I had the black bean sauce noodle. To me, it tasted like instant noodle but saucier. The chicken wings was good though.

Really really good food ! Enjoyed every bite of it ! The so black bean noodles were top notch and the string beans with chicken was very tasty as well ! You can opt for either fried egg or scrambled egg for the so black bean noddles! i ordered the fried egg and the combination with the jalapeños were awesome !

SO is so so. For me, the biggest let down was the service. When I visited for dinner, there was only one person serving the entire restaurant. Understandably, it’s not a big shop, but there was a noticeable bottleneck. For example, our water was never refilled despite asking, didn’t get hot sauce until I went up to the counter to ask, etc. I felt bad because our waiter was nice, but he had way too much on his plate to do a good job. Food was decent but not amazing. The highlight was definitely the chicken wings. They were delicious, and I would definitely come back only for those. I had the black bean noodles, which turned out okay. My mom makes much better ones, and I’ve had better at restaurants. My girlfriend ordered the broccoli beef, which looked like it came straight from a food truck. All in all, save the trouble of the bad service and long wait by doing take out. Not worth the pain of getting a table by any means, just enjoy the decently priced food at home :)

Hours were wrong on Unilocal: Showed up at 7:15p on Tues 1⁄12 and it was closed. Like their wings but don’t like being hungry.

Located in probably the most unlikely place to have a modern Chinese restaurant, we somehow ended up here on a random Monday around lunch time. The thing that immediately caught my eye was this little sign at the door that was as real as it gets. Unfortunately, my memory isn’t good enough to quote it, but I believe it said something along the lines of «we do our best to serve everyone to the best of our ability and if you’re hard to please, go somewhere else». Now I have to try the food! Our group of 4 ordered the Chicken wings, Diced chicken, Hot Link fried rice, and SO Black Noodles. The first thing that came out was the diced chicken and they were bomb! I really enjoy the seasoning they use at the this restaurant because it has it’s own kick(everything we ordered was spicy) compared to other restaurants. I can’t even recall the exact taste of everything but all I remember was that everything was delicious. I definitely need to come back here to try other things on the menu. Granted, it did seem a little understaffed and ordering our food /getting cups of water /getting the check took some time. But I’ll let that slide since it was expected from another sign near the door. *The staff was super polite! I totally understand that they were doing everything they could

Love everything I’ve tried here. Wait is long, food is unhealthy, but it’s worth it. You may know this place as having a little sass about its MSG. Trust me that the customers stay anyway. FOOD Favorites include wings(of course!), dried sauteed string beans, shredded pork with garlic, and fried rice. SERVICE&WAIT Slow. Not particularly efficient. On an average night at a normal time, expect 45+ mins of waiting.

SO Good! — Do yourself a favor Tips: Try to come early since this place gets packed. This place can be hard to find since it’s really close to the on ramp of the free way and the sign is not very conspicuous. I’ve been here a couple of times and the quality has been consistent. I usually order the Chicken Wings, Diced Chicken(Boneless), Fried Rice with hotlinks, and the SO Black Noodles. If you’re lazy like me, Get the Dice Chicken!(Get more Chicken Meat!!) it has all the same spice and seasonings as the wings. The wings have such a rich flavor, with a sweet slight hint of tang as well as a good burn on the tongue with each bite. The fried rice with hot links is my favorite carb there because it is very full of flavor and spice. There are so many flavors going on in the that fried rice, it deserves another mention. The SO black noodles were great because the noodles are soft and come with a good amount of that black sauce. The décor of this place is modern with great wood furnishings. If your friends want some delicious wings without going to a hole in the wall, come here.

It is very rare that a restaurant will offer little to no wait, low menu prices, AND convenient parking. Some compare SO’s chicken wings to San Tung. I go to SO when I do not want to drive far to San Tung and do not want to want 1+ hours for some fricken Chinese food. Chinese food should be quick, not something I have to wait over an hour for at 3pm. Their chicken wings are fairly comparable. SO’s other menu items are very delicious, such as their black bean noodles and deep fried hard-boiled egg. Everything is reasonably priced as far as San Francisco prices go.

Went here with a friend to grab a bite to eat in the city. We were before the main dinner rush, so we were able to be seated right away. To start the meal, we decided to go with the fried chicken wings which people have talked about so much. I don’t even like wings, and I have to admit that these were tasty. I am not sure what the exact flavor was, but they came with a nice spice. For the rest of the meal, we decided to go with the shredded pork with garlic and the string beans with beef. The shredded pork with garlic was not a dish I would care to order again. The overall flavor was pretty bland and the ingredients in the dish turned out to be kind of soupy and mushy, which was not very appealing. Needless to say, we left about half of this dish behind. The string beans with beef was better, but still not one of my favorite beef dishes ever. The beans were very good, but I found the beef to be lacking some flavor. Overall, all of the dishes we received were good portion sizes, especially for the price and the service was friendly and attentive. This was a hard decision between 3 and 4 stars for me, but the fact that it was absolutely freezing inside(even with a jacket on) bumped it down.

My boyfriend has been dying to take me to SO and finally the day has come haha. This asian fusion restaurant definitely has their own style in cooking. I was pretty excited to try it and I must try it was pretty good. We ordered the black bean noodles, chicken wings, pot stickers, string beans and spicy combination noodle soup. i must say my favorite was the chicken wings, they were very well fried and tasty. I also enjoyed the string beans, I liked that it had a sweet taste to it. This place is worth a try, I know I’ll come back here soon since my boyfriend is in love with this place. Sometimes they close randomly so make sure you call before you go!

Finally, I found a restaurant in SF that I like! I admit that I’m an LA food snob. Nothing in the bay seemed to make my tastebud burst with happiness until SO restaurant. I guess it’s unfair of me to rate so high of a place even though I’ve only tried three dishes. BUT I’m absolutely addicted to their Chicken Wings! I’m a firm believer that garlic just makes everything taste better so you can imagine why I love these chicken wings that are covered in all garlic. We also ordered the Chipotle Fried Rice, which was another success. I love the bits and pieces of jalapenos — adds a little kick in there. I would skip out on the SO Black Bean Noodle though. After the other two flavorful dishes, this one just couldn’t compete.

This is one of the to go places I go with my coworkers for lunch. I remember the first time having SO was during one of our happy hours when we ordered 2 party trays of their chicken wings. I was immediately in love. Their side orders(wings, beef, fish) all had the same sauce we all love. It contains a mixture of honey, garlic, ginger, onions and a hint of spiciness, very delicious! I am pretty sure all of the other Unilocalers can agree with me. Just look at how 70% of SO’s pictures on Unilocal are their chicken wings! Their main dishes are also great. Here’s a generally rule for SO: the funnier the name of the dish is, the better it tastes. I’ve had their«So what», «Whatever», «I don’t know» and«So Black»(they are all rice/noodles dishes and different meat and vegetables). They all had huge portions and they usually enough for two meals for me. Most of their dishes have a hint of spiciness, you can actually ask them to make it more spicy if you desire(my coworker does it all the time). They tend to over sauce their dishes in my opinion. But if you love your dishes with a lot of sauce then you will definitely love SO.

This place is drool-worthy, no really – I might even kill for some of those amazing fried chicken wings. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever had before(well, in terms of fried chicken wings at other Korean restaurants). This isn’t new news but I’m surprised that SO’s is somewhat of an expansion of San Tung – also famous for its wings, however, San Tung was a one and done for me. SO’s on the other hand, is so incredibly good, I wish I can feast here more often!!! All their dishes were amazing, full of flavor and all the sauces that accompanied the dishes were executed perfectly. Definitely a two-thumbs up for this restaurant, and I’m definitely coming back for more.

The soul food of Asian fusion! This place is spicy and heavy on the juicy sauces. Deep fried Hunan-style fried chicken yes! But did you know that this place also has deep fried beef strips? My friend and I ordered: 1) spicy Asian fried chicken 2) spicy Fried beef strips 3) spicy stir fry vegetable rice plate 4) and beef and string beans rice plate The beef is tender, pounded so it’s easy to chew and savor on your palate. They have rice plates. White rice smothered on top with stir fried vegetables or(what my friend ordered) string beans and beef. Pictures paint a 1,000 words. And the only reason I didn’t take a picture was because my fingers were covered in sauce from the deep fried chicken wings. So now I have to return to take and document the soul food goodness. I recommend getting here early 1130 because they fill up for lunch fast!

This place is SO good. Lol. I bet they’d heard that one before. Anyhow, the food here is damn good. I had their spicy noodles and fried chicken. Both were very flavorful and spicy. Though not as spicy as I’d normally eat my spicy fried chicken(not like Soho Café in Philadelphia spicy). The service is quick and though busy, will keep swinging by to refill your drinks and see if you need anything. Also, it’s quite obvious they don’t give a shit about being pc. They mockingly advertise in Chinglish on their bathroom doors and on the t-shirts they wear. My friend told me that they got media coverage for making their food with MSG but guess what, so does Chick-fil-a and a bunch of other foods that many people eat and love. Just don’t come here all of the time if you’re that concerned or go somewhere else. It gets super busy so it was a good thing when my friend suggested we head over a little before the lunch rush because 30 mins after we got there, the place was packed and there were several groups waiting to be seated. SO is berry good. So berry good. Ok, I’m done here. Parking: Very limited metered street parking Price: $ 7+ Wait: 15 – 30 mins to be seated; 10 – 20 mins after ordering

SO Restaurant actually caught my eye a few months ago when the new outlets were reporting that the chef/owner abruptly closed shop one night because he was unhappy with the customers. Then, he put up a sign that stated, «So… yes we use MSG! So… we don’t believe in organic food. And… don’t give a shit about gluten free.» You do you! It turns out, SO Restaurant is the sister spot to San Tung Chinese Restaurant, so you bet this restaurant serves some delicious Chinese food! And what’s even better, SO Restaurant is located in SOMA, just a 15 – 20 minute walk from Civic Center/Market Street. You don’t even need to take the bus or an Über to Sunset district for those to-die-for wings! — Mapo Tofu with Rice: whoa, spicy! Pretty flavorful, and I’ll be back to try it with the noodles. — Chicken Wings: So. Freaking. Good. The skin is crispy and the meat is juicy. They even taste great as leftovers! — Potstickers: these are huge! One portion has six pieces. I dig the dip, but it’s not necessary since the potstickers themselves are juicy and stand perfectly on their own. Although the restaurant is located in a kind of sketch area, it’s totally worth it to stop by for some good Chinese comfort food. Total came out to be less than $ 30 with tip! Nom, nom, nom. Now I’m craving some of those chicken wings…

I had to eat every single Unilocaly thing here. I came here at 8pm on a Friday and it was surprisingly empty. I was like dafaq? Ive heard this place is small and the wait is super long but I didnt realize the crowds coming more toward 8:30−9pm. Our table of six sat down and ordered all the goods. 1) Curry Coroque– This was a basic fried thing with curry inside. Basic and I would pass 2) Fried Rice– This was delicious! Get it. Super flavorful although a overly salty but packed with flavor and meat. 3) Green Beans– They were aite. Nothing crazy but I guess if you want veggies, get it. 4) Black Bean Noodles– Hmm everyone goes crazy over these but I thought they were quite flavorless.bloop. 5) Chicken wings– two orders was good enough for the six of us. Man these are good! I can taste some pepper and the flavored glaze. Must. Get. The must haves were the fried rice and chicken wings imo.

Nous sommes allés manger là car nous voulions manger de la bonne nourriture chinoise(nems, samoussa, riz cantonais, etc…) mais rien de tout ça ! Cela dit rien à redire sur les plats que nous avons mangé, et les prix sont très resonnables.
