death star» and a chocolate cone cake with crispy balls inside. Both were excellent, but especially the neapolitan! Its mix of flavors and textures worked so well. That funny little cake was its own universe of sensations – so beautiful that it was nigh-​painful to spoon into it. Both cakes were $ 6 each, which seemed like a good price. Excellent service too! I’ll definitely be back to try a gelato bar sometime.

SWEET TREAT
6^th course can be 7^th, 8^th, and 9^th for all I care.
Always craving ice cream or dessert or something sweet. Even if means dessert before dinner. The shop is tiny but very cute. Nowhere really to sit except for the three bar stools towards the back. One glass case features all the Gelato on a stick, another features other patisseries, and another features all the chocolates. They all look worthy to try. After first visit here I have become a fan!!!
OFW PANNA COTTA — orange flower water infused panna cotta, satsuma mandarin Gelee, and candid kumquats. Pretty presentation. Served in a mini jar with a wooden spoon tied to the side, it was convenient (and Eco-​friendly). This was yummy but not the best panna cotta I’ve had. The mandarin flavor popped more than the vanilla bean in their panna cotta mix. The candid kumquats were great garnishes to decorate the dish and yummy to eat. Didn’t care too much got the gelee, it was basically a jello layer in the middle of the panna cotta. Recommend.
CARAMEL POPCORN — popcorn infused gelato, Caramelia chocolate. «Gelato on a stick». What a great idea!!! Ohmy ohmy Ohmy. The outer caramel/​chocolate shell holds in the creamy smooth gelato. Every bite into the shell crumbled in the palette and the gelato fills your palette with creamy goodness. I love popcorn so to have the crunch of the popcorn was a nice texture paired with the texture of the gelato. This «gelatos on a stick» will probably their key seller. HIGHLY recommend.
