Get the mapo tofu, spicy dan dan, beef in chilli oil and the spicy wontons. Very very good.

Best Chinese take away in the Richmond. As you get more adventuresome the menu gets better, and this is an awesome place for family takeaway and spice lovers!

Only Sichuanese knows how good this place is. No more to say ;-) Wanna keep here as a secret spot in the city but I still hope the owner runs a successful business… What a dilemma!

People craving authentic Sichuan cuisine need to come here. One of the best sichuan joints in SF. I live up the street from this place and must eat here at least once-twice a week! I love bringing people here who have never eat Sichuan food or authentic Chinese food in general. This place has changed the majority of my friends into Sichuan believers. Order the: Beef tendon Cold sesame noodles Dan dan noodles Spicy wontons La zi ji(cubed fried chicken tossed with dried peppers) Ma po tofu Enjoy!

Boy this place is spicy. Maybe I can’t take the heat but everything was pretty spicy so I could enjoy the flavors. I can’t really remember what I ordered but it was just okay and it did stand out. The 3 stars is just my preference so disregard my review.

I freaking adore the sweet lady who works at the counter. She’s so lovely i cant stand it! Also, the food is excellent. Massive portions, tones of flavour and great service. The Spicy legend is my go to Chines in San Francisco, I cant recommend it enough.

This place hits the spot. I wanted spicy and they brought it. No special requests needed. We got the cold Szechuan chicken(also called mouth-watering chicken) which they did perfectly. Lots of ma-la spice that was hot and numbing. We also got delicious tan tan noodles(also called dan dan noodles). We got them veggie style and they were also a hit. We ordered our food to-go so it was particularly nice that they gave us a little box of their spicy peanut mix. The pea shoot with garlic were also delish. Can’t wait to go back!

I really like the food. Have tried many dishes, and enjoy them all. However, I used Unilocal to place a delivery order this last time and was annoyed that the driver called from his car and told me I had to come down to his car to get the order. It has nothing to do with being lazy, the expectation with delivery is that the order is delivered to your door. I live on the first floor of a duplex with ample parking out front. First time in my life I didn’t tip.

Coming from someone we LOVES spicy numbing food, this place is majorly lacking in spice and flavor. The couples delight was missing flavor. The spicy lamb taste like it was drowned in chili oil but was missing flavor and not at the least numbing. We should have took the hint of no one eating here when we came because it was dinner time. We were the only table. We didn’t even finish any of the dishes we ordered. Paid and left. Over all, not worth the money or visit.

Today Friday I tried out Spicy Legend for the very first time. I came during lunch time and surprisingly they had great lunch selections to order from. I ordered the shrimp and scrambled eggs with white rice. Portion was ample and just enough for one person, so no waste of food. The only reason I didn’t rate a 5 star rating was because of the waitress serving me that afternoon. She never came to my table to see whether everything was OK?. I actually had to get up and ask if I could have salt and pepper and hot sauce. Really?! I am a Flight Attendant and God forbid one of my first class passengers gets up to request items! Unbelievable. The waitress lacked Customer Service 101 Class Rules! She wouldn’t make it as a Flight Attendant.

Food was just meh. Nothing special, but it wasn’t bad. I wanted chinese because I was craving egg soup. My boyfriend complained that it would be bland, so i ordered broccoli beef, orange chicken, and cashew prawns. He thought the soup was the best part and hardly touched the other food.

As far as Sichuan food goes, this place seems to use a fusion of Mexican/Californian chillies rather than the typical Chinese chillies, and they’re a bit short on the spice and numbing peppercorns. However, that doesn’t mean the food can’t be tasty! The beef in chili oil was amazingly thick, not too oily such that I could drink the soup(if I separated out the oil by disturbing the layer a bit) and very tasty. My favorite was that the(free) tea came out instantly, food came out piping hot, and(free) red bean dessert soup-thing came out fast(it’s a great, slightly sweet dish to soothe the tongue after a spicy meal). Overall great experience.

Love spicy? Can’t find the spiciest dish in town? Hate the lines in the more popular restaurants? Problem solved. You have just arrived in your destination. Spicy Legend is recently opened, a few months after its former tenant, Phở Garden closed down. I’m glad Spicy Legend took over because Phở Garden wasn’t that great anyway. From the outside, you can easily spot the restaurant just by looking at their too-obvious logo of 3 chili making up the chinese letter«川» [chuān]. Of course, not everything in their menu is spicy. We ordered this fresh, cold appetizer dish: Ear mushroom salad. It can be a taste bud opener as well as a cool-down dish on the side when things get a little too spicy. We also ordered a cold plate of sesame noodles. This one is nice because it wasn’t too spicy, but has a little kick to it. The spiciest dish of the night was their hot + sour tofu soup. So good, one sip makes you wanna go for another spoon, but it heats you up so fast that you need a break after 5 spoons or so. I recommend ordering a can of cold herbal tea, that also helps with the cooling down. Love this place. I live by the neighborhood, will definitely come back to try their other things. Service is decent. The waitress is helpful, pays attention to your table and friendly. The crowd isn’t crazy so there’s always a seat for you.

We were watching Anthony Bourdain’s «Parts Unknown» episode about Shanghai, and they showed some really spicy food with chili oil and peppers. Our mouths watered. We looked at each other and said, «Let’s go have some Szechuan food for dinner.» We consulted Unilocal and arrived at Spicy Legend. Wow, what a treat. Everything was delicious and the restaurant is very clean. The spicy dumplings and Kung pao chicken were really tasty. I highly recommend the dan-dan noodles(tan-tan). They were out of this world! We will definitely be going back. One note of caution: I was 39 weeks pregnant the evening this occurred, and REALLY hoping to make it to 40. After the delicious, super-spicy meal, contractions started that night.

It looks good and authentic on first impression, but it is really just another one of those«i guess it’s decent» places. Why? The szechuan peppers were either old or reused because you don’t get the ‘mala’ taste and feeling on the tongue. Food wasn’t spicy enough either. Portions are much smaller too. At least it’s clean inside!

A bit disappointing. I went in wanting a solid bowl of spicy fish noodle soup but that’s literally what I got: szechuan-level spice(fine), fish with absolutely no flavor, noodles which were very mediocre in texture, and super bland soup. I tasted nothing, and not because it was spicy. Should’ve went to Taste of Formosa a few blocks down… at least they have good noodles and flavors. Appreciated the dessert though, not every restaurant makes 酒酿(jiu niang).

Maybe it was an off day for the Spicy Legend, both service & food were bad — given the review raves(even though there are a number of fake 5* reviews). The joint had less than 20% of the tables occupied, so we thought the server might be able to promptly handle everyone … NOT ! The experience started with a note of optimism as the welcoming little dish of roasted peanuts and marinated carrots/cabbage arrived with hot tea as we sat down. The first dish landed, appearing to try to like it the table mate gave up and stopped eating. Deep Fried tofu arrived, 10 small squares arranged on top of wilted iceberg lettuce strings, was accompanied by a horrid, almost canned tasting sweet & sour sauce. Waiting for the next dish, the suspense killed our appetites and our already waning desire to continue eating @ this Spicy Legend, so we paid, tipped and left. Itsa Legend for sure, from its infamous ability in preparing inedible food.

Pretty solid place to grab Chinese to go. I’ve gone several times for chicken with mixed vegetables and the dish is always tasty and serving plentiful. I went yesterday and got the medium won ton soup. For $ 10, I thought this was pretty expensive but I was craving it and Spicy Legends was closest to me. When I picked up my order, I discovered my «medium» was really 1 and ¾ of an order as they packed it in almost 2 full regular containers. I only had one for dinner and saved the rest. The broth was one of the tastiest I’ve had for a win ton soup. Also, the soup was PACKED with won tons, a combo of meats and veggies. Definitely my go to spot now for Chinese pick up

Spicy legend is a new Sichuan Chinese restaurant on Clement that offers plenty of spicy options The ambiance is calm, each wall is painted in different colors and the little art on the walls add to experience. The service was nice at first, brought us complimentary boiled peanuts and pickles carrots/radish. After we ordered they brought us soup, but our main dish came out while the calamari showed up after we finished our meal. The staff was overwhelmed, but in their defense they seemed visibly tired from the Holiday season. She was talking to some of the patrons about how tired she was. The food was good, the beef in chili oil sauce was spicy and had some ingredient that made my mouth slightly numb. The calamari came out after the meal, and was good with little garlic and crispy bits as a garnish. I would come back to try some other food. Food = 3, Service = 2(this visit)

I was craving something spicy, and I’ve been curious about this place since it opened, so I decided to stop by. I ordered the Princess chicken, which was $ 9.95. I also ordered a side of steamed rice for $ 1.35. There was a lot of chicken! It could feed 4 people, so you’re getting a lot for your money. And the rice I got was just right for one person. And was it spicy, you asked? The sauce was full of chili flakes and chili peppers, so definitely yes! The fried chicken was with white meat, and the batter was thin, giving it a nice bite. I overheard the women behind me enjoying their food, and told the waitress they plan to bring more people. So if you can handle spicy food, you’ll enjoy this place.
