St Anne’s Home

I do a little bit of volunteering at St. Anne’s and I am amazed at the kind and wonderful care given to the residents. The Little Sisters are a blessing.

St. Anne’s Home is a residential care facility (RCF) and a skilled nursing facility (SNF) run by the Catholic order of nuns known as the Little Sisters of the Poor. The sisters’ mandate is to care for the sick, elderly and the poor.
My parents have resided here for nearly three years now, after it became apparent that living in their apartment in Walnut Creek was getting to be too much for them, despite outside help and the assistance of my sisters and I.
The residents have meals together in the beautiful dining room and also have access to and can enjoy the exercise/​card room, the library, crafts room, ice cream parlor, satellite kitchens (if you want to prepare your own meal) beauty salon, the huge garden and the chapel, which offers daily mass. There are also trips to local shopping malls and stores, as well as trips to museums, GG Park, and tons of other places like Muir Woods and even Cache Creek Casino! Transportation to doctor appointments is also included, and an attendant provided if necessary.
The residents are kept engaged by their great activities director, and by the scores of programs arranged for them by various Catholic organizations and civic groups. Every time I talk to them it seems that some group has just come over and prepared a fantastic BBQ for them, or they’re going to the Culinary Academy for a special banquet. or some school just came over and performed a concert for them.
In addition to all of this wonderful stuff, they have various doctors and physical therapists who come by for appointments, and nursing help on duty 24 hours a day.
I cannot tell you how grateful my family is that my parents are happy and safely ensconced at St. Anne’s.
