Standard Plumbing Ace Hardware

My husband called here asking if they had a specific item in stock. The employee on the phone assured him that they did, but my husband suspected that he wasn’t listening to him. He tried to tell them the technical specs of the part, but the employee interrupted him and said, «Yeah, we have it. Just come in.» He quickly left the house, trying to get to the store before it closed.
Upon arrival, he was directed to the appropriate section, but couldn’t find the item he needed. He asked an employee for assistance and they couldn’t locate it. Why do these people lie to customers?
Two stars for having a small parking lot and because they made suggestions where else to look for the needed item. But seriously, listen to customers when they call about stock checks. We are trying to save everybody’s time.

So much better than going to Home Depot where you’ll never get someone to help. This is place to go to get fast and friendly service. All the guys on the floor know their stuff too.

JR is the man! This place is my local hardware store and every time I go I get great service. I walked in and got help making key copies. Then when I came back in later that day JR recognized me and pointed me right in the direction I needed to go.

When ACE Hardware was at their old address on Clement and 10^th Avenue, I did not like the staff there, as I touched upon this usual ‘Paul Bunion lumber jack’ machismo homophobic ultra-​conservative working class mentality there, and was reluctant to shop there, as they back then were very unprofessional and very condescending towards general public and not so helpful.
Now that they have moved to their new quarters on 3^rd and Clement, there seems to be a renaissance of more pleasant professional 21^st century conduct. I am pleased and actually found vast majority of staff there to be quite nice and outgoing (save for one Chinese person ‘leftover’ who seems to still carry forward from old location this homophobic machismo attitude).
Over all, I have had excellent service since the move and a more positive professional experience geared for diversity and our present century (unlike early 20 century). Also with more space the old location was crowded and hard to find stuff, but they really lucked out on this large place and is more easier to find stuff.
Kudos to them and I wish them best of luck for good more modern up-​to-​date professional business practises!

Every employee here is condescending. (Especially the Asian dude with the medium build who’s always there.) If you ask a question, they will find a way to somehow belittle you. It actually has to be some sort of talent.
The only reason why I gave it an extra star is because it’s convenient. So come here for what you need, not for the customer service (or lack there of).

As soon as I walked up to the store, a man standing in front looked at the circular neon light bulb I was holding and said, «Oh, we have that! This way.» In less than a minute he found me the exact (unusual) bulb I was looking for and walked me up to the front, all with such friendliness that I, who am not a hardware store connoisseur, had to write a review on Unilocal when I got home. Amazingly swift and friendly service!

Brought in so pieces from a project that I ran into trouble on. A friendly guy helped me work on a solution and it worked.

It’s clean, well lit, well stocked with a broad array of items and I’ve never had a negative experience with an employee. It’s more expensive than buying online (you know… duh), but for a local place the prices are fine.
There’s nothing more that one could reasonably ask of a hardware store.

I was heartbroken when my go-​to Mom-​and-​Pop hardware store (Hardware Unlimited) shuttered recently. For more than 20 years, I’d always gotten great service there, whether I was buying a cordless drill, a tape measure, or a handful of nails.
Luckily, the Ace store on Clement has saved the day. It’s a huge hardware store (esp. for one in the city), well-​stocked, with a big selection of needful things for household projects. And they have more light-​bulb choices than you can shake a stick at!
Best of all: The folks who work there are crazy-​helpful — and they really know their stuff.

Great location with parking (this is a major bonus on Clement street which is really hard to find parking). Great help… the guys there are always available, always knowledgeable, and always pleasant. Good selection: I always find what I need there… and that can be pretty eclectic.

I’ve been going to this Ace and its previous location for over 8 years. Generally very well stocked, surprisingly so for a store in an urban location, and all but one staff member has been very helpful with a great attitude. I would give it a 4.7 due to that one grumpy guy, but I’m rounding up to five since the rest of the staff is great.

The «helpful hardware man» does not work for these owners. Same lame customer service as their former location. if I knew it was the same people, I would not have set foot in this store.
It would be nice if the clerk assisted me in finding the product I needed. Instead, I was given directions to the area in the store. At the very least he should have offered to help me locate the item.
When he saw me leaving without making a purchase, then he offered to help me. Too late!
By the way, they were not busy at all during the time I was there.

Hands down the friendliest and most knowledgable staff I have met @ a hardware store.
This crew always goes out of their way to make sure you are taken care of and can find the item (s) you are looking for.
Oh, and doggie friendly. My dog actually drags me to their store to say hi to their friendly staff and to get a treat.

To quote another reviewer: «Sure the place is well stocked, but be careful with their prices.» And I’ll add be VERY careful if you ever want to return or exchange ANYTHING.
You’ll be made to feel like you’re dealing with Homeland Security. They wouldn’t refund me $ 3.25 for an item I’d bought there within the past two weeks because I didn’t have the receipt yet the scan tag was still attached and they did agree that it was from their store. «Dave» would only look at me and in a monotone repeat over and over, ‘we need a receipt, we need a receipt.’ There is absolutely no recognition of customers who have given them their business for years and who they know.
All to say if you buy anything there that you think you might need to return or exchange grill them on the return policy, get it in writing, and get the name of who you get the agreement from. No joke.
I know other people who have stopped shopping there because they will fight you on returns and are completely inflexible regarding returns and refunds. Since they can’t recognize and appreciate their customers, they don’t deserve our business.

I found this incredible store to have everything I need! The guys here carry everything you need for any home improvement and maintenance needs. I live in the sunset and I am about 10 minutes away from home depot, but my loyalty now lies with Standard Plumbing Ace Hardware.
The staff has always been more than helpful, going the extra mile to ensure our satisfaction. Because we have been in the store multiple times over the past month, the manager JR is now on a first name basis with my wife I. he always comes from behind the counter to welcome us and guarantee that we are taken care of. Thanks JR!
