This was the first time I tried SF restaurant week and I picked Starbelly because it had such a good deal. A three course lunch for only $ 15! What a steal! I didn’t realize this restaurant was only a block away from Ike’s and kitchen story, so I never noticed it before. It didn’t look too fancy from the outside, but once you walk in you notice that there’s an outside in the inside! What I mean to say is that as you walk towards the back of the restaurant, they have this greenhouse part to the restaurant. I definitely recommend sitting outside. The design of the exterior made you feel just at home. It definitely gave off a comfortable feeling. The water came in cool wine bottles. The first dish I had was the chicken liver pâté. It was different from what I had expected and experienced as chicken liver before. However, it was paired very well with grain mustard. Next, was the chicken po’boy. The veggies were a bit more bitter than expected but the fried chicken was very good. Last, of course, was their famous salted caramel pot de crème. I didn’t know what I was expecting but this definitely exceeded my expectations. It is basically a salted caramel flavored crème brûlée paired with a ginger snap cookie. I’m not a big fan of ginger but it helped with the sweetness of the pot de crème. It was the perfect dessert that just melts in your mouth leaving you wanting more. I’m not sure if I would get all three plates when it’s not restaurant week anymore because of the price, but I would definitely come back again for the food.

so happy we made reservations bc friday night, it was packed with a long wait list. we got seated in the back patio, which was fine bc they had heat lamps so you couldnt feel the cold sf air. my gfs and i shared a bottle of wine and ordered: — liver pâté — so good and a big portion! highly recommend — brussel sprouts — got to get your veggies in — sausage pizza w/egg — thought this pizza was very delish! — prather ranch burger w/bacon and cheese — great but not sure it lived up to its hype

As many of the Unilocalers have mentioned, Starbelly is a place where you feel like you’ve got your money’s worth. and more. I came to Starbelly during SF’s restaurant week. The place was listed as one of the restaurants where you get the most value, and its easy to see why. The $ 15 lunch menu is a three course meal. Appetizer: House made chicken liver pâté($ 10) or starbelly salad($ 7) Entrée: Fried chicken po’boy($ 10) or mixed Mediterranean plate(normally $ 15) Dessert: Salted caramel pot de crème and cornmeal rosemary cookie($ 6) I choose the chicken liver pâté, mediterranean plate, and salted caramel pot de crème. I would strongly recommend picking this combination. The portions were huge and the food was quite delicious. It wasn’t the best meal I had but for the price and the quality, Starbelly absolutely deserves 4 stars. The pâté was my favorite part of the meal. Service was excellent. I don’t think reservations are at all necessary although it would only take about two minutes to make one.

Did not think it was possible, but this place deserves 10 stars. Service, food, ambiance… All on par. Came late on Friday after constantly moving my reso back because I’m not an accurate time keeper and every time the Hostess was very kind on the phone and in person about my forgetfulness. Our server(DAMN what was his name ’cause I want him every time! He had glasses and was short??) got our bottle of wine in a flash(great recommendation too!) and never felt a lag time at all even though it was a crazy Friday night. Brussel Sprouts: so good, we ordered an extra round. The gassiness is worth it the next day. WORTHIT. Chicken Liver Pâté: Heaven. Huge portion. Heaven. Mushroom Pizza: I don’t even like pizza… And I ate this. That should say enough. Get extra cheese! Starbelly, you are my Star.
