Yummy breakfast in a fun atmosphere. I had a decadent scramble with chicken apple sausage, scallions, sour cream and GOUDA(the world’s most perfect cheese). My Dad had the huevos rancheros and loved it. The mimosa comes with your own mini champagne bottle — super cute touch! I live in San Jose so don’t frequent SF for breakfast, but if I did I would definitely hit this place. Oh, and get there early if you go on a weekend. We got there at 10 with a short wait but there was a crowd by the time we left.

A group of eight of us has breakfast here this morning. I loved the neighborhood and the restaurant seemed to fit in perfectly. Very welcoming staff and food was great from the perfectly crisped bacon to the chicken and waffles to the huevos rancheros.

I came in for lunch, and got breakfast instead. Their portions are very generous especially when it comes to their eggs florentine with hash browns and fruits. Their pancakes are a little on the expensive side(roughly 7.99 for 2) but, they are huge(approx. 11inch in diameter and half an inch in height). Lots of space for big groups, and waiters are quick to serve. It’s a good place for those who love/only eat breakfast cause its being served alllll day.

Loved this place! Great for breakfast! My daughters are picky and they found things they loved like the Chicken and Waffles. Or the Crab Fritatta. I had the Lox bagel the first time. Now I’m having Chicken Apple Sausage and Eggs. Very broad selection. And all the servers have been great.

I LOVE stacks. I’ve been coming here for a few years now and very time is just as good as the last. My favorites are the eggs florentine, Benedict, chicken Apple frittata and sausage and mushroom skillet. So much food, so good, great price. Loyal customer

First time here for brunch to catch up with a friend. The inside decoration was very pretty, which may have been because of the holidays(came here around Christmas time). But yeah, very festive, perfect for Sunday brunch with friends or coworkers. Ordered the Applewood Bacon/Avocado omelet($ 13.79). Came with salsa, a side of potatoes, and a bagel. I think you have to pay extra for cream cheese or any other toppings. The omelet was pretty good, fluffy, and the salsa complimented it well. Eat it with the salsa, because I forgot I had it until I was halfway done. I was mainly intrigued by the bagel, since most places serve slices of bread instead. I love toasted bagels, so no complaints here. The portions are also pretty huge, so an order can very well fill 2 people. It was a good brunch place. Nice interior, waiters were friendly and attentive, and the food was pretty good. I would definitely come again to try their other items, and for another bagel.

Visited Stacks this past Sunday for brunch with some friends. Circled around Hayes Valley a couple of times until we finally found a spot. There’s also a parking structure a couple blocks down, which we didn’t know of at the time. We arrived around 12:30 and got sat around 25 min. later(party of 3). The restaurant was packed filled with families, couples and group of friends. Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. After deciding not to order everything on the menu, because everything sounded so freaking delicious, we settled on: Huevos Rancheros, the Fruit Crêpe and French Toast. All were pretty darn good. I’d pass on the Fruit Crêpe, but that’s because I’m not really a «fruit for breakfast» kinda person and it wasn’t anything special. My favorite was def the Huevos Rancheros, I think I pretty much hogged that plate to myself. Stacks is overall a good spot for Sunday brunching, I’d come here again. Hayes Valley is also nice neighborhood to explore while digesting and overcoming a food coma.

Enjoyed brunch here with my girlfriends last weekend. Highly recommend the crab crêpe. Comes with a perfectly toasted bagel and hash brown potatoes. Underwhelmed with the side of fruit I ordered… Being that it consisted of a slice of melon and a couple grapes in a serving dish about the size of what butter comes in. Beware– you will not be seated until your entire party has arrived.

food was decent with good portions. very popular place for sunday brunch so be prepared to wait. They had free hot coffee and tea for those waiting, which helped a lot. gave an extra star for the atmosphere. they decorated the place with wreaths and lights for Christmas so the place was super festive. If you have a large party, they won’t seat you until everyone is there.

— Nice location in Hayes Valley! Nice area to walk around before/after eating. — Waited maybe 30 mins for a table for five for Sunday brunch. I appreciate the coffee dispensers for people waiting. — I love the decorations inside! So pretty! — Ordered Banana Macadamia Nut & Coconut Pancakes. One pancake is huge, and I couldn’t finish it. It’s unique, tasty, and sweet, and I like that all the flavors are pretty even(nothing that overpowers the others). I recommend it(if you like sweet food).

What happens when a diner and an abandoned warehouse have a baby? Stacks! Redefining mediocre American right here in Hayes Valley. Pros: open early, moderately-priced, vegetarian and gluten-free options Cons: flavor, service, décor, general ambiance. Like eating in an unusually cavernous IHOP, but slower and more costly. Conclusion: skip this joint in favor of nearby gems Mercury Café(also open early), or Arlequin Café(exactly one block down Hayes St).

Great place for bunch but expect a long wait. I came here with friends and they introduced me to Stack’s bloody mary and it was amazing! The bacon add-on to the bloody mary is a must and pairs perfectly! If I come back, it’s for the bloody mary. The overall brunch menu is pretty standard. My favorite is the Egg Louis benedict with crab meat. Portions are pretty hefty.

I came to Stacks for a weekend brunch. They offered a decent selection of comfort food, but nothing too special in my opinion. My omelet was on the greasy side — maybe I should have gone the safer route and ordered the waffles/pancakes instead. The only plus was that they were able to seat us quickly. Still, places like Sweet Maple or Kitchen Story are popular for a reason and I’d recommend them over Stacks.

This place is OK. Browsing their menu you can see that it is basically a breakfast /brunch spot with a smattering of some lunch items. My friends wanted to eat here but I’m not a breakfast food person(I’m one of those weird persons who hates pancakes), so I had the Chef’s Salad. It was OK, but not great. The salad ingredients were mostly in big chunks and everything had to be sliced with my knife before eating it. But the atmosphere was nice, servers were friendly and helpful, and best feature was the free coffee at the front door for those waiting to be seated. Nice indoor and outdoor seating, and this place is across the street from this nice park at Hayes and Octavia Sts.

This is a great weekend brunch place. It’s located in the center of Hayes Valley, near lots of cafes, clothing boutiques, and restaurants. The inside is beautifully decorated and most of the seating is either table or booth arrangements. One of the things I appreciate most about them is that they’ve always been really great about accommodating my food allergies without hassle. Also, the waiters are consistently friendly and patient – it’s rare that you feel rushed. Portions are huge! Enough to share with a friend or take home for leftovers. Perk: There’s a dog park across the street so that’s a plus. If you sit outside, you’ll have a good chance of spotting some adorable pups.

2.5 Dear Stacks, Just because your name is Stacks doesn’t mean you should have tasty pancakes but also breakfast sandwiches that are a hot mess(and not in a good way). The oddly named Lumberjack pancakes were ginormous and had blueberries, banana slices and macadamia nuts.(When is the last time you saw a lumberjack in the City? How about something like«Sunday Nap» pancakes? Just sayin’.) However, the Breakfast Sandwich was a brunch buzzkill. The eggs were overcooked, the sausage was undercooked, the avocado was brown and the side of hash browns were burnt. Also, the extra charge for subbing in chicken apple sausage for the ham and bacon seemed nickel and dimey. Luckily, we beat the rush. Because the only thing worse than a disappointing brunch? Waiting half hour for it. Sincerely, Amy C.

My husband and I decided to have brunch somewhere nice. Since he was having a pancake craving we decided to come here. As we entered, my husband asked how long it would be for a table for two. The gentlemen said it would be 20 – 30 minutes, however if we wanted we can take the two open chairs at the bar. We usually don’t do bar tops, but since we had a long list of errands to do, we took the two chairs at the bar! We were greeted by a young lady name Mitzi. She was so sweet and made our eating experience quite lovely. She took our drink orders which was just two ice waters and gave it to us right away. Then she took our food order. My husband and I enjoyed our conversation and didn’t realize how long we were waiting for our food. However, this lady who was in charge of the money going in and out kept reminding us that our food hasn’t came and she made comments wondering what was taking so long. She had brown hair about shoulder length. We didn’t mind the wait, but she kept checking the system telling us how long it’s been since we ordered. She said, 13 mins so far! What did you guys order? Mitzi came by and said she’s going to check on our food. She explained that a party of 15 put their order in right before us. It was perfectly fine because we weren’t in a hurry at all. I ordered a basic breakfast. Chicken Apple sausage, sunny side up eggs, hash browns, and a bagel with cream cheese. I basically finished the whole thing. It was delicious! The sunny side up egg had a little of the snot texture when the egg white isn’t cooked all the way, but that didn’t gross me out. It usually does, but today I didn’t mind it. My husband ordered the bacon and avocado omelette with egg whites. He loved it. It came with hash browns and a side of sourdough toast. We shared a short stack blueberry pancakes and oh man that was huge! Two huge pancakes shared by two people, but we didn’t even eat half! They were big!!! I would of gave this place 5 stars, but that lady who kept reminding us of how long we were waiting ruined it. We didn’t even noticed until she brought it up. Mitzi was super amazing! Thank you for a wonderful eating experience!

After dropping off my luggage at a nearby bnb, I wander the streets of San Francisco in search of my very first meal of my visit. My boyfriend and I spot stacks on the corner of Hayes and Octavia(a 5ish min walk from Hayes Valley Inn) and decided to go. The interior was lovely, but we ended up sitting outside on the tall chairs due to perfect weather. Food — 5⁄5 but I only tried one dish which was the crab omelette. ITWASAMAZING! I love crab and I love omelettes, but the two together sounded a bit worrisome. Either way I wanted to try something new and have never heard of this being offered before in my town. Definitely did not disappoint! The portions were too big for me so I would say it is worth the price completely. I had about 1⁄3 of the omelette left and half the hash browns. I barely touched the bagel. My boyfriend got a different omelette(forgot the name) but it came with avocado and salsa. It was very Hispanic tasting but tasted amazing! A great dish if you love avocados! He ordered a coffee and I ordered a water but we both got the entire jug of both drinks. Awesome! :) Service — 5⁄5. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations. :) I would recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for some delicious omelettes!

Classic breakfast restaurant with an old school hotel feel. The vibe of the place is a bit run down and old, especially compared to all the new hipster modern type restaurants on the neighborhood. Service is really slow here. It may be that they are understaffed, but their system can definitely be improved to be more efficient. We made reservations for a large party and the table was ready when we got there(plus!) However, after being seating it took forever to locate our server. It took a good 20 mins to get water and then another 20 mins for our waiter to take our order. Food came out after another 15 – 20 mins. This is not the place to dine if you’re looking for a speedy lunch. Portions here are huge! You can pretty much share and split everything. Prices are reasonable too. I was really impressed with the banana macadamia nut and coconut pancakes! It was pretty gourmet with chopped macadamia nuts, sliced bananas, and coconut shreds all mixed into the batter. Topped it off with maple syrup and it was delicious!

Great place to invite visiting friends to SF. It’s perfect if you wanna grab a breakfast then walk(exercise) up to Alamo Square. Food is typical American breakfast with an SF touch. Service is awesome. Totally coming back.

Meine Blaubeer-Pfannkuchen waren hervorragend. Schön luftig und geschmacklich ein Traum. Einziger Hinweis.
